There is a difference between a nation and a people. In my opinion only...I do believe we are a great nation. As a people we are woefully lacking. So we pray.

Britain has an British born Indian prime minister. American exceptionalism is not a Catholic doctrine.

It is astonishing that even an American congressman does not know that France has repeatedly had children of immigrants, for example from the Maghreb or the Antilles, in ministerial positions. And in Germany, too, a son of Turkish immigrants currently holds a ministerial office. Mr. Ro Khanna's information is obviously not entirely up to date ...

American exceptionalism isn’t particularly about whether or not you have non-native government figures, nor do I think that either that or American exceptionalism were being put forward as Catholic doctrine. Ro Khanna is not Catholic.

I'm not American, but "Greatest Nation"? Isn't that a little self-boasting? Great nation for sure, but "greatest"? There's a lot to unpack there.

Mr. Ro Khanna shows here (I don't want to say typical American) arrogance and ignorance about European conditions when he claims that neither in France nor in Germany children of immigrants could get higher government positions.

He’s right. The positive side of America today is often neglected. Of course, there are many causes: poor education, the stupidity of the media, the decline of western culture into secularism and relativism, the over-reliance on technology, all these factors are STRONG headwinds. But we’ll make it through, brothers and sisters. We are the light of this world, and we will make it through.

Used to be the light of the world. But only due to ignorance and willful blindness as to what the powerful were doing. Look around and see the present state of America. Pretty much a third world country, and pretty much broke financially.

I know why we Indians don't have good politicians anymore, 'cause their parents moved to 'Merica. 😂 At this point the only reason why I am tempted to (legally) immigrate to the States is for the sake of preserving my own integrity of ideology (I'm a Catholic) which is ironic because it is what inspires me to stay in my own country.

If being an asshole was a crime, none of us could walk the streets, we'd all be incarcerated. I think it is time to stop the, who's sin is the worst BS, and get on with it. (Not to mean we let loose rapists and cheats to roam the country.)

Aspirational story , the most important is aspirational. Become an active part of , something really desirable, non manipulative but achievable. Ransom Stoddard. Mr Smith Goes to Washington are some hollywood examples.

The American Dream is a modern invention by Hollywood and liberal academics. It never was the official cultural stance of the United States which (until recently) viewed itself as a nation of White Settlers.

Great Nation is a nation that has GOD as the source, the guide and the goal of all everything. But with the current issues we have at present such as the incident in St Patrick’s Cathedral, violence, abortion etc- it’s not greatness but ingratitude.
For GOD so loved the world that He gave his only SON, so that everyone who believes in HIM might not perish but might have eternal life (John 3:16). JESUS died on the cross because of our sin.
Bishop Barron please say something about that recent incident in St Patrick’s. Praying for grace and mercy for all of us.

    Galatians3.1
O senseless Galatians, who hath beWITCHED you that you should not obey the truth, before whos EYES Jesus Christ hath been set forth before you, crucified among you!!
A good christian mantra- 'Call the witchcraft out, and exhaust it out'
Call OUT witchcraft and feel the nails of crucifixion!
Witchcraft demonic activities are intensly everywhere.
Call out withcraft and experience the 'hate' of them!!
With Peter and Mary, the mother of God, and Mary Magdalene at the base of the lords cross, I pray this prayer:
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the COURAGE to change the things that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
I pray for Ecclesiasticus 24:24 Wisdom. The mother of fair love and of fear and of knowledge and of holy hope
In whom is all grace of the way and of truth. In whom is the hope of life and of virtue.
    Call out witchcraft......

    Islam is the true religion

    • @etienne_laforet

That's why so many Muslims prefer to live in Christian socialized countries ???
There is a strange incoherence in the thinking of many Muslims. They want to establish in Western countries the very religion from which they fled - the same religion that is largely responsible for their misery. With all the love, the deplorable condition of virtually all Islamic countries (with the exception of the oil sellers) is not credible testimony to the jihad religion.
It's hard to say it, but a world without Islam would obviously be a better world. And whether you like it or not, every Muslim who chooses to live in a Western country bears witness against his religion and for Western culture.
