10 Natural Ways to Remove Tartar Buildup
Vložit

- Tartar sauce might be great on your fish, but nobody likes to have tartar on their teeth. And I’m talking about bacteria-filled plaque that hardens and stains your pearly whites. It occurs when you forget the golden rule of 3: brush, floss, and rinse. When not removed, it becomes rough and can actually lead to gum disease. Not to mention, those yellowy stains can make you feel pretty self-conscious about your smile.
But don’t worry! You’ve got everything you need to pulverize that plaque right in your kitchen! You can use baking soda, orange peel, or even strawberries and tomatoes for doing this! We at Bright Side are on bad teeth, bad breath, and poor oral care patrol. Here are 10 ways to get rid of tartar and shine bright like a diamond.

SUMMARY:
- Mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with a pinch of salt and put some of this mixture on your toothbrush. Alternatively, you can add it to your regular toothpaste too.
- If you’re looking to get rid of stains and tartar buildup from your teeth, simply rub the white part of the peel directly over your teeth for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Replace orange peel with lemon juice if you want better and faster results.
- Sesame seeds act as a natural scrub that both polishes and cleans your teeth.
- Mix 1 tablespoon of antiseptic mouthwash with 3 tablespoons of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution. Gargle this mixture for a couple minutes and follow it up with clean water.
- In a popular procedure calling “oil pulling,” the coconut oil absorbs dirt in the mouth, reduces tartar and plaque, and helps you get rid of bad breath.
- Both tomatoes and strawberries are rich in vitamin С, so you can use them if lemons or oranges aren’t your thing. Chop up and blend either of them into a paste and put it on your teeth.
- Mix 1 teaspoon of pure aloe vera gel, 4 teaspoons of vegetable glycerin, 10 drops of lemon essential oil, and 4 tablespoons of baking soda in 1 cup of water to get a smooth paste.
- Grind the cloves (or find a ready-made powder), add a little olive oil, and apply the mixture to the stained areas.
- Sanguinaria is a plant more commonly known as bloodroot. But it’s not as weird as it seems at first glance; bloodroot extract is often included in toothpaste!

Hi! As a dental student, the most effective way of removing plaque is through mechanical disruption which is basically toothbrushing. And don't sweat it out if you have yellowish teeth, it's normal. What you have to keep in mind is gingivitis which is the inflammation of your gums as bacteria moves inside it.
What can someone who has gingivitis do to treat it?
Hey since you're a dental student please tell if small teeth tend to buildup more tartar since it's hard to brush and reach out to small places
Thankyou!
@@cristelecabague1163 Hi! Sorry for the super late reply. If you have gingivitis, (which most of us do), the solution is to visit your dentist 1-2x a year. Since the anatomy of your teeth and its supporting structures (e.g., the gingiva) have such small spaces in between them, your toothbrush can only do so much. Your dentist will then have the adequate tools and techniques to disrupt the microorganisms your toothbrush cannot reach. Hope this helps!
@@amisha25211 Hi! Sorry also for the late reply! So the formation of calcular deposits (/tartar) is actually largely related to its proximity to your salivary glands. So in relation to your question, if you are pertaining to your mandibular incisors when you meant “small teeth”, the back of it in particular, this is because it is actually near a salivary gland thus making it prone to formation of deposits.

Clove is magical spice for tooth ache.!!!
Back in Africa, we use grinded charcoal from burnt woods to whiten teeth. It was super effective and works immediately. Used once in months
Back in Bangladesh too
Ohh I'm from Bangladesh too 😲😮
Very true
How to use
In Bangladesh Also. Love u from bd
I use the oil pulling with the coconut oil. Not only did my teeth become whiter, verified by my dentist, but it also helped with my oversensitive teeth.
Cindy Curran I only have coconut oil in the more solidified form in a tub. Would it work if I applied it to my teeth for 10-15?
@@ohohvalerie Mine is also solidified, but when you put it in your mouth it will melt. I only oil pull for 10-15 minutes so it does work. Just so you know, it does takes weeks to be effective.
@@cindybriden372 how many days it took for you to whiten ur teeth??
@@nusratfatima5148 It's hard to say exactly how many days, but I can say that it is a slow process. At least it was slow for me, I would say I did it everyday for about a month or so and now I do it about 1-4 times a week. also I don't know how bad your teeth are stained so it may take more or less days for you to see a difference. I would say it took less then two months. Also, beside my dentist a friend noticed my teeth whiter too.

Don't spit coconut oil into the sink. I spit it into a little pile of tp in the trashcan. It will congeal & clog the sink
How long after oil pulling can we brush our teeth?
Lol there’s this thing called a melting point and coconut oils melting point is lower then the average temperature of tap water lol
OK but l use oil pulling since months now that l live in the same place and l spit in in the sink without any problem. The only caution l take is to let very hot tap water flow a while after l spit
Use the runny líquid cocout oil. (Walmart or where ever) You can spit it anywhere. Just not the floor. People Will slip
How often should we do oil pulling?

Thank you! Just used baking soda and salt to start. Removed so much buildup and stains after one use. Will continue other steps.
Brush teeth twice daily with toothpaste, nothing helped.
Teeth are smooth with no rough feel.
What a difference!
just had to ask since I have some really bad tartar buildup in the lower frontal molars and canines of mine and I can't go to the dentist, does this actually reduce the tartar and make your teeth healthier or does it just make your teeth healthier?
Makes sense. I was eating orange for a while after starting a job at an orange factory and tartar literally broke clean away from my teeth. I thought I lost a tooth
Woah! How much tartaar did you have?
I need that job too 😁
Is this true??

Stealing oranges is bad

Wow no offense but i expected this comment to have way more likes i liked it by the way.
I just wanted to add when you do the coconut technique remember to spit the coconut oil into a trash or other outgoing receptacle & NOT into your sink BECAUSE it could cause plumbing problems.
Miswaq - Neam stem , Charcoal & definitely Clove are very good for keeping your teeth germ free & bad breath free... also Clove is very efficient in reduce tooth ache 😊

Coconut...and clove One... are the Most practical... I could hang onto😀

Another way is to use charcoal to brush your teeth. Normally I buy charcoal supplements either from GNC or any health store I will then open the tabs and mix it with my toothpaste and the result are sparkling teeth. But when I'm back home in Africa i just pick charcoal from our kitchen and use it directly on my teeth. The use of charcoal to remove plaque and whiten teeth has been practiced in Africa right from time immemorial.
What about the anamel?
Most Africans have beautiful teeth. Your soil is better.
You have to use Activator charcoal not just any charcoal
Jean but can u use natural charcoal cause I have it and I’m scared it may wear down my anamel
I just had a deep cleaning at my dentist's office today. Thanks for the information.

Thank you for sharing helpful TIPS.
Coconut oil is best teeth whitening home remedy I've ever used. I swish it around in my mouth twice a day and brush with baking soda once a week. Those used along with sensodyne toothpaste are miracle workers.
I used baking soda once a day for 3 months. It did not work. I will now try the coconut oil . Think Apple cider vinegar will do the job of removing plaque but doesn't taste to good.
Do it also remove plaques or strong tartar.?... cuz I've started getting them😭😭😭
I heard somewhere long ago that chewing on fibrous vegetables and fruits like carrots, radishes, celery, apples, and bell peppers wipes away food debris, so I usually eat one of these fruits or vegetables after eating sweets or meals and I have eliminated cavities, plus they make my mouth feel clean.
Yes this is very true, celery being the most effective, I am a dentist by the way
I learned that in primary school about 50 years ago. It worked then, and it still works now.
Tnx bright side for making lots of useful videos.

These are great tips! I usually add coconut oil to my baking soda. It helps whiten teeth as well and makes a paste with it. I also oil pull with coconut oil. I was wondering if it’s safe to do with mercury filling that has chipped? I miss going places even a dentist.

Try the oil pulling with coconut oil and add about 4-6 drops of clove oil and swish it around in your mouth for at least 2 minutes. The clove oil is antibacterial and antimicrobial, it's strong stuff and highly concentrated. If you do this ,you're using the coconut oil as a carrier oil for the clove. It's not any more unpleasant than mouthwash, you'll get used to it- just don't swallow it! If you do, I would suggest being near a toilet or be outside if that happens.
What's going to happen?

Plaque and tartar are not interchangeable words. Tartar is a calcified substance attached to your teeth which needs a sharp instrument and controlled muscle to remove. Plaque is a soft sticky substance that can be brushed off or you could use these ideas. Happy brushing!
Excellent information 👍
Use of mustards oil with pinch of salt also helpful.
I've used oil pulling with coconut oil, hydrogen peroxide and baking soda as well as coconut oil and baking soda paste
did it work well?

Coconut oil taste really good 😋
I will use the mouthwash and orange ty for the video
Magnesium - milk of magnesia or magnesium oil. Many people are deficient, but without enough magnesium calcium can't go into teeth and bones where it belongs. I'm not sure (haven't done it a lot) but I think after I swished with magnesium oil for a few minutes and swallowed it (did a couple of days), some tartar was softer and came off. It will also help with teeth sensitivity, because it's remineralizing your teeth with what they need. Whiten as well.
I've chewed Cloves all my life since I was 10-11years old. Its true that I've never had any terrible tooth issue but I got a bit of stains around the big teeth inside my mouth. 🙄
I'm actually lazy to brush teeth at night 🙈 I just gurgle with salt water before bed! I hope I've always brushed my teeth before bed !!
