I'm 28 and I still watch this movie. I watched it at Easter with my 1st cousin who's 5 and a 1/2 and we really bonded while we watched it together. Best movie ever.
The purpose of Thomas and Friends is to bring smiles to children and adults alike. Thomas isn't necessarily for children, it's for everyone, Rev W. Awdry created Thomas to make it as realistic and relatable as possible for older audiences that readed the books for their kids. And Awdry made it! He changed the world with his little blue tank engine generation after generation. Thomas has brought to us alot of good childhood memories that we are glad of having. Thomas doesn't just feel like a fictional character, he feels like a character that kids, teenagers and adults can enjoy no matter what age. Teenagers can watch it while they are having a hard time in their lifes, and adults can watch it because of childhood memories. Thank you Rev W. Awdry for making such an iconic character. He's indeed *a really useful engine*
I wish that it was true that Thomas and friends was for everyone no matter how old you are, but I learned in life that apparently it's only for little kids and your parents would make you stop watching shows you love because of your age, because people in whatever school you're in and people in general that is who work in jobs would humiliate and make fun of you, and complain to you for what you watch on TV, and because you need to learn things you don't know such as history of America and other stuff like that, and so that you can be smarter when you get older and stuff like that too and that's it. But to me, Thomas and friends lives in my heart and especially in my mind which is everything and everyone I learned and the new places they started having and all of that too.
Actually, all the Sodor scenes were filmed in a studio in Toronto, as well, and the dialogue was recorded there as well. Also, similarly, I love how the Big City Station scene was filmed in my home state, Pennsylvania.
Oh man, I remember having this on DVD! I miss my childhood... Edit: Just watched the DVD in the Blu-Ray two pack yesterday and my childhood memories just started coming back to me.
@@Insideoutfan1 Me too, and I know how can think and remember forever in mind how Thomas and his friends' voices are like in the CGI seasons, when the engines had the Steamworks, the Dieselworks, the Sodor Search and Rescue Center, where each of the engines have their lamps and during the daylight too, and all of that stuff.
As much as I loved the song as a kid, I remember walking out of the movie theater, crying when the movie ended and I cried watching it on DVD or VHS. 😢
I'm 18 years old right now and this movie was part of my childhood too, and even the whole series and all the movie episodes of each season such as "Calling all engines" which came in the year I was born that's 2005, the Great Discovery, and all those other stories. And I can think and remember for forever everything and every character from Thomas and friends in my mind, how each of them look like and all that stuff.
i was born April 7,1995 I first got into Thomas The Tank Engine in 1997 at the age of 2, and now I am 26 years old going on 30 in 4 years from now. It's been over 20 years since this film came out and I was there at age 6 to see the big premiere and currently almost 25 years later starting next year I am still a fan of the really useful engine we adore. When I finally start a family of my own I will show and take my child or children on the journey I went down when I was their age to THE ISLAND OF SODOR!!!! A MAGICAL LAND WHERE DREAMS COME TRUE!!!!
I’m 18 so what, the purpose of Thomas and Friends was to put a smile on kids faces and it did. Thomas was my childhood show, I will never turn my back on it
I’d say, Thomas and the Magic Railroad was an attempt, getting Thomas on the big screen, I’m just gonna say it wasn’t bad in my opinion, but it wasn’t good either. If they would’ve levelled out the time with Thomas and the shining time station, characters, make it a 50-50 ratio, then it probably would’ve gotten a better review. I mean Britt really did her best with this and I could see how much passion she had in this project, but I guess it didn’t come out the way that she wanted it to. Also, I think they should’ve replaced Alec Baldwin with someone different in this film, because Alec Baldwin was just cringy in this film, he was trying too hard and that’s what made it so bad.
I'm 18 years old right now and Thomas and friends was part of my childhood too, and I started watching this movie on my DVD of it when was like 6 years old and I liked it and I had no emotions for what happens and everything like that because I wasn't that much smart and I didn't judge whatever episode and movie/episode of Thomas, and right now I know a lot about Thomas and friends such as who plays Thomas and his friends' voices in the best CGI seasons, who were the narrators of every season and everything, and I'm right now smart, in high school and I know every actor from every movie of my childhood and from the ones I grew up with until now. And since I wish for a lot of changes in every season of the Thomas and friends series such as which characters they should bring back in the CGI seasons from the past ones, which movie of Thomas should be which episode of what season they're part of and everything like that, I also wish for changes of this movie of Thomas and friends such as showing what happens to Lady the magical engine, what happens to Diesel 10's henchman diesels Splatter and Dodge, what happens to Lily and her grandfather Burnett Stone in the end of the movie when they return home to Shinning Time, showing the full story of how Burnett Stone took care of Lady when he was a boy, showing the full story about Mr. Conductor's family having Magic and everything, showing the name of "Thomas and the magic railroad" with the name of the series on top of it like every other movie/episode of Thomas and friends, showing Edward in it, showing the passengers in every scene that involved showing Thomas and his friends pulling passenger trains and when they're by Knapford station, having Thomas and his friends' whistles and chugging sounds sounding exactly like in the series, and lastly showing the tracks on the right and left sides of Tidmouth sheds looking more like in season 6 and the other seasons after and since the movie came on 2000 while season 6 of the series came after in 2002 and that's it.

This takes me back… It was a Friday in May of 2011. My family wasn’t too well off, but we got by. There was half days for my Kindergarten year. I had the afternoon for school. So, my dad and I spent the morning going garage sale searching. I was obsessed with Thomas at the time. We couldn’t find anything of our liking, so we went and got McDonald’s. Their S’more’s Pie was one of the newest things on the menu. I had that, and went off to school, excited that it was a Friday. When I got home, my dad had a big grin on his face. He pulled out this movie, Thomas and the Magic Railroad, from behind his back. “I purchased it while you weren’t looking and snuck it into the car.” I watched every last second of that movie that night as my dad and I enjoyed a Jack’s Pepperoni and Sausage pizza. It fills me with tears every time I watch that movie with any of my younger relative’s.
If nostalgia was a weapon I would have been long dead by now This movie is one of my most precious chilhood memories, even though people critize this movie very badly, I think it captures the esence of Thomas really good and you can see the effort and love Britt put to the movie

This is my most favorite Thomas movie ever made and I love this end credits the song is awesome makes me wanna cry and I loved the original series as well And interesting fact, The Locomotive song at the end credits was one of the chosen songs to play for Donkey Konga 1 for the Gamecube
Unfortunately, it's not this version. It's the 1987 Kylie Minogue version. I wish it was Atomic Kitten (this) version. That would have been so cool and would've given this movie attention.
I really wish they made more movies similar to Thomas and the Magic Railroad, where the characters from the original model series interacted with live-action characters! I would love for them to make another live-action adaptation of Thomas & Friends with the original model series characters (instead of CGI characters), as well as it being based on Mister Rogers Neighborhood (NOT Daniel Tiger) as well. "Thomas and the Magic Railroad" was pure gold! And it was my childhood, too! I actually remember the trailer from the Bear inthe Big Blue House Potty Time VHS, and ten years later (after I was a baby), I finally got to watch this movie! And it's the best one yet!
@Logan Siffledeen look I know it's a mixed model and live action and i already watch this but you shouldn't say the fact that this is mixed model and live action because we all know and heard about this movie and you thought that we're dumb that we thought this is animation, its really not tho
2:52 Fun Fact: John Bellis (credited as Transportation Coordinator) was the original voice of Thomas the Tank Engine. Sadly, thanks to a poor reception by test audiences, he and Michael Angelis (R.I.P.) who had originally voiced James & Percy were replaced in the final cut by Eddie Glenn and Susan Roman & Linda Ballantyne from the DiC/Cloverway English dub of Sailor Moon.
@@sarahreaume6659 Legendary composer John Barry was to do the film score for *"Thomas & The Magic Railroad",* but he left late into production and was replaced by Hummie Mann, who ironically replaced him in the 1992 film: *"Year of The Comet".*
Maybe the movie was a fail and it isn't even like Thomas but I still love it... Just Childhood memory's which will last forever... And I am still a Thomas-fan and I just miss the good old day's....
Atomic Kitten did the 80's version I once heard at Wegmans while my mom and I were shopping there. So that version is more rock than Atomic Kitten's version from Y2K for this movie.
I would have liked an additional scene at the end of the credits in which the police stopped and arrested Pt Boomer and Sir Tophan Hatt, discovering everything that had happened in Sodor and Scolding Diesel 10 Splatter and Dodge and that after finishing the movie Thomas The Tank Engine Friends logo appears along with the Badge Saying CREATED BY A BRITT ALLCROFT COMPANY
I remember so many memories of watching this movie one of them was I was in my mom’s room in my favorite childhood home and was eating chocolate Oreo cookies with milk the next one was I watching it with my dad in his little house that was built in the back of my Grandma’s house and the last one was which is my favorite memory is I watching it in my mom’s room again in the same home it was a late night movie and I was singing this song standing on the nightstand and when it was over and I was about to go to bed I went into my sister’s room and she was about ready to get ready for bed as well and I saw her Valentine’s teddy bears in her closet and I liked their mouths and wanted to touch them and so I did and one of them fell and my sister got mad at me and then I went to sleep that night and dreamt of stairs I think and then a dryer vent hose and I think I also dreamt that same night that I was in a somewhat empty warehouse with someone which I don’t remember who it was but I still remember all of these to this day and I still love this movie at 19 nostalgia!
It's not as good as The Lion King (1994), but it's nowhere near as bad as the Star Wars movies either. My only major gripe with the movie is Thomas' lack of screentime. Other than that, it's a solid movie.
I like Kylie Minogue and Atomic Kitten's versions of 'The Loco-Motion' equally. Atomic Kitten did a good job of recreating Kylie Minogue's version of it, with more of a 90's feel as opposed to an 80's feel. Due to the similarities, I misremembered Kylie Minogue's version as the one that appeared in the credits. And it wasn't until I went back and played the credits a few years ago that I realised that it wasn't Kylie Minogue's version at all.
Agreed, it's hard to tell the difference between Kylie Minogue and Atomic Kitten's versions of "The Loco-Motion". Although, I kind of personally like Atomic Kitten's version more, just because it was the first one I ever heard (back when I first watched the movie when I was very little), so I just find it more nostalgic.
@@gameoholic1994 if test audiences really had a problem, a much better fix would be to simply make a US Dub of the film, and keep the UK original to her vision. That or maybe those test audiences should just deal with it. Thomas is a British franchise. You don't see us Britts demanding for Spongebob and his friends to have British voice actors do you?? The charm is the voice actors in that show, JUST like Thomas.
I don't know if you noticed but in the credits, under cast it says Young Burnett and Young Tasha. That seems very strange considering Burnett was never young in this movie and Tasha wasn't in it at all!
Maybe they left it in accidentally and never noticed it? For all we know these credits could've last been updated when director's cut elements were still there!
I just wish that they’d somewhat use the term “yes” in the end credits, too, or just change the “no animals were harmed” phrase to “animals not harmed”
@ThomastheE2engine Oh ok I see now, But I understand that before the movie was changed radically, there was a dancing scene between Young Burnett and Tasha.
Kylie Minogue has her own version of "Locomotion", released back in 1987. I think in my opinion that it's more better than the Atomic Kitten version. I even had a thought that if Atomic Kitten didn't do a recording of the song, that maybe Kylie's version would be used in the end credits for Thomas. Here's the link below if you hadn't heard it yet. czcams.com/video/ZM6SZkd-JzE/video.html&lc=UgzL9StD9eC0wlsNKvt4AaABAg
@@mitchelldrivas3541 I just heard it. It seems quite similar to the Atomic Kitten version. However, I still kind of like the Atomic Kitten version, since I heard that one first.

Yeah, production started on September 12th 1999.
wow i thought it took like 2 years!
Would’ve been a great music video for locomotion. Show the ladies on railroad tracks. Have scenes of characters dancing.
The Locomotion is the one I like best
Same here! I love their version more since I was 5!
@@jakebarrett6175 I grew up on this
Yeah I love thomas and friends I was watching long time ago I was a kid 👍👍👍👍
Omg, my brother and I used to get up on the couches and dance our hearts out to this song ❤️❤️❤️

DAMN IT! Everyone is leaving
One question HOW DID HE DIE was he too old or something killed him
He had lung cancer and died 😭
I'll never grow out of you Thomas
I’d say this movie qualifies for a remake, and they could improve all the mistakes that it was criticized for
22 n lovin' it still in this day ❤
Seeing the kids in this movie and realizing how old they are today makes me feel SUPER old and kinda emotional, and I was only born in 2000

Fun Fact:
John Bellis (credited as Transportation Coordinator) was the original voice of Thomas the Tank Engine. Sadly, thanks to a poor reception by test audiences, he and Michael Angelis (R.I.P.) who had originally voiced James & Percy were replaced in the final cut by Eddie Glenn and Susan Roman & Linda Ballantyne from the DiC/Cloverway English dub of Sailor Moon.
yeah, and also a human villain was cut due to the test audience you mentioned earlier deeming it too scary
@@sarahreaume6659
Legendary composer John Barry was to do the film score for *"Thomas & The Magic Railroad",* but he left late into production and was replaced by Hummie Mann, who ironically replaced him in the 1992 film: *"Year of The Comet".*
Oh my God I kept remembering that song but didn't know the name!!
Maybe the movie was a fail and it isn't even like Thomas but I still love it... Just Childhood memory's which will last forever... And I am still a Thomas-fan and I just miss the good old day's....
That rendition of Really Useful Engine is the one I liked the best.
I Love the Thomas and the magic railroad
Thomas and the magic railroad is the best movie ever!
I love Mr Conductor by Alec Baldwin from the Movie Thomas and the magic railroad!!
Jerome Estanislao i love Eddie glen and Neil crone.
Atomic Kitten did the 80's version I once heard at Wegmans while my mom and I were shopping there. So that version is more rock than Atomic Kitten's version from Y2K for this movie.
Best End Credits Ever and The Next Movie is Thomas & Friends: Calling All Engines (2005).

Hard to believe this movie is 20 years old
Thomas And The Magic Railroad was a box office failure because of the plot story being too confusing and that's why a lot of people hated it
Not gonna lie, I do like this movie still
3/4
I love Thomas.from Japan🇯🇵
Good choice for the end credits, The Locomotion 😊 Not a bad cover either.
I'm 22 and I can remember watching this on Netflix when it was on Netflix and still watch it once every now and then and that's not weird at all
I hate the fact that the show just feel off after Britt left the project of thomas
I would have liked an additional scene at the end of the credits in which the police stopped and arrested Pt Boomer and Sir Tophan Hatt, discovering everything that had happened in Sodor and Scolding Diesel 10 Splatter and Dodge and that after finishing the movie Thomas The Tank Engine Friends logo appears along with the Badge Saying CREATED BY A BRITT ALLCROFT COMPANY
rw:Fun Fact the voices for James and Percy are the same Voice actresses for Sailor Mars and (D'oh! >_

How can you hate a group called Atomic Kitten? Do The Locomotion is a classic song, and it's impossible to screw up.
I remember that movie

小3の頃、このエンディング達聞くために劇場に行きまくったなぁ もちろん本編も大好きでした!
Happy 75th Birthday, Thomas!
R.I.P Peter Fonda

I remember watching this is a kid
I'm only here for the really useful engine song
20 years ago... wow! I was blinded by nostalgia for a long time but I realize now it’s a messy movie, fun but messy. Can we get the directors cut now?
@@AGPfan Atomic Kitten's version was the first one I listened to too! I love them!!! 💖💖💖
ah I loved the credits to movies back then it's a shame the soundtracks aren't as good anymore
2:47 I loved Shining Time song

Who are they?
@@SecondEvilEx RW:well its in the credits for the voice actresses and btw you can look it up on Wikipedia.com Zelda
@@SecondEvilEx Linda Ballantyne (Sailor Moon) as Percy, and Susan Roman (Sailor Jupiter) as James
Great
2:49 - There’s the credit to the man who WOULD’VE BEEN the voice of Thomas. But instead, he’s just credited as Transportation Co-ordinator.
Adam Goncalves 😒 Yeah. They ignorantly rejected a British actor to voice a British character, so an American actor was hired. 😒
They rejected so many of Britt’s wishes for the film. That’s why it flopped at the box office.
Ok nvm this is a 9 year old comment....
came here for the music, but ended up actually watching the credits instead
5:54 sam loved that bit

I will miss you Burnett Stone.

I just wish that they’d somewhat use the term “yes” in the end credits, too, or just change the “no animals were harmed” phrase to “animals not harmed”
This movie was not that bad but I wish they would have made the ww2 movie Thomas with an m1 grand
He huffs and puffs and whistles rushing to and fro he's the really useful engine we adore
1:30 Know the goof: Bertie, Harold, Annie and Clarabel were trains. They were not supposed to be the trains.
The music is better than the movie, but there's no way to be sure if these were the same ones that were in the unaltered version of the film.
これめっちゃ好きだわ。
This movie had no right to go as hard as it did
This movie is Way better than Race for the sodor cup
I wonder why they didn’t show an end credits scene involving Diesel 10 and/or Splodge.
Anything like that would’ve made me laugh, even though I cried, leaving the theater when the movie ended. 😢
@@bradleycotton3237 Dang
@ThomastheE2engine Oh ok I see now, But I understand that before the movie was changed radically, there was a dancing scene between Young Burnett and Tasha.
There's no post credits scene
I have never heard any other recordings of "Locomotion." Are there any that are better than Atomic Kitten's recording?
Kylie Minogue has her own version of "Locomotion", released back in 1987. I think in my opinion that it's more better than the Atomic Kitten version. I even had a thought that if Atomic Kitten didn't do a recording of the song, that maybe Kylie's version would be used in the end credits for Thomas. Here's the link below if you hadn't heard it yet.

@@mitchelldrivas3541 I just heard it. It seems quite similar to the Atomic Kitten version. However, I still kind of like the Atomic Kitten version, since I heard that one first.
Thomas and friends will return
XD This ain't an MCU film
Does "Locomotion" show up anywhere else in the movie besides the credits?
No
The credit have goofs. It said the trains, it said the people who voice them. The characters of the trains. I see, berries, Harold, Annie & clarabel. Those characters are not trains.
