Great news! And very impressive Baby owls of all the species I’ve seen are such puff balls, but the Little Owls are more like cotton balls…so cute. I hope none of the other owl families get those mites. So pleased you received such funding. It’s so important for efforts like this to have long term monitoring. Otherwise they will likely fail.

Really love that you addressed why the human intervention is so important too. Wanting to get it to a stable place so it can be what it once was. Fixing what was human devestated by human interference, now just in a good way!

So great you are helping them! I wish you’d consider helping out with the PNW problem between the spotted owl and the bared owl. The barred owl has invaded the habitat of the very rare & endangered spotted owl. And it more aggressive & winning the battle for habitat. The proposal is to cull the barred owl to save the spotted owl. It’s all so sad. If they allow amateurs to hunt the barred they will most likely confuse the two. Idk what is the answer but if the spotted owl is gone the old growth forest that was saved for them will be at threat. Your help is needed I believe! ❤
thanks for still maintaining your first projects. maybe you you ll find some projects to help bat in the future. i would like to see someting more of those animals

Of course I understand having to maximize the amount of owls that survive and justifying the treatment of mite, but wouldn't it create a problem of a population being more susceptible to the pressure of mites and will cause then to not be able to combat it in the future?

Here, where I live in Belgium, we have apparantly one of the highest densities of little owls in Europe. In hear these birds almost every evening.
