The T90 is a good tank. It's good to upgrade tracks and sprockets for metal. If you like very heavy off-road driving, I recommend reinforcing the lower hull in the front end specially. The tank is not waterproof, but it can be done, there is other you-tubers that have videos on that.
Nice work on the paint job , take those tracks off & soak them in antique fluid ( available from most hardware stores), this will make them like a dark grey colour , then as you run it back over the sand the contact points will wear back to metal like the real vehicle
@John Gabriel Better gearboxes with ballbarings and then I make sure that drive wheels is installed correctly and grabs them chain good. I think if I get metal road wheels and the big outer ballbarings the track will never come out.
I am not an experienced R/C modeler, trying to do some 'video research' to learn about the hobby. Quick question: Is there any risk to the model's sensitive mechanical parts when running in sand? I have tried running cheaper toy rc vehicles in sand before and if the sand gets inside, the vehicle is finished. Did you have to add some sort of 'desert combat' upgrade to protect the tank's mechanisms?
you can get much more high end Leo tank (Tamiya and Torro) but it depends on what you like and how much money you wanna spent. The t90 requires some upgrades, but is also very nice tank.
You may want to remove one piece from each thread to tighten them, because the treads stretch as the tank breaks in, especially with all metal treads. That will improve tension of the treads over the supporting wheels. You can also separate the gearboxes with compartment walls using hot glue gun, to seal them. Are the gearboxes aluminum or steel gears?
VDM_IAD thank you so much for the advice👍 in this video i actually just removed on piece of track, which mad them incredible tight, how ever in my case it didn't help one bit, the tracks still came of. Plus i didn't think it looked good, so i put it back on. Im not sure how separating the gearboxes will help, i mean maybe if you made them totally inclosed less dirt will get in for sure. But maybe i didn't understand you correctly☺ The gearboxes has alu gears and no ball bearings, so I think i will properly upgrade those for better performance and durability😊 I have 390 motors and running on 2s lipo.👍
Speaking of the tracks coming off, it might be the front wheels or back wheels became crooked with their axles, so they may cause the problem, because the lower tank body is plastic so there could be some warp. In my Heng Long tiger tank, all the plastic suspension arms warped over time, causing the wheels to jam against the tracks. I think these tanks aren’t really meant to run in the sand and dirt as it heavily impacts their longevity, but ultimately, the most fun is outside)). Hey Speedy, would you be able to make an HD video at some point on how the tracks, wheels and sleeves in the gearboxes are wearing out, after running it outside? Thanks!
VDM_IAD yes i think you are right about the tracks, that is also my own conclusion. I hope it can get better if I buy the gearboxes with ball bearings. Im sure it will make the driveshafts less wobbly. And yes the plastic chassis is weak. I also took it over some big rocks and that i can not recommend! I will make more videos with this tank 😊👍
Can't remember, but think so at that time. Now it has upgrade motor gearboxes. Remember when you watch the video I adjust the video speed, so the performance may look a bit better in video then real life. Thx for watching
In that film its still stock gearbox with zink alloy gears. Yes the tracks come of a lot, but they does that on every surface I think. I'm still working on that problem. I'm thinking maybe metal wheels and suspension will help to keep the tracks in place. Thanks for watching 😊👍
up to now, my tanks are Heng Long, Mato and Hybrid Heng Long and Mato. None of them can 100% avoid tracks falling off. especially on sand, when small sand and stone come into the sprockets or idlers, it make them jump up and fall off easily.
@@SteelBird1000 i recently purchased a taigen tiger 1. The tracks are fantastic! They haven't come off once and I doubt they will. Highly recommended 😊
I have heard people praying for the quality of Taigen tanks but they aren't available to me because too far. Sand (and small stone) is the most harsh terrain for RC tanks. if you want to test, do it on sand. if it can overcome sand, it will go on any terrain. Make a video of your Taigen Tiger 1, and mine are on my channel. you can go there to see them
@@SteelBird1000 I have the Henglong Panzer IV and the tracks never come off no matter how hard I run it on grass, mud ect. The T 90 sheds its track on any surface and only while traveling forward.
David Dunn yes it would, but i would recommend inspect the gearboxes if the need cleaning for sand after each run, but thats a easy job😊 Thanks for watching👍
Nice tank! How did it handle all this sand? Did it make the treads and sprockets to wear out quickly? Any issues in general, esp. with the gearboxes? I plan get the same t-90, trying to decide between the plastic and the upgraded versions. Thanks!
Thanks for watching! I dont think the sand is to much of a problem, you may wanna clean the gearboxes. Only problem i have with it is i need to figure out how I can make the tracks stay on better. All in all it works ok!
I would love to have a nice box, but I use an IKEA bag🙂 The nice thing is that all the fragile things are on the top of the model,so its okay I carry in a bag I think. Thx for watching
You can find various online stores from EU or Asia if you search it. I believe I got this ones from a seller on Ebay (tracks and sprockets) I highly recommend the Mato version tracks, since this have more scale details to the tracks them self's. 👌 Thanks for watching 😊👍
Not hard to change the tracks. On this model I found that it's easier to remove the the drive wheel and remove/install the track in that process (with out having to disassemble the track). Hope it helps.
Leo Lawson Thanks for comment👍 im interrested to know, what about metal tracks look less realistic then plastic? (I left them unpainted but I might paint them in future)

I just ordered this same upgraded tank.
What do you mean by reinforcing the lower hull
Is it too flimsy for the metal tracks?
@@whodey59 u can buy a reinforcement brace kit if u have $. Or u can do it ur self like I did w epoxy.

love to watch them on the sand , they look so real !
Super satisfying to see the tracks kick the sand around like a real tank, loved the video 👌

that's a great tip , stop em looking too shiny !
Great video! These big RC tanks look so real. I got a Tiger just this week. Now I have to take it out on the beach.

Apart from the inevitable battery drain, metal tracks are 100% worthit.

Thumbs up! Awesome work!

Any problems throwing tracks? I tightened up the tracks and it still keeps jumping up on the sprockets.
Yes I have the same problem. I think meaby to upgrade with bearings for for the driveshafts may help. I haven't tried It yet. Thanks for watching 😊
