Field Rat causes huge damage to the sugarcane crop especially in case of lodging. Rat prefers dry habitat for living. But farmers can repel from sugarcane field through repeated / frequent irrigations.
Rearing of Russian Cats at the Sugarcane farm is very effective biological tool for controlling Rats.

Zinc Phosphide baits may also be used to reduce the population of Rats.
Thimet (Swat Agro) at the rate of 15kg per acre does not only kills rats but Porcupine and Jekale also be repelled.
Hound (Kanzo AG) @ 3 pieces per acre is an excellent bait for killing of rats.
