- The Texas A&M Aggies football program, led by Mike Elko, is having an outstanding offseason. Texas A&M has done a great job in recruiting and the transfer portal. But the work Mike Elko has done for the Aggies culture is undeniably the most important. Fans of the Texas A&M Aggies should be really excited by this news.

Mike Elko is the first time since R.C. Slocum that Texas A&M hasn't gone flashy.
Dennis Franchionie - Alabama HC and one of the hottest names in CFB
Mike Sherman - Former NFL head coach, and a big name in coaching circles.
Kevin Sumlin - The absolute hottest coaching name in the G5 out of Houston
Jimbo Fisher - Massive steal of national title winning HC
So for the first time in over 30 years Texas A&M didn't go flashy. The last time we did that we had one of the best runs in A&M football history.
The problem was Jimbo. 2024's defense will be really good. Keep them in a lot of games and winning more than ppl think.
Elko is the next SLOCUM We will win alot of games Gigem
We committed the CFB football "Sin" of fumbling 3 Five Star QBs in a row after Johnny Manziel...yes THREE (Kenny Hill, Kyler Murray, Kyle Allen).
Fisher did a lot of this in his first couple of years to undo the same sort of "sloppiness" from the latter Sumlin years, and it paid off. Not sure why he let his foot off of the accelerator, so to speak.
Money does that to you and when there’s nobody to keep you in check it’s a lot easier to go OFP… well, until the boosters have enough of it which they showed last year with the massive buyout
The game changed during his first 3 years. I mean, in 2021, Saban mentioned he had to change his was of thinking and offensive scheme to keep up with the times, Jimbo didn't.
I think Elko and Schmidt (Strength and Conditioning Coach) left and things started getting sloppy again.
Richmond Webb...should be in the HOF
This
I was mind boggled by the fact that it seemed nobody realized that Jimbo was never going to be a disciplined coach when all you had to do was look at his own boys. It was obvious Jimbo was never going to set nor be the example needed for the players.
Richmond Webb and Luke Jokel
It happened overnight at Duke
Sure hope so.
I can’t even muster any Aggie jokes. Just freaking win something of significance already.
Gig Em!
It's interesting. You have Mike Sherman. Zero flash. All substance, though never quite got the hang of the college turnover pace. Then Sumlin. Mega flash. Mega swagger. As my F-I-L would say, "All hat, no cattle". Then Fisher. Not so much as Sumlin, a little more...centered. Certainly less flashy. But still, at least after the Covid short season, a lack of insistence of accountability at all stages of the program, not just performing on Saturday. Now, Elko. A lot closer to Sherman in the personal glitz/glam factor but much more dialed in to the demands and realities of college football.
So A&M erred on the side of a little more flash, but more substance, when they hired Fisher. Now they have gone even further towards the Mike Sherman side of things. I am hopeful that this meat and potatoes, with just a light helping of desert approach to program and player development with bear the most dividends of these last 4 HCs. I strongly suspect it will. but it might take 2-3 seasons to fully realize the vision. Regardless of what this year looks like.
To be honest Mike Sherman had A&M heading into the right direction. The guy got Manziel to A&M, developed one of the greatest offensive lines in A&M history, and even developed a team that refused to quit. I’d like to say he was exceptional when it came to developing talent but he just wasn’t a good game day coach. Obvious he lost his edge after he got fired from Green Bay. Sumlin is the one who inherited that team and benefited off of Manziel. But after Manziel’s multiple interviews/documentaries it’s pretty apparent that Sumlin was nothing more than a drunk scumbag at the end of the day. Jimbo was stubborn but an excellent recruiter. Showed A&M that they could recruit at the best if not better than majority programs in the country but he got in his own way in the end and refused to keep himself accountable for his failures, that trickled down to the players. Let’s see what Elko brings to the table. I think the defense will always be great with him as HC.
This dude is wearing an orange shirt!
It's not burnt yet but it seems he is slipping. 😅
Is it just me or does he kinda look like Elko
Seth McKinney!
He needs Jonah and Fasusi desperately.
Richmond Webb+Chris "Dirty" Dausin 👍👍

ew, bad take on jimbo not being in charge of the culture...regardless of the players. I don't think you realize how much of a micro mgr he was.
Culture issues were less than pre Jimbo era but still a problem that held A&M back. There were definitely issues under Fisher.
It’s not really fair to say A&M hasn’t been good at all over the last half decade. Look at the 2019 season. A&M went 7-5 but all five losses were to higher ranked teams that all recruit consistently better than A&M. That was the projected record for the season.
Suffice it to say, I thought Jimbo did fine at A&M. He had a great 2020 season. His teams after that year dealt with a lot of injuries and tough schedules. It was time to move on.
don't do a split screen unless the other person looks like he is engaged and professional
If he did not fire jimbo he fixed nothing
Texas A&M, permanently shutout in all BCS games, cemented in history.
98-99 Sugar Bowl says otherwise
@@wd6919 A&M lost to ohio? u truly are a example of A&M intellect
@@datboi449 Your statement implied they had not been to any BCS games. They have. They also were not shut out during the game. Now if you'd said they never won a BCS game then fair enough. But you're the one that misspoke
