Very helpful, thank you. I've always shot video either from a dedicated Canon camcorder, or through a function from one of my Nikon DSLRs. But I've started looking at Sony a bit lately, and this sort of support and how-to will be important to me in both ultimate decision and opening up my thinking to include the Sony brand.

PERFECT video!!! I can’t understate the value of a perfect and simple introductory How-To. If you are just starting out or simply wanting to refresh your memory and get back to the fundamentals, this is it. Remember nothing else and you will still do quite well. This should get you well on your way to taking good quality video.
Would love to see this guy do one on focusing. It might exist already. I’ll look.

What type of camcorder/camera do I need, do I need one that's the size of the ones behind u or will a good quality cannon camera be enough? It seems that all cameramen have those huge camcorders. Are they what I need???????

Hello How are u , I hope you are fine
Please, I am a novice in the field of photography and I bought a Sony fs700 forrecording slow and I have some questions:
1.How can I adjust the purity of the screen when I work because when i switch to super slow motion becomes dark and grainy screen, what is the appropriate procedure for that?
2.What is the difference between shutter speed and fps and how setting it in slow motion?
3.important: Can I extract 960 frames per second on my laptop when recording in super slow motion? I want to get 960 single image per second and transform it into a laptop device, how I can do that? I hope help me give me any information about it as soon as possible, and you all thanks and appreciation Dear

I think the best advice anyone can give is to just get out there and shoot. It's advice I did not want to hear when I first started out, and I skipped from forum to forum searching for that magical piece of information that would turn me into a pro overnight. As time went on (and as more and more projects were under my belt) I began to understand that these pros, ever-reluctant to recommend a specific camera or editing program, were right. I began to see a change in my style as well as my eye for filmmaking the more that I went out and completed new projects. I was learning from my mistakes, and that, put rather simply, is priceless. Did that documentary you shot last week leave all of your subjects with an orange hue? You just learned to check your white balance before the next project. Was everything too bright in that action-packed short film you made with some of your friends yesterday? Now you know to check the meter on your camera (and possibly use Zebras as well) to make sure your next film is properly exposed. There are plenty of reviews on cameras and lenses to help you find a good starting point (B&H Photography being one of my favorite places to research products), but the most important thing is to buy a camera and get out there! The more you trip on your front steps, the more likely you are to step a little higher next time. You will fall on your face (probably numerous times). Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and press record again. Good luck!

+SLWassets Actually, I did do a few years as a best boy and electrician on the local scene here, all for nothing as you say! I also don't use a DSLR , I shot stills since I was 12 and did that for 20yrs till I discovered video about 15yrs ago. I now have a Sony HXR NX3 ,my first "Serious" camcorder with a Miller stick . I only shoot for my you-tube channel but wan't good results, but you do learn new tricks as you go, doesn't mean you're a "pro" but it all helps.
      Cheers Gregg.
