    This is so f'n nuts. This was the 80's, and it's clearly a young Jeff and Jimmy. Drummer looks like Chris, just kind of hard to tell with that stache and haircut. I'd have to guess the singer is Honeycutt......but yes, Jeff coined the name Jackyl and drew the dog when in high school. And one day Stiff was riding his bike past the Worley household, heard them blasting Sabbath, and knocked on the door....and boom, we had Jackyl. All they were missing was JJD to take them to a record deal with Kalodner and Geffen.

      Yes, Tom too...not sure when he joined, as here in this vid whoever is playing bass, it's not Tom. Great video on YT with Tom talking about his career and showing how to boil bass strings in order to reuse them.

    Yea that’s definitely Jeff, Chris and jimmy took me a little while to recognize them but it is. Even though they’d probably be embarrassed by this lost footage but the music isn’t terrible but not that good either but you can still hear that rough edge even then

    Yeah, Jeff and Jimmy on guitar, Chris on drums and Cliff on bass. Looks like they were playing Caesars in Easley. Caught them a lot in the 80s when they were a club band. They were killer.

      Can you share more on who Cliff was/is? I know Jackyl history pretty good but not familiar w/Cliff, and/or where and when Tom joined.

    HA HA ...If you hung out or worked at Danny's Rock n Roll in Marietta GA, I worked there as a bartender. Then ya probably saw this Jackyl pre Jesse. Screw it, I'll tell the DL, , "Jesse needed a new band, Jackyl came into Danny's to play a gig with some lead singer, (could've been this guy, I don't remember). Anyway, after the band had a sit down with Jesse, the singer was out a job and Jesse had himself a new band. So then and there Jackyl was reborn with the new front man Jesse James Dupree. Seems like it was a damn good decision, 25+ years and they're still holdin' it down".
    So there's the truth about Jackyl. ;)

    • @joeblough261
      @joeblough261 Před 3 měsíci +1

      It's not really on the DL, Jeff has shared this story on many a podcast and they're still friends with the orig singer Ronnie Honeycutt, who was the guy Jesse replaced. Jeff said he took it well. Ronnie has a cool AC/DC style band called Rufus Fontain, and also has produced a lot of people including the notorious Jimmy Stiff after he went solo with his Christian music. This here isn't Ronnie singing, it's some dude named Brett Elliot I guess. And sadly, RIP Ronnie Honeycutt passed away the other day..very sad.

So very sad, he seemed to have gone very quick after a stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis. I do listen to Rufus Fontain periodically. Ronnie was def way better than this dude, Brett Elliot of Seneca. it was indeed Jackyl, before the original Redneck Punk Ronnie Honeycutt joined, and then was let go for Jesse James Dupree. Jeff chose the name Jackyl after wanting to be Damien, but there was another band already named Damien, so he chose Jackyl and drew up the logo while still in HS.
