- On our way to Bangkok from Toronto we had a 16 hours layover in Addis Ababa where we thankfully had access to Ethiopian Airlines business class lounge. Join us as we explore the Addis Ababa airport and business class lounge while we try to survive this long layover.

I just booked business class trip with Ethiopian Airline to Shanghai in Nov transit via ADD. Can't wait for the experience and food.

The airline provides a free hotel stay and shuttle to the hotel for layovers over 8 hours if you are transiting between two separate, international flights run by Ethiopian Airlines and if there isn’t
an earlier flight available. We were eligible for this and had a voucher but unfortunately the countries we are travelling to next would have required us to have a yellow fever shot if we left the airport in Ethiopia which is why we stayed in the airport.
Going to Bangkok in a few months with a 5 hour layover in Adis Abbaba as well. So nice to see a video that shows the inside of Ethiopian VIP Lounge so thoroughly. Great video, hope you guys had a wonderful time in Asia!

It was a great lounge ! The 16 hours flew by faster than we thought!
Yes there are hotel rooms in the airport. There is also a five star hotel called Skylight built by Ethiopian Airlines just a five minutes walk from the airport, they usually have shuttle busses that take passengers to and from the airport.
The pancakes in the first lounge looked really good.
Definitely the best option at that first lounge !

Ethiopia airline is the pried of Africa build by the African Good service best food smooth flight fire price 🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹
While we were not able to explore the country this time we were happy to get a glimpse of the culture by tasting Ethiopian food on the plane and in the lounge. We had an amazing experience flying Ethiopian Airlines. We’ll be back one day to explore the country. ❤️ - Daniel

is the hotel terminal free? and is there free wifi and free hot water available?
Hey! I’m travelling to Canada via adis ababa. Is the airport safe? I am travelling solo and kinda nervous.
I thought ETHIOPIAN offers free hotel accommodation for all passengers with a more than 8 hr layover at ADD. Not just business class but all passengers, even economy. (I know you were business) I took advantage of this in October. Did they not offer this to you guys on check-in at Toronto?
We did get the hotel voucher. Unfortunately some countries we are travelling to in the next few months would have required us to have the yellow fever if we left the airport in Addis Ababa so we were not able to take advantage of it. We heard great things about it though! Thankfully the business class lounge made the long layover comfortable. We had a great experience with Ethiopian Airlines!
@@Roadmap2Adventures you really lucked out, as Thai immigration usually also wants a yellow fever vaccine, even if you are just in transit:) about to take FCO-ADD-BKK in a few weeks and explore the city a bit.
@@Roadmap2Adventures that’s why they don’t stamp your passport on a transit visa. So that you don’t have issues with YF vaccine. Also, if you don’t want to,leave airport there is a complimentary hotel inside the airport within the secure area.
Hello, i have a 12hr layover at Addis Ababa and im flying with Ethiopian airlines. Will i need a transit visa and how is accomodation handle. Do i need to book a hotel beforehand and how much do i need to pay for the vip lounge
Many airpot lounges do not allow travelers to enter the lounge more than 3 hours ahead of their takeoff. Did you experience that at all or were you able to go right into the lounge 16 hours ahead of takeoff?
Hey there! The Premium Plaza lounge mentioned a time restriction. The Air Ethiopia business class lounge did not have any restrictions.
True, there are no restrictions afaik in business class lounges

Hey there! The voucher we got was for the hotel outside of the airport and we didn’t have a yellow fever vaccine which would have been required to visit other countries afterwards.

Hey there! If you are flying with Air Ethiopia you will receive a hotel voucher. There are two hotels. One is connected to the terminal and the other one you would have to take a shuttle to. I’m not sure if the voucher is valid for the Terminal hotel.
I always thought that ET provides complimentary hotel room for all layover over 10 hours at ADD no matter if it is a revenue or even a rewards tix?

We received a hotel voucher, but it was for a hotel outside the airport. We didn't want to leave the airport as we didn't have the Yellow-fever vaccine and Addis Ababa is in the Yellow-fever zone. Certain countries we travelled to would have required the vaccine if we left the airport.
Hiya..for the lounge, did you have to leave the transit area and do the security again for boarding? Just checking for parents who will not have visa to leave airport and have an 8 hr layover! Secondly, can the lounge access be purchased at the airport?
You won't have to leave the transit area. There are two lounges. You can only buy a pass for the Premium Plaza lounge, the other lounge is exclusive to business class travellers.
There is also a hotel in the transit area where you can get a room by the hour.
