I find it so funny that we can be one hundred percent understanding of someone who has depression or anxiety, but not mental illnesses that make people lash out. To my understanding, bipolar disorder makes you codependent, insecure, and EMOTIONAL. Your feelings swing left and right, if it’s hard for you to deal with, imagine how the person with the disease feels. And when Josie blamed her for not taking her medication I got mad. No one likes feeling numb, or like a zombie, and that’s mostly what medication does I assume. Feeling nothing at all is so much worse than feeling everything. People seriously need to be more understanding of her. Geez
do you know how someone can figure out if the person has bipolar disorder?
I’ve never heard of bipolar disorder making you codependent bipolar is having manic and depression episodes which you would be insecure about but I’m not sure ( not a psychologist) that it’s directly connected also never heard it being described as a disorder that makes you “lash out” people do get angry in episodes of mania though so I imagine that’s what that was showing. I do understand how Josie got upset that Lizzie wasn’t taking her meds because meds do make you feel pretty shit but you can be dangerous without them and it’s your responsibility to not put people around in any sort of danger it also puts a lot of strain on another family member if you do that I’ve seen it I really want surprised when Josie snapped under pressure I’ve seen people say to not forget Lizze is a teenager but you can’t forget Josie is one too.

@@gingerninja4237 Well, perhaps bipolair doesn't immediatly come with codependency, but people with mental illnesses do tend to have codependency issues. Sometimes, they are unfit to take care of themselves and need a caretaker. If this caretaker is a relative or someone else they have a long-term relationship outside of the caretaker role, then it creates a bond that can easily turn into co-dependency. Josie was Lizzie's caretaker because Alaric was too busy running the scchool to be Lizzie's, and because they already are twins, this is the perfect recipe to create co-dependency.
Lizzie is actually my favorite character bc she isn't perfect. She has issues, and isn't afraid to admit it. She's also a badass with an attitude.

Lizzie Saltzman deserves the world! She's been called selfish but in truth she's just a teenager going though all the ups and downs having to prove to everyone she's not just the "bitchy" twin. She's just someone who wants to be loved but with Caroline gone most of the time, Alaric having to look over all the kids, and Josie trying to figure out who she is it's not easy for her to get that love.
With her life being so bad and how jealous of Hope she is she should do a spell and switch with Hope's life then she would know what It feels like to have both her parents out of her life 4 a long time -she has Alaric n Caroline and she got to see and feel Josette when she came back..Hope can not
I love this girl. She's an amazingly complex human being and I don't get how people can hate her. Except, ableism runs strong in this world.

Honestly, the reason I dislike Penelope is the fact that because Josie doesn't stand up for herself against Lizzie, Penelope is going to do it for her by making Lizzie's life hell. Does she even realize how cruel that is? To ruin someone's life because her crush is too weak to stand up for herself.

She made Josie stand up for herself by being a bitch to her....but whatever she did to Lizzie....that was out of pure hate....it was just plain cruel....especially when she called Lizzie a black hole of love, and time, and energy....that was actually really painful

I hate how everyone seems to forget that these are all teenagers and that Lizzie is a bipolar teenager with magical powers that are tied to her emotions. Penelope, at 16/17 years old has no right to try and sabotage the one support system Lizzie has in Josie- especially when Caroline is gone and Alaric is constantly running off with Hope and keeping secrets from her. I never understood how Penelope came to feel like she knew what was best for Josie (who is more than capable of standing up for herself) or how she came to the conclusion that antagonizing her emotionally vulnerable and fragile bipolar sister was what was best. And, yet, somehow Posie is somehow the "best relationship".

The reason lizzie was narcissistic in season one was because josie emotionally manipulated her, was fully aware it was her fault, let her get worse without saying anything, and after all that, did not apologize when caught. On that basis alone, I have to agree.

Josie seems darker underneath than Lizzie. You can see all of Lizzie...tantrums and all. Josie represses all her emotions and hides her resentment. This adds fuel to her darker side which comes out sometimes as we see in season 2.

Lizzie grew on me. I really liked the genie episode cause it really showed how good she is. And I get that she doesn't want to take her medication and stuff cause some of that stuff makes people a shell of themselves.
Actually, I'm very scared for Lizzie. Aurora de Martel's bipolar disorder led her to suicide and it just got worse with vampirism. Tristan spend eternity trying to help her, he gave her all of his love, but nothing ever helped her and she ended up under a sleeping curse forever. I don't want Lizzie and Josie to become Aurora and Tristan. That's just too sad.

But recall Aurora was somewhere secluded for a peace of mind. Those kind of things probably happened to her all the time being left somewhere in “order to heal”. It can’t help much to be away from those you love. How many friends do we see Aurora really have? Lizzie has a huge support group and goes a school that is meant to help supernaturals, I have hope for her.

I really love Lizzie. Watching Legacies made me think, finally a teen show with mental illnesses done right! I have high functioning Autism myself (meaning without intellectual disability) and even though we have different disorders, I could actually relate to certain Lizzie scenes myself.
Also, to anyone commenting Autism isn't a mentall illness, this is untrue. It is, that's just something Karens have made up so they could try to give their kid a pass from the stigma, which I find absolutely disgusting behavior.
I mean autism isn't scientifically speaking a "mental illness", it's a neurological disability which, though very similar to some extent, is not the same thing. It's not disgusting to say so as long as you come up with valid arguments lmao. And saying so doesn't invalidate what you're going through you're just missing people's point
I just realised a big plot hole in Legacies. Remember in S7 of TVD the Heretics drew all of the humans out of Mystic Falls. There was only Wolfs, Witches and vampires. Plus the Heretics. And That was about 16 years ago, Rafeal and Landon are about 17/18. And they grew up in an oprahange in Mystic Falls that did not exist in TVD. Sooooo that's a masive loophole

Okay someone explain to me how Lizzie is one of the most popular girls in school and powerful witches is constantly involved in school events (monsters and usually planning like miss mystic falls and the talent show)
People listen to her like the other witches at school
She even had a huge birthday bash
But then sometimes Lizzie will be like people hate me I don’t have friends
And that everyone thinks she’s a huge freak but we never see like anyone “bully” her or say anything
Another example in the very first episode
Josie says all the guys go for Lizzie or they usually do
But then Lizzie completely fails to flirt with Raphael
Lizzie has borderline personality disorder (includes mood swings), but it is shown that a good number of students don't like her at all. Some of the people attended the dance were friends with josie (who didn't show up), and the rest just saw it as an opportunity to have fun
We see Penelope bully Lizzie
As someone who knows, mental illness is not an excuse to put your loved ones through pain. This is why I had an issue with Lizzie. As Josie said herself, Lizzie can't help her illness, but she can choose to take her medication. Honestly, it's Alaric's fault in the end. He needs to care more for his daughters health then other children. He needs to make sure she takes her medication and be there for her when she needs him. His daughters need to be more of a priority.

Victor Ajah but it was never Penelopes place to say anything to Lizzie about it... and that isn’t what made Lizzie better, the Jini (or however you spell that) and the wishes is what set Lizzie off onto her trip to recovery, not Penelopes inappropriate interference. Everything Penelope said to Josie was great, but she should never have started attacking Lizzie like that. It was wrong, and it really didn’t do much to help. Lizzie had to figure it out herself, and when she did that’s when she started to change.
And Josie IS dependent on Lizzie, she has always depended on the fact that she’d always have someone that needed her and if she didn’t depend on that feeling she would of told her off years ago. But Josie always falls back onto the fact that Lizzie is SO awful and whatever, but never acknowledges the fact that she told everyone that Lizzie was bipolar, which was a sucky move. So you can’t really say that Josie was always trying to “help” her sister along. She hid the bad things she did behind Lizzie and used her to make herself feel better.
And you’re right on the fact that Josie called her off and opens Lizzies eyes like she needed to, but it was complete BS when Penelope did it. Totally unnecessary. What Penelope did was wrong.

The Jinni had nothing to do with it. Like at all. Lizzie very very slowly started to change after this confrontation. It's so clear in the episodes. The Jinni's purpose in Liz's development was to show her how "crazy' she becomes in the future/alternate realities. The realities were dependent on Hope's presence or lac thereof. Lizzie's personality and poor behavior remained unscathed. So it was more than appropriate for Penelope to do what she did. You are acting like everything she said was untrue.
Keep in mind that Lizzie was a bully to the other students, so you excuse her behavior; but when Penelope gives her some brutal honesty, it's wrong? That's bs and a double standard.
Lizzie didn't figure ANYTHING out herself. Hope, Josie, and Penelope shoved it in her face (as they should). First it was the brutal honesty, then Josie's pop off, then the ass whooping Lizzie got in the penultimate episode on last season. Only this season did Lizzie actual start making an effort,
Josie is not dependent. She just anticipates that Lizzie needs something. And she always does. Not dependency, but rather routine. And she felt needed by Penelope and her other friends. Everyone likes feeling needed. She could live without that feeling. But I think she wanted to spare her sister's feelings.
Josie did NOT tell everyone that Lizzie is bipolar (which she is). Josie made up a rumor that only touched Lizzie's ears. Lizzie assumed everyone knew. No one else besides her and Josie knew of said rumor. The other kids hate Lizzie because of how she bullied them, attacked them, demeaned them, was selfish, etc. Long before the "rumor' incident started. But it was a sucky move, I agree. But in her defense, Josie thought Lizzie was gonna "steal" Hope from her, like she did everything else in their childhood. As wrong as the move was, i see where she was coming from.
Well, she never hid the fire behind Lizzie. She just let everyone assume Hope did the fire to herself. Sucky move. But most of the time, Josie is being a good sister. And she is a good person. She doesn't hide behind Lizzie to make herself feel better. It could be eating away at her day by day for all we know.
Also, I believe Penelope's actions were warranted. Lizzie repeatedly tells everyone at school that Penelope is satan. While some thing she did could warrant that name, it still is no excuse. So lizzie isn't that innocent. Penny was right here and in the right place. Lizzie just needs to learn from the info. And it was very necessary for Liz's character development.

I didn’t exactly like Penelope park, she in a way is a self-absorber ever since she broke up with Josie because of Lizzie, like has she never heard of “ family comes before relationships” yes Lizzie can be difficult, but in the end of the day we all have issues and despite all that she has a big heart, I mean she has her moments of despair but she also can be really smart all the time, and overall I feel like hope in a way is very arrogant as well, she likes to brag about how she’s the only tribrid, like yes we get it, and it wasn’t until Lizzie remembered her that she knew exactly the type of person Lizzie was and didn’t end up judging her, or doubting her.

Well being bipolar can be caused by abuse in this case the mental abuse she receives for being bipolar from characters like Dana and Penelope. Also stress which she's constantly putting on herself to prove to everyone she worth it. This is mainly just her lows I believe and typical teenagers don't well have a crazy biological uncle who tried to kill her and her sister in a womb that's basically the main factor to why she's bipolar.
And even if she is that doesn’t mean she can be a brat and blame it on mental illness

This is offensive. Maybe some of these scenes display some of the actions Lizzie made due to her bipolar but none of these are WHY she’s bipolar. Bipolar is due to surges and deficits in noradrenaline, serotonin and dopamine.

O ciúmes que a Lizzie sente da Hope com o Alaric é totalmente compreensível. Alaric claramente tratava Hope diferente, levando ela pra missões, dando treinamento separado pra ela e tudo mais. Até eu fiquei incomodada com isso. No primeiro episódio o Alaric disse que se a Lizzie fizesse amizade com Hope ele daria treinamento em grupo, mas isso é uma besteira. Ele podia muito bem pegar a Josie e a Lizzie e dar treinamento separado para cada uma. Assim ele passaria mais tempo com as filhas e ajudaria nos problemas que cada uma tem separadamente.
