After a nearly four-decade professional career, the Statler Brothers decided to bring a stop to touring and held a final farewell concert in Salem, Virginia on October 26, 2002. The show was filmed for a DVD that was released the following year.
The group disbanded and retired after completing a farewell tour on October 26, 2002. Balsley and Don Reid continue to reside in Staunton, as did Harold Reid until his death in April 2020; Fortune, though, relocated to Nashville, where he continues his music career as a solo artist, having released three albums under his own name. The Statlers remain one of the most awarded acts in the history of country music.[
Don Reid has pursued a second career as an author. He has written six books of his own. Reid and his sons Donald II "Debo" and Langdon co-wrote You Know It's Christmas When . . . His brother Harold and he co-wrote a history of the Statler Brothers titled Random Memories, released in February 2008. In 2020, Reid wrote a complete anthology of the Statlers' songs, simply titled The Music of the Statler Brothers.

Perhaps the greatest quartet ever! I love EVERY song that these wonderful men have recorded. There will never be another group like the Statlers. I cried when I heard that Harold had passed away.

I agree wholeheartedly. I've loved them for over 50 years now. Their music has been a part of my life and helped me get through so much. I miss them. I pray they will be rediscovered in this generation. I'll never forget them.
Agree.
The Statler's were and still are the best, I got to see them them in concert in Bakersfield, California. .I think it was in the 70s. My best friend and I used to go to Country Concerts. I have lost track of my best friend, she moved and later I was divorced and also moved away. I now live in Texas and wish I could find my best friend from those days.
I grew up with this group playing pretty much all throughout my childhood, and I had forgotten all about that 2nd tenor's voice. Took me by total surprise.
Great memories
Was there that night in Salem. Fabulous and sad at the same time. Wished they’d have played longer. I could have stayed all night. GOAT.
Let us research this, their music still lives on in many people's hearts

*chuckle I'm a Long time Statler Fan I met them and Johnny Cash way back when I was 6 yrs old. (1972) I am a Home Fry and one of the reasons is Home Free is the Vocal group that reminds me of the Statler Brothers. the Humor the Great Harmonies The way they Love each other and are so proud of each other HF and the Stats are some of the Best Human Beings that have ever Human Be-inged.
well shoot I forgot to mention HF has Story Time with Tim (Foust) he's their Bass and admits to being a Harold Reid Fan growing up. It must be a Bass thing to also be witty . Tim is every bit as good as Harold was with the funny.
