DEAR RAPPERS DESCRIPTION
Tom and Nova both were completely broke the night that he wrote this song. They were facing eviction from their apartment that was infested with mice and roaches and also had no electricity because they couldn’t pay the bill. Tom sat out on the front stoop and lit his last half cigarette and typed these lyrics into his phone. He said it was like an Epiphany struck him after he finished writing it and that he got really excited and ran in the house and told Nova that he had just written the one that was going to change everything! They recorded the video that night after Tom recorded the vocals! The reason the video was so simplistic is because they only had one light which was hooked up to an extension cord plugged in to a neighbors house along with their fridge! Nova covered the bulb with red wax paper to give it the red tint! Tom said he borrowed a total of $1000 from five different people to pay for advertising of the video on Facebook and CZcams and it went viral in three days!! And the rest is history! No shade at Eminem from Tom. He respects Em and he’s done a tribute song to him, he also did his own “the way I am” (which is great btw). He respects the OGs that influenced him to want to be a rapper. This is more a general “I’m over it” about the same drugs, sex and partying songs, we have more important things to focus on. Tom wanted to make his focus on helping people make it out of the “non-important” material. He felt like there was so many more important issues that rap used to talk about but they put down the real messages now for songs about nothing positive. Mainstream artists HATED this, even though they know it’s true. Him saying the subject matter isn’t there in rap anymore and rappers went insane on him even though they couldn’t pick one of their songs that wasn’t about what he said in the song. They didn’t like that mirror he put on them. Love Tom for that and not being scared to say it.

This is what Tom and Nova could do in the beginning on a shoestring budget and no electricity. 😍 Tom tells the story often, how he and Nova had to choose to pay either the rent or buy groceries each month because they couldn't do both. Their power was shut off so often he had an extension cord ready to plug into the neighbors garage for the fridge so their food didn't spoil. There were rats in the walls and roaches in the cabinets where they lived, the situation was grim when he wrote this. One day he was listening to a successful rapper complain about his life (it wasn't Eminem) and he got angry. Tom took his last 1/2 cigarette out to the front steps to smoke and he doesn't even remember writing the words to this song. They were just there 15 minutes later when the cigarette was finished, like the words were downloaded to his brain. He ran into the house telling Nova he had just written the song that was going to change their lives. Nova set up to shoot the video while Tom recorded it. He then borrowed $1100 from family and friends to put on a Facebook ad. A couple days later it had gone viral with over a million views and the rest is history.

HOG stands for hangovergang. Hangover gang initially is what Tom called his close circle of friends that he would go out and party with. He said that the term stood for having the best time of your life. Over time when he started music he gave that name to his Fanbase. And of course he was drinking and on drugs at that time however, as he became sober, the term “hangovergang” still means having the best time of your life, but without drugs or alcohol!

This was directed at all current rappers and the messages they are promoting to our youth today. Written when he was at his lowest and Nova shot the video. He borrowed money from his friend to buy an ad for the video. It took off and went viral. This was only 6 years ago. Amazing what God can do in someone's life. Fast forward to God Mode. His most recent response to all the hate and criticism he has received lately. Tom is also one of the only people I know that wrote a song specifically for his fans. My Fans is incredible. Nova couldn't leave people out of the video so she included all clips that were sent in. A must see. #HOG

And actually he wasn't taking a shot at Em. Once you get to his "Dear Slim" track you'll see what and influence and insperation Marshall was to Tom. @@lannctt I have already addressed this many times. I work a job full time, stream for 8 hours everyday and also juggle being an athlete/going to the gym (I barely get 5 hours of sleep a night). I have almost reached ends of depression because I have felt so bad that I'm never able to reply to comment cause there are too many. Please, If you are unable to understand that then I'm clearly not a creator that you should be watching, sorry that I can't do everything, sorry for being human.
