- I sold my Shasta Compact! The new owner wanted an awning for functionality and we agreed on the installation and look of the awning. Here I install the rail and setup the awning. I purchased the awning from Marti's Awning in Chico, Californina. Even though they are quite busy, they made and shipped the large customer order in less than 2 weeks.

Thanks for this demo video! I recently bought 3 1960s Shasta mini campers and picked up an awning and learning the basics as I go. Thanks for the referal on the awning guy! And I love the vintage campers group they are a wealth of information had joined quite a few last year.
Glad it was helpful!
I just bought a 1967 Shasta Loflyte and I am so excited that it already has the awning rail installed!!!!!
Nice
Very nice Shasta Compact. Beautiful awning and install. Thanks James for sharing this video. Happy trails!
Really adorable awning
Wonderful video!!! my wife and I watched it together. Perfect awning, you did an amazing job on the restoration!!!
Thanks for watching
Beautiful awning, really matches the trailer. I would want to add something to attach the screen room panels to the side of the trailer - those pesky mosquitoes will get in through any gap!
Those awnings are the best accessories for vintage trailers, especially as they double the amount of living space too. Thanks!
LOVE the screen room. Interesting seeing the work process. Thanks
I hadn't even thought about a screen room on a vintage awning until the owner asked, but it is nice and doubled the living space. Thanks
Thanks for the tips! I’m going to do this to my rv in the spring!
They really make a vintage trailer stand out but also add a great deal of functionality to a small trailer. Thanks for watching
Another great job done!
Thank you again!
Im wanting to do the same thing with my awning, the add a room is nice so the bugs arent getting you!!
Looks sweet!
Thanks! It really does add to the charm and even more to the living space too.
They sell a nice looking product. Nice install too.
It is made well too. The fabric is thick and the stitching is high quality.
Good 👍
The mosquitoes will walk or fly right through those gaps at the D Rings! Sge needed some velcro up there, and even then, it was going to be a real chore to put that up. Sge would have been better off settimg up a freestanding net , sewn into a cube shape, and drawn over to up an aluminuk frame which could have sat independently beneath the awning
That's a lot of effort for an awning. I think the new owner was very pleased.
Hi, where can I find the plastic slider that goes on the canopy to connect on the rail? I’ve been looking at some places and don’t have it separately.
Contact an awning manufactuer or repair company
Very interesting. Always learn something. Will you buy another trailer for your own use or are you too busy for this kind of recreation.
Funny you should ask. I did just pick up a 1996 terry that I spent the last two weeks rebuilding. I'm trying to bring it up to some property right now..wish me luck!
Is there a way to leave the awning attached, and roll up for moving?
It's better to remove it
@@AZExpert thanks!
Do you have to take it off before driving every time or can you drive with it rolled up?
yes it has to e removed efore travel. It's standard on these vintage awnings.
Where did you purchase the awning railing?
my local wholesaler, but vintage trailer supply should have it too
No we know how NOT to do it. Thanks for that.
what do you mean?
