Oscar refuses to extubate his grandpa, or sign his DNR.
The man is kept alive over nothing but the love Oscar has for him. He seemed to have very advanced dementia from the sound of it, and poor guy is dying slowly.
      Enters Alys.
But of course, it's morally questionable at best.

I think that is who Alys is. The reason people go mad at Harrenhall is because they're not worthy to rule Honorably. Daemon is confused but he doesn't really seem to be going mad. Maybe Alys feels he has potential.

      Thats not very Grrm.
Edit: I think you are spot on about Alys being the green queen but the motivations you suggest are far too rosy for the series we are talking about. Whats more likely to me is that Alys was the green queen but has since been kicked out of the greentree network and now operates as a siren to lure men into working for her purposes. And what is her true purpose? To invade the isle of faces and bring death to those who betrayed her and her Night King long ago...

What Iove about it is that it taps into the trippy vision stuff the GRRM loves to do, but doesn't really happen in the shows all that much. It’s a fun change of pace, and an interesting thing to do with Daemon, who otherwise wouldn't be doing much interesting.
That being said, I think it needs to have some serious momentum tonight. No more visions.
Unless we get a Viscerys cameo. Then I'm fine with another one. It is interesting that he's the only important dead person in his life who hasn't appeared to him.

@@JoeMagician I'm thinking with the way the net works, it might be possible from any weirwood with a face or possibly any weirwood. It might explain some of the weirwoods that seem to have more significance than others, like the door to castle black or the blackwood tree or the tree on the isle of ravens at oldtown. I think it might even be possible to take the mantle without being hooked up, like in the show with bran... the hooked up part might only be necessary to maintain life function. Like weirwood life support. In fact, she might even be the three eyed crow now... it would explain the supposed long life potentially. ALys is not just a dream, she's Tyanna of the Tower; another character with black hair and pale skin who skin-walked into rats to spy on the Red Keep and was a master of poisons and potions and who sacrificed babies of the "blood of kings". Oh, and she was lovers with Alys Harroway, whose family were stewards of Harrenhall. This would explain why she always seems so young, but is older than anyone in Harrenhall. And would explain who taught Larys his greenseeing and his poisons (spoilers) and potions; his milk mother.
Allegedly, Maegor had her heart cut out, but that was only witnessed by Ser Maladon Moore who GRRM tells us is an unreliable narrator and his version of events for another queen's death "was likely fabricated to further blacken Maegor's reign."
Either Tyanna escaped Maegor's cruelty, or she warged into an animal and then warged into another body, or she was resurrected like Melisandre. But it is most definitely her.

    • @pyramidion5911
      @pyramidion5911 Před měsícem +1

Now this is interesting! I have suspected for awhile that "Queen" and "King" are the ancient terms for people who could warg and/or seer. At the start of GoT Ned meets with Robert and immediately notices his smell is wrong, he has bags under his eyes and his gut is absolutely huge. On the surface it seems like Ned is just noticing Robert has let himself go, but now (5th read through) I think Ned was noticing that Robert is being warged into at night. Ned makes many comments that suggest he is aware of the deeper lore in the world and I suspect he may even be a faceless man as many lines seem to foreshadow this connection. Anyway, Ill wrap this up and say that the tree kings/queens seem to be able to warg from long distance. The Tansy named characters are often associated with the CotF and may be hands for the queen.

When Alys first meets Daemon, she tells him, "You will die in this place." I know what most think is being foreshadowed, but I think she is actually talking about it happening right now.
I have interepted the entire Harrenhal storyline to be just that - Daemon, as he knows himself, dies a little bit more with each vision or dream.
By the time he leaves Harrenhal, having confronted the demons of his past and present, the "old" Daemon will be dead and reborn with a renewed sense of purpose. He will be ready to conpletely dedicate himself to Rhaenyra's cause.
This is my favorite storyline this season. I'm surprised so many people are complaining about it.

She will test and prod Daemon and Aemond to select the perfect candidate. And then after the battle over God's Eye, Daemon will be enthroned on a weirwood chair between the other greenmen.
And Targaryens will start to dream a lot more of dragons and visions, guided by Daemon until he finds Bloodraven.
Also, the dramatic irony of the BLACK's lieutenant to be a GREENmen (and seer) is so funny.

IDK why people have been complaining so much about Daemon's Harrenhal arc. I think it's been great. Each weirwood dream progresses the story forward and tells us more about the character, all stuff we would never know otherwise because he's such a closed book. I enjoy the magic being front and center in this series compared to GOT. And it's refreshing to have at least one show character that is actually being forced to face themselves and actually grow. Since we can already tell the rest of these characters are going to stay the same all the way til they kill each other, Daemon's growth arc adds depth.

She's real in the books, definitely not a ghost or a hallucination.
Spoiler for those who only watch the show:
She will, assuming they don't change stuff, hook up with Aemond and even get pregnant from him. She's a flesh and blood person, though definitely with some magical knowledge/skills.

1-Alys IS real 2-Harrenhall IS haunted/magical 3-the people of Harrenhall expect to see/exp weird things 4-Alys is Weirwood pasting Daemon 5-Alys’presence is IN Daemons mind most of the time rooting around. 6-I’ll die on this hill. 🤪✌🏼

Alys is not real. She is the tree. The tree is directing this entire franchise. I'm not joking. The trees want payback from the "dragons." The dragons destroyed their castle. She sent Larys AND his brother to bring chaos to Kings Landing. (Edited) The Strongs do not object Daemon because they DREW him there! Daemon is being manipulated by "the trees' blood."
