- Is it time for my family to move? We have began our search to find a more suitable house for our family, preferably in Valencia, Dumaguete. Rental prices have increased in the past year so we are curious to see how much it is going to cost us to get a bigger house.

Nice property and yes, it isn't cheap, but I think you are getting value for money. Don't let the dog stop you! Once he gets to know you he will probably stop barking, but there's another thing. What if you rent a house in a very quite neighbourhood. No dogs, no roosters, no karaoke. And one month later the house next to yours comes up for rent and the new tenants have two noisy dogs. Are you going to move? I don't think so! Get acquainted with the neighbours and see if you can become friends with the dog. That could make a hell of a difference!

My Canadian husband is not bothered by the dog barks, rooster and kareoke. He loves it instead and it’s not lonely. One time we came to our hotel in the afternoon and there is nobody singing kareoke, so lonesome for us :)
I thought the dog must have been on the property for rent, but then realized its next door. Definitely wouldn't work for me as it was loud even when in the bedroom. Just the reality though, and its good you were able to hear what it would be like vs moving in and learning it then. Thanks for sharing your adventures my friends
Yes, I noticed how loud it was in the house. I am sure that dog would bark at everything throughout the night. Not for me.

It could be made in to a nice home but needs a lot of decor and furniture but doggie would put me right of thank you for sharing
The dog and noise in the neighborhood put me off right away.
Actually it depends on you bec our place we have lots of dogs and sometimes they all barks altogether and were use to it

Gary a house that size with a huge backyard like that would run about $3,500 to $4,000 a month where I live in California. I live in a 70 sq meter one bedroom condo and rent is $1,950 a month. I guess it's time to move to Valencia in the Phil's and cut my monthly expenses! Between my rent, cable channels/internet and electric I'm paying $2,250. That doesn't even include food, transportation, insurance, cloths, eating out etc...

@@americanchristianinphilipp960 Yes, I'm very open to making the move. I'm not sure about having a relationship again as I've been very happy being single after a 22 year marriage and raising 2 boys. But I have seen a lot of expats including you that seem the be happy with a younger Filipina as a GF or spouse.

A. retired family man stays home and spends his time with his children.
There is no, running off to the office anymore.
You have plenty of time to dedicate to the young child you fathered.
You will have plenty of time for fun, travel and vacation, when you're children are older and go off to college.👍
I have never complained about having young children. They are the great blessing and provide me with so much joy and happiness. Everyone needs some alone time now and then and I get plenty of that too. We have a very happy well balanced life. Oh, and I am not retired. Thanks.

LIfe is full of uncertainties. My 2 girls and my wife are dual citizens. American-Filipina, so we moved here in 2017 after 7 years together in Texas. I am retired on SS. Life is anybody's guess. The news is all bad. You have faith and you are very young. At your age you may not be able to think about a place to live out your life. We bought a lot in 2011 while in the US and built on it after coming here in 2017. I have no desire to live elsewhere. That makes it possible to build what we need and it will be in the family from now on. Rent is not worth it long term, If you own, it cannot be easily sold. So if you can bring yourself to decide to build, it is a good place to do it here. Are your wife and girls dual citizens? If not, your family's future is here. That would be how you could determine whether to build or not.
Please 🙏 always remember that dogs are sentient beings, meaning they too have emotions like us, humans.
Please, please , please don’t cage your dog 🐕. Your pets are parts of your family.

Oh man, that place is huge. But that would be a no for me, just because of the dog. I have heard you can sometimes offer to "buy" the dog from some families. LOL

The dog issue is easy to take care of just wrap a valium in some pork and throw it to the Dog before you go to bed every night, That way the Dog and you guys get a good nights sleep. Now before a Filipino or Filipina reads this and get upset I'm only joking. It's called sarcasm here in the states. Anyway, at least it's not a rooster! My cousin had a Dog and rooster when I lived with her and her husband many years ago. The dog bark was fine BUT that darn rooster drove me nuts!
