My Uncle, Neil David Menzies passed away on 8-17-19. He was the creator
of these videos. He would tell me stories of his tour in Germany. Even
though he would sometimes tell the same stories over again, I will miss
this greatly. I am proud of his service and I will always have fond
    memories of my Uncle Neil.

I knew your uncle Neil. He was a kind hearted and good man. His sister Heather was a good friend of mine and often wore his army jacket when we went camping. I remember Heather telling me when he returned to the Berlin Wall. I miss them both. His service is appreciated.

Jack Miller I arrived B Company, 8th S&T, in Nov. 1964. I was there until my enlistment ended Oct 1966. I was a wheeled vehicle mechanic so worked in the motor pool. Also drove one of the 2 wreckers. Great place to serve. Tipped many beers in the Felsenkeller myself and still have an ashtray from there as a souvenir. I visited BK in 1998 and Des Gouttes had been abandoned by US Army by then and several German companies were using it. The gate was gone so I could walk all around. All the same buildings as when I was there. Rose Barracks was still US Army but no longer 8th Infantry. I was allowed in after showing my US passport and enjoyed walking around.

Enjoyed these pictures. We were there 62-65. My Dad was Sgt Maj William Lackey. We lived at 5633 A-1. I remember a lot of good times there as a young kid. If you are one of the MPs that dropped me off without reporting me to my Dad, thank you.

Terrific photos! Great memories of those days. During the same time (Feb 1966 - Dec 1967) I was in Service Battery, 4th Bn, 41st Artillery at Hardt Kaserne in Schwäbisch Gmünd. I had a camera, but thought taking photos was corny. Many years later I wish I would have shot dozens of films.

For quite a long time after I arrived in 65 there was a hole in the fence behind the motor pool which we used on a regular basis to avoid Louis and his fellow MP's at the front gate late at night. It was a sad day when that other entrance was found and shut down.

I had a large album from Germany but it wouldn't fit in my Duffel Bag so I had to put it on my foot locker for "hole baggage". I never received it. All I have is one undamaged picture taken in A Co. dayroom on inspection day and a few others around the Kaserne & 1 in Zaragossa, Spain after a 2 week Airborne training exercise but there is some damage to them. I had mailed them home and they receive very good treatment.

U know, i got a lot of good memorys about the old times.Spended a lot of time in the housing, had a few friends there, that was during the late 80s till the mid 90s. I was a kid in that time and loved the american way of life. The Airfield isnt anymore too, just the place on the Kuhberg is still like it was, with the Baseballfield, the BBQ area and stuff.

@hanothekidd Right, the Kuhberg is a place on top of the hill near the forest. I dont know if there even was a baseballfield and the BBQ Area 41 years ago. The Army did their manouvres there. In the town where the military hospital, two other bases and a small airfield where the some Hueys was based. I think BK wasnt the baddest place for US Soldiers, the most loved this small city and some stayed over here after they finished serving. Where did u go out in free time?
