The year is 2000 and I'm 9 years old, my grandfather got me this game and I run it for the first time. When this cinematic hit, my life was changed forever.
I remember installing the game in the year 2000, I was loading that blue disc up and started the Allied campaign. The intro cinematic starts, you can't interrupt it. At 2:58 I get flashbacks of my entire childhood
If it makes you less uncomfortable, literally everyone else in that silo died at roughly the same time. In fact, I'm pretty sure he died at the same time as everyone else, since the pistol was being used as a threat to keep the other guy from opening the doors and we never saw/heard it fire.
Makes me wonder if a triple-A title with a premise like this will ever get made again. Considering the Cold War ended practically a blink of an eye ago and how sensitive the world has became post-9/11, it's pretty doubtful. I still have the original box with the WTC twin towers in the background in the New York skyline, and plan to hold onto it for a very long time.
This game was made after the cold war. So we number 3. Not to mention they made command and conquer generals after 9/11 and they had a literal terrorist group
+Leo Howler are you sure? President Dugan sounds a lot like Reagan, and in one of the allied mission videos the British PM is a woman, suggesting Thatcher, 1979-1990s. Unless the timeline changes account for the discrepancy?
I mean that's also a reality where Hitler never existed and there are mind control technologists being used to wage war. Early 80's wouldn't surprise me, really. To say it's somewhat anachronistic is an understatement.
BucketOf Hurt Actually, some of these units are only found in RA2 concept art and the early beta of RA2. The Corkscrew Transports at 3:12, cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Corkscrew_transport, and Hydrofoil (along with the Dreadnoughts that are in the game) at 3:18, cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Hydrofoil_(Red_Alert_2). Also possibly an early version of the Flak Track is seen at 3:34 with rockets instead of a flak cannon.
zrlap The first one I thought were just amphibious transports. I can't see any Hydrofoils, only dreadnaughts and a single submarine that isn't submerged. 3:34: Well spotted
BucketOf Hurt They're what the amphibious transports were originally going to look like. They were going to have screws on the side which would manover them through terrain, notably different from the ingame ones if you look closely. Either way it doesn't matter. This opening is fantastic regardless.
I love how old time RTS devs tend to make each units with their own colors just to make sure we wouldn't be confuse during battle lol and yeah, we played excessively without a complain 😂 Miss the old days when i bring my play station to my cousin house just to play C&C lan with him. It has been long way we've come from this to Wargame RD alike. We still having a badge though lol Cmom guys we ain't that dumb Stop making blue tanks for f sake! If you really dare to make real contemporary US war machines and Soviet tanks, no need for stupid coloration, we'll know which is which as soon as we saw it! That's why as a mil geek Arma 3 is the BEST (with mods of cuz) Real mil geeks like me hit the hardest. Today just need a check on CZcams before buying new war game, and when i see stupid red and blue color on tanks and apcs, that's no go. Making me only able to play Wargame RedDragon. Haven't check the WW2 games though, but i really not into WW2 military equipment, so that's also a thing when buying game.
The main goal of the cutscenes was to make them as cringeworthy as possible, while also serving some entertainment. The first one had horrible cutscenes because that was their budget. The following games stuck with that trend as a sort of "easter egg" towards the first.
Best opening to any game ever.
+mrblob20 Haha, no way!
+mrblob20 Good joke
dawn of war.
And now it's coming true in real life.
The year is 2000 and I'm 9 years old, my grandfather got me this game and I run it for the first time. When this cinematic hit, my life was changed forever.
When developers could still place "Westwood Studios PROUDLY presents"
No words can do justice to just how amazing this cinematic is.
This intro is better than most movies can hope to achieve. When Yuri says "No comrade premier, it has only just begun" - immediate chills.
Hat Films! I DON'T GIVE A WHOODEN NICKEL!
I remember installing the game in the year 2000, I was loading that blue disc up and started the Allied campaign. The intro cinematic starts, you can't interrupt it. At 2:58 I get flashbacks of my entire childhood
Even the installation process was epic.
1:13 I don't give a HWOODEN nickel.
Red Alert 2 was so good that Putin has started working on a live action remake.
With squid navy mechanocal spiders and mind controlling yuris?
XD
I haven't seen any Kirovs or Apocalypse Tanks, so they still don't have their battle lab.
@@oldscratch426 It's not even midgame yet though, that's why he only started with conscripts!
@fluffybacon yeah just conscripts can't afford flak troopers for those pesky drones
FWHOODEN NICKEL... Emphasis on the 'FWH' :P God bless you HatFilms :')
Skyblock😂 I just rewatched it, skyblock, sipsco and trials of derpulies were my childhood😂
Whoooo-deeeen Nickel!
It appears to me that Command and conquer franchise actors never cusses!

Jjja always
Is that Mr.Palmer from Twin Peaks?
Yes, that is indeed Ray Wise.

Never mind triple-A titles. We're about to see something like this in real life!
Be Careful what you wish for.
This game was made after the cold war. So we number 3. Not to mention they made command and conquer generals after 9/11 and they had a literal terrorist group
Thank you, Hat Films. Thank you. xD
I want the Remastered of this!
nah dude they still dont need to touch it for at least another decade
Putin: Say no more
Detonating the nukes in their silos.
Wow, I didn't realize Olympus Has Fallen used this plot 😂
And now it’s actually happening
It is like a great B list movie!
I wish they would make it into a movie
Those Red Alert 2 live-action cinematics had the perfect mixture of narm and charm. I still come back to watch this from time to time.
we rrrromanov has a legacy to considerrrrrrr.
I never I thought I'd see Marvin as president of the United States
I clicked on this on accident and had great flashbacks! Anyone else notice the general is the same general from the movie Wargames

Ahhhhh, memories.
Ross was right! Im with you in this one Hornby!!
What was Ross's stance again? That wooden didn't sound all that much like whooden?
Dammit Jerry!
President was in twin peaks!
So where do i sign if i played this amazing game... but also watched hatfilms?
BEST INTRO EVER!!
Peak of human civilization
Hopefully life does not imitate art.
I haven't seen any Kirovs or Apocalypse Tanks come from Russia, so they still don't have their battle lab.
*_Sweet Mother_*
0:41 were they foreshadowing to red alert 3?
Now the shoe is on the other foot. "I am the one who put you into office"
Feb 22nd… well this is awkward.
Imagine if this had actually happened in the 1980/1990s, (without Yuri obviously).
Actually RA2 takes place in a fictional version of the 1970's. The fact that Albert Einstein is alive and well THEN is in of itself remarkable...
+Leo Howler are you sure? President Dugan sounds a lot like Reagan, and in one of the allied mission videos the British PM is a woman, suggesting Thatcher, 1979-1990s. Unless the timeline changes account for the discrepancy?

Great story and a great game either way.
Well, it almost did … Anyone remember 1983 from their history lessons?
Epic!
The blonde lady in the war room kept looking at the camera.
Also, "I don't give a vwooden nickel about your legacy. You call them ahaf."
the best intro ever haha
Monica Lewinsky.
Imagine a world without EA. Not stop imagining, this is it.
why are we here? just to suffer?
Still the best soundtrack to any video game
One word : EPIC.
Best game ever
Send in Special Agent Jack Decker!

OmFg that phone, proved they lazy to type on numbers
Leland Palmer as president? No wonder the US was in trouble!
IDF just went full RA2, lol
KIROV REPORTING
Note that HALF of the units shown in the trailer are NOT EVEN IN THE GAME!!!
All these units are in the game...

Anyone else thinks Romanov and Putin seem to have a lot in common?
@Ign1tion1 It's a bit uncalled for to say "wtf".
*hooting* *nickel*
Hoot & nickel

Why Soviet president and Yuri talkin` in English with each other?
Better than Macron talking to Putin
SHRIM
how exactly did Russia get those air ships across europe, and across the ocean without refueling or being detected?
Because it's a silly video game
What's the music at the end?
HM2
3:00 thats what all c&c games should say, not ea. EA have fucked this classic franchise up
@pallyplayerz Sueight my date?
su8 ma d8
"Proudly presents"
ehhhh, are you sure about that? this is pretty embarrassing.
+Hunter The game itself was amazing. They should be proud. Story was always a bit meh though.
+Hunter Well, they can be proud of making the best RTS ever created.
The main goal of the cutscenes was to make them as cringeworthy as possible, while also serving some entertainment. The first one had horrible cutscenes because that was their budget. The following games stuck with that trend as a sort of "easter egg" towards the first.
