I moved to Mesquite 2 years ago I’m on the border to Garland and Sunnyvale, and it’s very nice and beautiful on this side, this part of the city is extremely clean and quiet. I recommend this part of Mesquite, homes on this side are in the 350k

Devils Bowl is gone. Solterra and Ridge Ranch not to mention Iron Horse near the Rodeo is adding close to 15k houses. Housing prices for Ranches like mine is at 325k

It's sad to hear they have uniform dress codes now. Shirts have to be tucked in. glad I graduated in the 90s
Not everybody is rich enough to live in West Plano or Friscaux. Mesquite is what it has always been, a blue collar suburb like Garland.
The negative comments have me a bit confused. I visited here from NYC and found some areas of mesquite to be quite beautiful with very nice homes and a breath of fresh air away from the big city. Please explain why you feel this town is not a good place to move to. Thanks.
Mesquite was a real nice place to live but has been going downhill for about 15 years now. Don't let what's on the surface fool you. I've been here for 37 years now.

The construction near the Oates / 635 exit, and the bridge across 30 / Gus Thomasson (wont be complete til next Jun) makes getting around those parts challenging.
Alot of the main streets around Mesquite are rough to drive on and really need to being repaved.
Same with many of the parking lots - The WalMart on 80 / Beltline is a super Walmart but the parking lot is rough, same for the Albertsons on Motley / Town East Blvd, and the Kroger on Gus Thomasson / Town East.
The neighborhoods around Oates / Gus Thomasson lost the Minyards grocery store and a parts store replaced it. so its a farther drive to get groceries.
And the entire MISD has a uniform dress code. Khakis with polo shirts tucked in, no logos on shirts, jackets have to remain in your lockers.
Maybe some parents like it, but I feel for the kids. Im glad I was able to wear my rock tshirts and jeans when I was in school.
It is also sad seeing the old Toys R Us being an Ollie's Outlet Store, and the Lubys turned into a meat market but what can ya do.

The construction that forest lane has on 635 7 years ago is now in mesquite and on its way to former and Terrell. So if you don’t like traffic take the old highway MILITARY. It goes all the way from mesquite to downtown, and it’s the first and original highway ever built in Dallas.

@@LIVINGINDALLAS I stayed in mesquite, due family. So I’m still here. It’s a wonderful city. It’s clean and very quiet, but of course you do have your rough areas close to balch springs, but most of the people here are very helpful and good people like most cities.
@@LIVINGINDALLAS also the technical term for that highway on a map is state highway 352. It’s so old idk if it will show up on a new map, but when I was younger and delivering drawings for my dad when he was a architect I’d always use that highway to dodge traffic and used a mapsco to get around 😆

Resurgence bc housing is getting ridiculously expensive everywhere else and people are priced out of the northern suburbs..Mesquite used to be way nicer and safer. I grew up and lived in the area for 20 yrs, i wouldnt live in Mesquite today, as conpared to the 90’s and early 00’s.
Nostalgia for the 90’s and early 00’s is understandable! Have you noticed positive aspects of improvements in Mesquite, Despite the challenges in recent years?

We have a great police force and they don't tolerate the theft and crime that other towns do.
I grew up there. I will always have a soft spot for it. But it is a toilet now. Stay away!
What's wrong with it? People were acting like Mesquite like Gary Indiana because it's not as shiny as Frisco or Rockwall.
