    No different than an auto, we all like what we like. When we moved to TV in early 2022 the inventory of both new and used carts was severly low. Fortunately for us, we have a friend who was a former car sales colleague of my husband back in R.I. who now lives in TV and works in sales at Villages Discount Golf Carts and sold us exactly the cart we wanted which is a 2022 4 rear facing seat gas Yahama Quiet Tech which back flips down to make a cargo bed. After having this cart for a year we have absolutely no regrets in purchasing it and where we putchased it from that has provided us great service. And having the two extra seats we are able to take our two grand daughters when they visit by golf cart to the pool, squares, rec centers, etc. And I can say the same purchasing a home with 2 plus a golf cart garage as I can't imagine not having that extra space which has turned onto my she shed where I do all my crafting projects. Glad you are as happy with your cart that meets your needs as we are with ours that meets our needs.

    Electric carts have been know to start fires in garages in The Villages. It has happen many times in the 10 years I have lived here. Also, as the battery ages, you will get less and less distance and power from your battery. You can buy a lot of gas for the cost to replace that battery, and it will eventually need to be replaced.

    • @GolfingTheVillages
      @GolfingTheVillages  Před 8 měsíci +9

      While you entitled to your opinion, and i totally appreciate it, I would like to offer some facts for people to decide with. According to the Villages Golf Car store "No EZ Go Lithium cart has ever caught fire in a garage." So I would be curious to know more make and model of the Lithium carts which have caught fire. I am sad to say you are ill advised on Lithium battery aging. Lithium's do not age, meaning a loss of power and distance that is a lead acid idea that no longer applies. I will agree that you can buy more gas in fact $3000 worth of gas because that is essentially the upcharge difference in Lithium versus Gas. People will have to decide for themselves if the upfront investment warrants the long term benefits. I could also say you fill an empty tank for $15 and I charge full for less than $2. It's worth mentioning that the most recent Golf Cart fire in Brownwood was a gas cart that went up in flames. On Sept 30 at Brownwood a Gas cart erupted into flames and here is the article. www.villages-news.com/2023/09/30/golf-cart-fire-erupts-during-event-at-brownwood/

      I would not take the word of someone selling golf carts about its safety. Better to check with The Villages Fire Department rather than take my word for it as well. Only time will tell the truth. There are electric car battery fires almost daily, most not reported.

      You can continue to be skeptical all you want as is your right. However TVGC Store has one of the largest data sets in the world pertaining to Golf Cars since they sell and service one of the largest fleets. You are implying they are knowing selling fire starters with little data to back it up other than some vague references. They have a reputation to maintain in the community as the leading Golf cart retailer and you don't do that by burning customers . I agree the fire department data and even insurance claim data would be beneficial in reviewing. If what you say is true it would be more to insure due to the risk and that's just not the case. Thank you for the civil debate I enjoy the back and forth.

      @steveunangst Před 8 měsíci +5

      Respectfully disagree. I have an electric car and would never go back to gas vehicle. Even if the battery does need to be replaced it will have value and... at worst case can be recycled/reused for some other purpose. Also statistically a gas vehicle is more likely to catch fire than EV. As an owner with experience, I've discovered a ton of misinformation out there.

    Thanks for the informative video Rick. We purchased the same cart last month - 2024 version. I’m so glad we went with the lithium battery. It’s very easy to plug in every day or so. No range anxiety, great pickup, regenerative brakes, no fueling up, no nasty smell, no loud engine noise. I believe in 5 years they won’t be selling many gas models. Also, not sure if you mentioned it but self canceling turn signals are a must. Thanks again.

    One thing you didn’t mention was the bar in the middle of the windshield (to allow the windshield to be folded down). We test drove several golf carts before buying, and that line was right at my wife’s eye level.
    We purchased the Yamaha QuieTech II (gas) cart and do NOT have that issue. It has the folding bar, but it is not at either of our eye level.
    I do want to change the rear view mirror on mine, as (being 6’1 myself) is a bit too low for my taste. If you know if a better replacement, I’d CB love to hear it.
    Pretty much agree with all your other must haves (except seat belts … I’ll have to consider that addition) 🤔
    Another great video … keep up the good work.

    • @GolfingTheVillages
      @GolfingTheVillages  Před 9 měsíci +6

      That is a fantastic point, I did remove my "Air Damn" or Air "Dampener" which I believe was the term the Villages Golf Car store used to describe that particular part. It was the base holding the larger mirror in place. It really is unnecessary and you can see my cart functions very well without it. The low profile mirror that I have now is the one that Villages Golf Cars store installed and I couldn't be happier. I have a much more unobstructed view. I did feel the same way initially towards seatbelts on a golf cart, but the only time I use them is when traveling to and from on any road with other vehicles or the multi-modal trails. Golf Cart accidents do happen and it is possible to be ejected from the golf cart. In theory the seatbelt should stop inertia from causing you additionally bodily harm. Great point and excellent comment as usual. Thank You.

    In my opinion, golf carts are the way to go due to the fact that you don’t have to spend extra money filling up the gas tank. If you really need to go out that far, you’re better off going out in your car. The biggest thing with golf cars is keeping the batteries charged And not over charged. Rick, Thanks for doing this video. Loved all of the bells and whistles on your cart. Love the lights and the side curtains. I am surprised I did not see a golf cart fan on your rig.
    I live in another over 55 community. Ours is fairly large and has 63 holes of golf. The electric EZGO is the way to go. I would guess that yours new is a 17-18k plus cart with all of the features. I would love to get that cart. However, have to keep my 1999 Club Car (named OLD RED} because I need a new roof right now. Enjoy your cart. The 8 year battery guarantee is a big selling point. So if you assume a 10 battery life, buy the cart new, replace the battery at 10yrs for $3200, you get to $1000 per year for 20 yrs at the end of the cart's life with a dead battery and some kind of salvage value.

Last time I had to use it was when I was in lived in Texas. I do so enjoy hearing about other golf communities due to the fact that is how we became interested in and ultimately found the Villages. Correct the EZ GO Lithium does place about a 3K premium on the price versus Gas carts and you are spot on with the overall price point I paid. I should also mention that The Villages Golf Car store no longer even sells a lead acid battery cart. I believe the quote was, it's a dead technology. You are down to just lithium battery or internal combustion engines. Thank You so much for watching and commenting. I hope to hear from you again.

      @GolfingTheVillages  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Great question, so with my annual service I was asked to bring in the charger. As I understand it they monitor the overall health of the battery (covered under warranty) along with applying an updates to the cart as well as addressing any manufacturer recall/updates for any outstanding model specific issues. Of course they also have a multi-point inspection of the cart which they perform as well. It was a flawless process and I was even provided a complimentary loaner for the duration of my service. The Villages Golf cart store completed the service in under 5 hours. I was very happy with the process and I have no issues with having that be my regular maintenance program. Wonderful question, thank you so much.

    I am a golf cart geek and I love your video. You brought up an important topic pertaining to range. 50+ miles range with the lithium battery and the ability to travel with the only sound being the friction between the road and rubber tires. How often if ever would a person find themselves traveling more than 50 miles in any given day? I guess it could be done. I guess if you feel you might be going more than 50+ miles per day, then you should get the gas cart. I know for sure I will be taking a serious look at the lithium battery golf cart. Enjoy driving in silence!

      I installed the speaker myself. It has several types of mounting brackets and installation options included with the unit. The battery is that large unit on the back it just clicks in place. The headroom in my cart was a bit low as I showed in the video but you could mount it into the frame of the golf cart by drilling some holes and using a bolt up system. I installed it on the canopy frame/basket section of my cart which I think worked out very well and gives me access to the buttons and rechargeable battery. Wonderful question, I hope my answer was helpful.

    Would there be a problem keeping your electric golf cart in hot garage?

    • @GolfingTheVillages
      @GolfingTheVillages  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Great question, I have a west facing garage which can be especially hot during summer especially at sunset and I have had zero issues. I have charged the cart during the day, evening and I have had no issues at all. From what I understand the charger has overcharge protection and some people leave it plugged in all the time. I charged the cart and left it unplugged for 2 weeks just sitting and the battery was still fully charged and ready to go. My experience has been a positive one.

  • @thomasaccuntius9946
    @thomasaccuntius9946 Před 5 měsíci +1

    You should have gotten a Yamaha. Their carts are about 3" taller which I like because I am 6' tall. The Yamaha seats are about 4" wider, you can take a club car seat and it will fit in between the armrests on the Yamaha. Also I have a gas cart, so I dont have to pay $700 to $800 for batteries in 5 years.

    • @GolfingTheVillages
      @GolfingTheVillages  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yes I agree that the extra height and width of the Yamaha would be nice to have in the EZ-Go; however but I can't stand the smell of exhaust fumes and the running noise of the so called quiet tech motors on the Yamaha. To me both of those negatives cancel out any potential benefit of a roomier cabin. According to my Villages Golf Car paperwork I have a 3 year factory Warranty from EZ Go and 8 Year Unlimited Amp Hour Battery Warranty so I am sleeping well at night. After 8 years, I'll be happy to update the video with any out of pocket costs I am hit with. If it were really worrisome I could have used my gas savings money to fund an account for possible battery replacement, but again I'm just not worried. According to some other comments my cart will have blown up or caught on fire by then so 8 years feels like an eternity. Thank You for the comment, i appreciate your point of view.

    Can I use my Polaris ranger sxs on these routes?

    • @GolfingTheVillages
      @GolfingTheVillages  Před 5 měsíci +1

      The answer is it depends on the classification of the Polaris as a vehicle type, and you would need to clarify with a district representative . The DistrictGov.org website which sets forth the guidelines current reads as follows "Multi-modal paths are intended for the enjoyment of non-automotive traffic such as bicycles, golf cars and pedestrians. Vehicles are not permitted on any of the multi-modal paths in The Villages, which includes automobiles, smart cars, motorcycles or mopeds." Here is a link to the District Website; www.districtgov.org/ and here is a link to the PDF for the Multi-Modal: www.districtgov.org/PdfUpload/VCDD103_Multi-Modal%20Paths_Flyer_5.5x8.5_0123.pdf I hope this helps a bit. That's quite the trek if you are traveling from the Spanish Springs area down to Southern Oaks, it's an hour plus each way. I also suspect you aren't doing that on a regular basis but from time to time which proves my point about range. The extended range which is the major selling point of Gas over Electric is rarely realized. If your daily round trips are more than 60 miles a day in The Villages then yes you need a Gas cart. Plus the Villages is only getting larger you may need a Gas cart if you are coming from Spanish to the new Eastport area. Who knows, one day The Villages Golf Cart store or the town squares will open up charging stations for Electrics. Wouldn't it be great to be able to charge while you putt around the town squares. The future is fun. Thanks for watching and commenting.

      @jvabsher Před 5 měsíci +1

      At about the 6:00 the audio starts talking about undercarriage lighting while the video is demonstrating the removability of the cooler on the back of the cart. That seems to be where the problem starts. You can clearly hear the cooler being opened and closed and a woman speaking along with the narrative which is obviously speaking of something else entirely.

      @@GolfingTheVillages, it's rather obvious you added the narrative after the video was shot. But at around the 6:00 mark you start talking about the LED lighting while the video is concentrated on the cooler and ball washer. It seems to go back to normal for the next segment.

      Same here: Gas only (no interest in anything electric, be it a golf cart or EV). And that's partly because -- even though I wouldn't be going out every day -- when I DO go out it's likely I'd do more that 50 miles. Presently, I'm looking at a gas Club Car Onward Lifted 4-seater. If I need to go OUTSIDE The Villages, I'll have my Jeep. :-)
