I love it because of the irony. The writers definitely knew what they were doing.
Batman and Bruce Wayne are never associated with one another because they act so differently, but Becky and WordGirl literally have the same mannerisms and idiosyncrasies. She doesn't even cover her face lmaoo
What is Word Girl's disguise? That helmet that goes around her head? That's a disguise? Her entire face is exposed, she doesn't wear a mask or anything, not even those masks that go around your eyes as Kid Math has, but hey at least he has a better disguise. Sure, Superman doesn't wear a mask, but at least he has glasses as Clark Kent. Ironically, Huggy was the one who tried to disguise himself as Bob, even though he's a monkey, and they all kind of look alike to us.
Yeah it's kinda like Danny phantom his hair and eye color change and people can't tell their the same it just one of those things where you just have to suspend your disbelief for a cartoon you like.

There were many characters who kind of found out similar to Tobey but they didn't stay knowing. Like you said, he was tricked into thinking he was wrong. As far as I know when these characters in this video found out, they kept the knowledge for the remainder of the series (in Violet's case that was for like one more episode lmaoo)

@@itsmefm I've noticed that in most situations where she's almost found out she still has quite a bit of plausible deniability and there's usually a simple easy explanation to cover for her, but then she starts speaking to cover up and only makes it like 10 times worse lol.

@@Gamebuilder2000 I mean, he also canonically has a huge crush on her and we see in the episode where he collabs with Two Brains that he doesn't want to hurt her. I'm pretty sure there's a point where he says does what he does to try and impress her. So it's pretty hard to imagine he'd use that knowledge against her, if anything he'd just be nicer to her as Becky. He knows telling the other villains would put her, her friends, and her family in danger, as well as himself if he refused to help or tried to protect her. He's too smart and cares about her too much to do something like that.
Sad her family still don't know. I mean first it was a trap and second they just ignored her, I want a family unit hero where the family now's and helps out to cover from time to time, it'd be nice. Bonus if no one in the family is left out or dead. Even if passively. Come on PBS, I know you can do better, I also wanna a crossover with Word Girl and Cyber Chase. That be sick

Why do I get more laughs out of an educational show about words made for kids than an actual comedy?
Honestly its due to the writers actually caring about their work. Compared to other kids shows and even shows for adults, WG has superb writing

I love these reveals because serious drama and continuity in PBS kids shows is always avoided in favor of being educational and kid-friendly. This show and Cyberchase were the exception and they were the best ones.
And don’t forget the early seasons of Arthur and Wild Kratts (Sort of).
And surprisingly, Wordgirl is one of the few PBS kids shows to have a TV-Y7 rating.

Ok Imma just say this, I never understood why people close to the hero get pissed off when they found out that their friend family or partner is the superhero. Like I get it they kept it a secret from them and it’s all like “oh you couldn’t trust me and blah blah blah” but like the whole point of a secret identity is to protect themselves and anyone close to them.
(Edit) To add more to this (I’m not saying this is always the case but) once they know they’re gonna wanna help or nag you about being in a dangerous situation which can hinder the hero.
Agreed; in fact, that last point you brought up is precisely one of the biggest reasons why they keep it a secret in the first place, that part pisses me off.
You gotta good point.
But there are times where the hero not telling their friends or family their secret can create problems. Like in Miraculous Ladybug, the fact that the MC Mari doesn't know Chat Noir's secret leads her to get upset at him often because Chat Noir's identity as the model Adrien has him always going to conferences or photo shoots. If Mari knew Chat was really Adrien, it would save a lot of headache and stress.
WordGirl doesn't have many situations like that but the sentiment is still there. If Becky told her family and friends who she was, she could avoid hurting their feelings if and when she needs to go and fight crime.
But again, you have a good point, and I appreciate your perspective!

I was a bit too old to be the target audience when wordgirl came out but my sister was at the right age. This series was honestly surprisingly funny for a kids show. Peg+Cat was also funny but mainly for the silly overreactions of Peg. They really put effort into WordGirl and you really just gotta respect the team for that. Just sad they shut down after the final episode.

Dr. Twobrains figures it out and reveals it to her entire family (and his henchmen) for one episode, but they all lose their memory at the end of it so it's only for a brief amount of time
At least they're smarter than the characters in Miraculous Ladybug.

I recently been binge watching wordgirl episodes and I past the bunny button episode where Scoops found out about her identity but then I got confused cuz a few episodes later it's like scoops completely forgot that Becky was wordgirl and she kept making excuses to sneak away. He didn't even bring it up, that just seemed really off to me.
It's possible episodes were aired out of production order. For example, The Learnerer can be seen in The Rise Of Miss Power, which came out a month before his official debut episode.
Counting the narrator and Huggy (who already knew since the series started), that's nine people who know Becky is WordGirl.
Yeah I didn't count those two, the Narrator knows everything qbout everyone and Huggy was there before Becky became Wordgirl (Huggy was really the main reason why Becky became Wordgirl because without him, they'd have still been on Lexicon).

Something funny I saw posted in the comments of a different video, which was possibly deleted. Violet's cat knows Becky is Wordgirl, right? Well, in the episode Gift Pony, Becky was fighting The Whammer, and was late for a tea party with Violet. When she got to the party, the cat was giving her a dirty look. As this other person said, it was like the cat knew what was up, and was saying to Becky, "Just tell her the truth. She should know."

No I didn't count that time. I only counted times when the people found out and kept their memories. So characters like Dr. Two Brains and Tobey don't count unfortunately.

Usually in 1×17 Two-Brains Forgets, Dr Two Brains, his henchman, TJ, Mr and Mrs Botsford also find that Becky is Wordgirl. But the machine erase their memories from the past minutes before it happens.
I have a feeling that Becky's mom, Sally Botsford, still knows her daughter is Wordgirl. There's proof in some episodes.
