Jacob Collier is a 21-year-old, London-born singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist of prodigious talent who has been hailed by the press as “The Future of Music” (as Jazzwise magazine put it), thanks to his sheer virtuosity, keen musical intelligence, and penchant for technological innovation that is borne out in every project he undertakes. His CZcams covers, in which he reimagines everything from Stevie Wonder’s “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing,” to George Gershwin’s “Fascinating Rhythm,” are a marvel of creativity, with split screens displaying multiple incarnations of Collier singing multi-part vocal harmonies. His live show is even more ambitious. He simulates a digital one-man band using custom equipment built by a Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduate student, including a “vocal harmonizer” that allows Collier to sing 12-part vocal harmonies and a series of looping stations for various instruments, plus a video element with 3D cameras that enable him to interact with multiple versions of his image projected onto a screen.
In the end, Collier hopes to inspire others to invest in their own imagination and to be living proof that permission is not needed from any gate-keepers to make art and release it into the world. Work hard and be passionate about your craft and your audience will come to you. “I hope from hearing this album, people take away that making something, whether it’s music or anything else - just for the love of exploring it and figuring it out - is a real life-affirming and sustaining idea.”

Its actually insanely gud
Monster talent. Makes me glad i've lived this long.
Jay Gamel probably the most succinct but heartwarming compliment ever :) and rightly so...
Jay Gamel naahhh shut up. nigga really? naaahhh
Im pretty sure he actually does know what pitch comes out of that duck
6:35 ...that moment when you play the last chord and you realise you played a note you don't like... and there's nothing you can do about it.... so you just stare lol
That is a highly complex chord and that note stand out above other just as crazy notes .. but jacob look knowing that was the 'hajanga' note of the 'hajanga' chord!
I have to tell you Jacob, this is my favorite version. Really tasty voicing . Just fantastic. Please come to Florida soon.
delicious and nutritions xD
When the duck headbutts the b7 you know you're bopping
i love his voice when at low pitch than high
He does have a warm baritone timbre which is really nice :)
I'm waiting patiently, and I'm sure one day I'll see #JacobCollier working in a featuring with #JamesBlake.
♡
Yeah, I've been thinking this since I first saw Jacob. Something similar in their vocal timbre, eh?
Yes!
pLeeeaaaseee
And how great that these nice girls and this TV station find it so easy to adapt Collier's music as great and will do a fantastic job in getting it into the young people's culture!!!
... and who's conduckting? ;-)
It's been 8 months and I want you to know that this comment is being appreciated greatly!
this pun will stay in purgatory
Jacob rocks the electric piano here, he never ceases to amaze me, thanks for posting!!
Pls someone make sure this dude is safe, happy and is reproducing :D
i mean I'm sure he's reproducing- also producing
this guy inspires me soooo much
Music!
and I'm here wondering how he's vocally able to phrase while comping like that...
It's some serious comping too!
I love it‼︎‼︎
Just have seen him in Tenerife a week ago, phenomenal!!!! A privilege!!
Amazing!
Great music. Great interview. Everybody’s great
Inspirational talent!!
So smooth and heartwarming
Unmistakably unique Jazz harmonies.
this song can bring tearz to your eyes.
He can make any instrument come alive in a new way, and it's so inspiring.
I prefer this bare approach to his "music room" live show style.
A brother not allowed an opinion anymore?
The live performances to an audience are even cooler
although I would love it if a good producer / mixer with quality sounds made something cool with him
The duck fell doing a sound of a duck falling hahahaahah
Duck : I wanna do a solo
bravoo...
Nice, guys!
That duck really wanted to get a note in there after hearing Jacob ask everyone to sing :P
that duck ahha
Conor Quinlan ya that duck...so...
2:38 shows a fake duck more talented than I am
Ты легенда.
Yay so early!
JACOB COLLIER Super men!!!
Asking Jacob what his favorite instrument is, feels almost offensive.. it's like asking a proud father of 50 children which one's his favorite :P
When the duck freakin fell and hit the keys XD
Al Jarreu, Yellow jackets, Weather Report and many many more. Those were pioneers of negative harmony. Today also hear for example Dirty loops :) Of course, Jacob has a good skils
you can clearly see Jacob's disturbed right after he lost his friend... rip duck xD
love you jacob!!
jacob and that rubber duck
favorite bromance
Somebody tag June fast plz
You don't often here key changes down, as at 2:36
Those harmonies :'(
Why is there tape on the novation?
Id take a wild guess and say hes covering it on purpose to not make free publicity for Novation. Maybe he had a contract but now its over or something like that and they dont sponsor him anymore
Where is this part of the Thames?
It was in the docklands

Where in London is this?

Constantly looking at the duck
Beautiful song and what an awful location to sing. Congrats Mr Collier!
Am I only one hearing them saying "F**k you" at 0:48? hah :D
you are the only one, she obviously says thankyou.
bastillekianh I know she says that lol, just because of both of them sayd something at the same time sounds like it :D
Jakob Purg it really doesn’t though...
wait, did he not take any other lessons than singing lessons?!
I don't Think he any leasons of anything
Yup, only singing lessons. He won a gold medal for the highest score on grade 8 singing exam too.
It made so uncomfortable to see how close they were standing next to him.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan...but the acrobatics get a bit tiring for my ears after awhile. Fewer notes, well-chosen would present his message better. It's one of the hardest things to do as a creative spirit...self-editing. I'm sure it will come as he continues on his journey..."wishing you the best JC".
