[Treasure Planet AU] Silver/Sarah (ft. Jim) - Lift Me Up

This is easily the most ambitious AMV I've ever done from a shear editing perspective, and oh boy, it kicked my ass. I've been watching a lot of Non/Disney crossover videos lately, and just hunting for Treasure Planet AMVs in general, and either I can't find them, or not a single one has ever done a video either shipping Sarah and Silver or anything with Silver and a younger Jim. So even though characterization wise, it would not work from a canon standpoint, I wanted to manip visuals of Silver interacting with baby Jim and came up with an AU story to go along with it. Let me add that I had WAY more scene ideas I could have done or made that I just didn't have time in the song to do without losing focus.
Before I start, I'm using Jane (and one scene of Tarzan's mom) to represent a younger Sarah, baby Tarzan is obviously baby Jim, and I used Sinbad as a stand-in for Jim's dad because at the beginning of his movie, he's absolutely the kind of person that would run away from the responsibilities of parenthood if he found out he was about to have a kid.
Story:
It begins with Sarah boarding a ship with her infant son in a last ditch effort to try and find Jim's father. He was only her boyfriend at the time, and he ran away before Jim was even born, but her desperate hope is that maybe now that he exists in the outside world, his father might be more interested in having a role in his life because she doesn't want Jim growing up without a dad. Upon boarding the ship and speaking with the captain about her situation, she's sent down to the galley to forewarn the cook of any dietary restrictions or inclusions he should be aware of for the food prep of a nursing mother. When she goes down, she meets John Silver, whose mechanics freak her out a bit since she's never met a cyborg before. Morph takes a liking to her immediately though, and Sarah relays the necessary diet information.
Several days pass on the ship, and Silver notices Sarah drawing a picture of a man. He asks about him out of mild curiosity and learns the reason Sarah's on the ship in the first place. Silver's sympathetic and volunteers to help her out with Jim when she's feeling overwhelmed and give her a break from motherhood sometimes.
Over the next several weeks, they develop a pretty strong and close friendship, as has Silver to Jim who has been growing very fond of the baby the more time he's spent with him. It all comes to a head one evening when Silver's looking after Jim, and Sarah sees herself how attached and comfortable Jim is with the cyborg. She freaks out because she's afraid Jim's bonding with Silver will make him less likely to bond with his real father when they finally find him, and she believes Silver is crossing the line. Silver was already aware Sarah was searching for her baby's father, but as he's much more fond of both of them now, he's more irritated to hear she's still insisting on finding him. He points out that if the deadbeat ditched her and Jim before the boy was even born, he still wouldn't be his father even if they did find him, and she's just wasting her time which makes her mad, and they both lose their tempers and storm off.
While alone cooling off, both do some self-reflecting: Sarah on how her relationship with Jim's father ended, and Silver on the fact that he's way more attached to this woman and her son than he has any right to be. Sarah eventually seeks out Silver to apologize and admits he was right, she's simply been refusing to admit it and it hurt to hear it out loud because she knows it's true. Silver accepts the apology and encourages her that she's only trying to do right by Jim, and he knows she'll one day find someone worthy of being his dad and her partner.
After they reconcile, they continue to spend time together and grow closer, only now that Sarah no longer has her heart set on finding Jim's father, she starts noticing Silver in a more romantic light. Eventually, in a conversation where Sarah asks about his prosthetics, Silver reveals he was a pirate for a few years before the accident that stole half his limbs. Sarah's surprised, but it doesn't stop her from asking if he would like to come home and live with her and Jim permanently full-time. Silver accepts her weirdly-worded proposal and when the ship finally returns to Montressor spaceport, they leave it together to start their new life as a family. They raise Jim together with business at the Benbow Inn eventually doing well enough that they're able to renovate it. On the day of the grand reopening, Jim brings home more good news that he's been accepted into the Royal Interstellar Academy, making both parents proud.

This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever watched! You display such professional level editing skills and creative vision that not only were you able to successfully reuse pre-existing footage from totally different movies to fill in the visual gaps not provided by Treasure Planet itself in a way that was totally believable and flowed very naturally (GENIUS idea to have Jane fill in for young Sarah and Sinbad for Jim’s father by the way, excellent characterization, and dont even get me started about how PERFECT the part where Jim fiddling with the map orb overlayed with young Sarah doing the EXACT SAME THING *Chefs kiss* POETIC CINEMA!!!!!), but you were also able to tell a really interesting and compelling story that immediately captures the watchers attention, drawing them in with the familiar characters we all know and love but sending them on a completely different, yet no less exciting or heart wrenching, journey as these two former lost strangers find comfort, solace, love, and understanding in each other, growing closer and closer until theyre the happy little family they were always meant to be. It was an honor and a pleasure to have been the inspiration for this magnificent creation; I can’t wait to see what other fascinating creations you come up with next !!! -Foilfreak ;-)

I'm a huge Treasure Planet fan and watching this made me want to cry, especially at this scene around 2:45 but mostly 2:51- 2:57 I think that was my favorite part it really almost made me cry I need more John Silver videos my favorite character

This is really, really impressive, and I think the ambition you have paid off super well. Some of the shots flow together flawlessly, like the ones with young Jim and Silver. I also like the idea of using Jane and Tarzan's mom as Sarah stand-ins given the hair and all. Well done work
Aww, thank you so much! Love to see my hard work is appreciated, especially when it's for media I don't have a long history of editing for. I've seen some people use Sarah as an older Belle, I guess because of both the brown hair and ponytail, but it didn't look quite right to me for some reason, and Jane gave me more to work with.
@@JenamDrag0n Jane's clothing also feels more appropriate to work with because they're both 1800's esque.

Thank you! Tbh, I'm impressed I got it done so quickly too, and definitely most of that time was spent on making and animating the masks around the characters. I'm so proud of it though!
I for some reason think of this as a perfect prequel to a Dimitri x Jim story I read called Treasure Planet: Retold…..I’ve been reading it too much I think.
