- KINGSTON, Jamaica - He was once a jockey, with high aspirations of being among the best in the pigskin.
Then after weight intervened plus a long period of overseas absence, he returned to the local racing circuit, eventually entering the school for trainers of thoroughbred horses.
He is now a trainer, hoping to strike success by dint of hard work and determination.
He is trainer Donovan Clarke, who shares his Lifetime Narrative with Quickgallop.com, and its CZcams Channel, The Quick Galloper.
Thanks family, I am glad that you were able to make this interview, guess what? I was living on Bay Farm Road in Jamaica in about 1986 when he started to ride, I know him personally because his family used to live about two houses down the street from me and when he just got his jockeys license he told me, jockey N. Hepburn used to visit the area and he told me that he was his good friend. Long story short, D. Clark little brother, Carlton was also a good friend of mine and in 1986 Boxing Day Carlton and I took the bus to the race track, I remember Robert Reid winning featured race, I don’t remember the horse name but it was either Mr. D or Raggamuffin. Michael Redwood won a classic race that day, I think the horse was Shining Hour. After the races D. Clark introduced me and his brother to R. Reid and some of his fellow riders. I lost contact with the family but now that D. Clark is now a trainer I will try and get some links, he is a very nice person. God bless.
