    Holy cow! I can’t thank you enough for posting this video!!! I recently got the Pro 600 and I really thought something was the matter with it. It’s so much louder than my old Pro 500. I hate it! It’s not just the loudness, it’s the infernal metallic whirring, nearly grinding, noise. I refuse to wear earplugs just to use a mixer, so back it goes. Thanks again for the super video!

    to my knowledge the main difference in the professional versus the plus is the wider bowl compared to your original. they still sell the ones like yours with your bowl. It will be interesting to see how you like it with the wider bowl and how it works. thanks for the video

    Y'all are the best! I like the idea of being able to fit a smaller bowl on the mixer. I wonder if they will have one that does a 3, 5, and 7 quarter bowl? Occasionally, I need the 7 qt bowl size and I'm hesitant to buy another mixer. I suppose my next mixer will just be a 7 qt one, but the small size is so nice for all the reasons Amy said. If you have any thoughts or feedback for me I'd love to hear it. You two are the experts!

    I got my very first KA stand mixer back in April, almost like this one in the video but mine is a silver 6qt. I thought there was something wrong with it BC of how loud it was! Mine is as loud as your brand new blue one! Good to know its a normal sound! ❤ lol

    Take a look at the tops of all three. The pro 5 and the pro 6 don’t have the black screws on the casing. This means the lids can’t easily be removed for repair. I’m also wondering now if they have electronic speed control. Unlike the older white one. However, I did notice the pro 5 didn’t shake at all at the highest speed. The older white one shook the most..

    I saw these at Sams club, and almost bought one, but it only has a 5 qt bowl the same as an Artisan mixer.
    Next the motor is upgraded in the pro 5 plus, from the Artisan, but only by 100 watts
    In the end I thought that this is a "club store special" where they try to add some value, and make it look like a more expensive mixer, but sell it for less just to make people think they are getting a deal.

Mainly because of size as it will have to sit on my counter all the time. I’ve watched all of your test videos as well as a few from different you tubers. I won’t be making huge batches of anything. Please advise me, Amy!

    • @Kris-ej4ik
      @Kris-ej4ik Před 4 lety

      Felicia Goodbay I just got the artisan 5 quart and I love it! The pro bowl lifts don’t have that many ads on features when it comes to attachments, different bowls, the ice cream maker bowl, etc. I absolutely don’t regret my choice. You get a mixer that is too big for your needs and you’ll have to double up on batches just for it to work correctly.
      For example- I make vegan macarons. I think whipping 75 grams of aquafaba in a huge 6 quart bowl would not be ideal. I watched a vid on CZcams where that was one mans biggest regret w getting the pro bowl lift variation.
      Also, the pro is too high. Won’t fit on a counter well as you can’t slide it back against the counter because it’ll hit cabinets above.

    It sounds like your pro 5 and pro 600 paddles are scraping the bowl. You might want to adjust the bowl height down a smidge on those two. (Instructions to do so are in the manual). When the mixer is on, the paddle should just be able to nudge a dime around the bottom of the bowls. (Called the dime test for stand mixers)

  • @callalily4052
    @callalily4052 Před 4 lety +2

    Well, the Pro 5+ does sound like the Pro 600 and it's very different from the regular 5 quart lift. It's got to be the difference in wattage. It's a big jump from 350 to 525 or 575 or whatever it is.
    I love that blue color and I think as time goes on (unless it you returned it) you'll like it more.
    The sound is the sound. I'm so used to my Pro 600 now that I don't even hear it.
    I love the little 3 qt bowl and whip - that's a good "add in" feature with that mixer package. But of course, it's not going to fit in any *other* bowl because all the bowls are completely different shapes! This is low on the convenience scale but I guess it keeps us buying attachments. ;-P

    • @XIIxMysticxIIX
      @XIIxMysticxIIX Před rokem

      A couple years late but the combiwhip is supposed to fit select 5-7 quart models. It has 4 holes (2 on each side of the bowl) to accommodate diff widths. It also has two tabs at the back (i believe) to also fit the diff machine models.
      Now the real issue is figuring out if it fits my 6quart model, it supposedly fits the costco ones, but i bought mine used so i gotta investigate further or risk it!
      Secondly, i wonder how well the whisk works. I dunno who thot combining the paddle and whisk was a good idea. If your buying it to make smaller batches u probably want it to whip or beat JUST RIGHT, otherwise id just buy a handmixer or smaller model…

    Very interesting, Amy. I don't like the sound of the new blue mixer. I guess I'm just used to my old K5 (which sounds like the white middle mixer). If they can use DC motors for the 7 quart and Commercial KAs, why can't they use those for the blue line, too? Thanks!!

    • @lorieann8522
      @lorieann8522 Před 4 lety +1

      Power. DC motors are way more powerful than the watt motors

    • @smsstuart
      @smsstuart Před 4 lety +3

      It all boils down to cost vs. [perceived] value - and what the public is willing to pay. (The DC motors cost more $$'s).
      A constant complaint is the need to supply coated aluminum attachments enabling dishwasher clean-up - and some models come with burnished [uncoated] aluminum attachments - requiring hand washing. KitchenAid offers all-stainless steel attachments for their 4-½ & 5-quart mixers, and also for their 7 & 8-quart mixers - but for an additional cost: About $79.00 for the 4-½ & 5-quart sizes; and about $63.00 for the 7 & 8-quart sizes (the whip attachment is already 100% stainless steel). More-seriously minded home chef's may opt for the additional expense; but that added cost right-out-of-the-gate would stop countless sales dead in their tracks.

    Very interesting comparison. (Who'd a thunk KitchenAid could surpass even themselves by creating a motor/transmission design for the [new] Professional 5+ that's even louder than that of the Professional 6-?) I'd really be curious to see the differences between all the bowls - as it appears the bowl/support arms for the original Professional 5 is narrower than on both the [new] Professional 5+ & the Professional 6. Are any of the bowls interchangeable-? (I know the 6, 7 & 8 quart bowls are all interchangeable - so long as their matching attachments are used). But as I don't own any 5-quart bowl lift style KA mixers anymore, I can't answer that one.

    • @dave6386
      @dave6386 Před 3 lety +1

      Replying to myself here for the benefit of others wondering the same thing: I've just seen the double holes on each side of the Ice Cream Attachment. Meaning it will absolutely work on every Kitchenaid stand mixer apart from the Mini.
      So I suppose the most annoying thing is that the stainless steel bowls themselves cannot be used between modern bowl-lift models and the old Pro 500 with the narrower bowl compared to today's wider bowl-lift bowls. I think I have this all straightened out now. Phew... Can anyone confirm my thoughts on all this?

      @@CShannon1991 Yes, exactly. Mine is the Imperial Grey "ProLine" model from 1989, apparently built using the Hobart specs. I've been very happy with it. KA needs to put back the spring and washer on the shafts for the whip and paddle. Maybe that will help to prevent the new machines from clanking and making a noise. If that spring was used for countless years, then why suddenly remove it?

    • @CShannon1991
