  • A quiet winter day in Somerset, or perhaps not! A busy day at Cranmore on the East Somerset Railway saw 4110 in steam for its insurance examination. With 4555 also in steam for an internal test (as well as 1719 'Lady Nan' not featured) the opportunity was taken to operate 4110's first loaded test runs top and tail with the 45xx between Cranmore and Merryfield Lane. 4555 is also seen heading west to Merryfield Lane with an engineers train to release a wagon for the ESR's forthcoming gala.
Apologies for the last shot being a little out of focus!

Wow, fantastic 👍 I like the paint work done on 4110 and would like to see this loco down in the Southeast one day.

Nice set thanks. Saw others of 4110 trundling the shed last week. Looks superb. 4555 ended her career at Tyseley, being bought into preservation. Under a local agreement even managed to remain in traffic until shed closed to steam in 67.

Glad you liked it, and the loco! Yes, seen a few shots of 4555 in GWR livery around that period.

@@g4vvz I'll be honest I don't remember it myself, but older friends did. They encouraged me to join BR as a teen in 73, best job ever!!
