- This year's 4 new Jeep concepts to kick off Easter Jeep Safari: the Willys Dispatcher 4xe, Lowdown 392, Gladiator High Top, and the Vactioneer Grand Wagoneer. Each concept ties into Jeep's long and rich history while ushering in new technology, features, and styling. Hear about each Jeep Concept from the people who designed them!

Without Jim Morrison and Mark Allen it doesn't seem like they put enough thought or creativity into this year's concepts.
Yeah, this current team doesn’t know how to push the edges of creativity.
It feels like guys trying to make old school jeeps out of the new parts catalog. Nothing mechanical, it's just "threw some dana 60s at it". Where's the four wheel independent Cherokee? Where's the fully automatic Wagoneer with off-road focused computer controls on the lockers and suspension and drive? Where's the factory four link Gladiator Victory?
And clearly the designers have no clue what parts went into each of the builds.
Yes you are right!
Did Jim Morrison and Mark Allen tell them to start jacking up the prices? I’m pretty sure they weren’t the problem with Jeep lately. Actually, they were two I actually could tell were Jeepers.
Vince Galante, it’s not a car it’s a JEEP! I wonder if your hearts really in the right place for this brand. I have had JEEPs for 40 years and never came across anyone who refused to call it anything other than a JEEP.
With all the Stellantis mentality calling the Jeep cars, I predict a RWD DJ concept for next year. Maybe even front wheel. drive.
Seems like Jeep has given up on building Jeeps that the grass roots want .
been a long time...
I love that shortcut jeep
Yep!
Short cut in a platform to be sold as a sxs like roxor, under $25 the market would open up..
I'm speechless, at one time I owned 7 licensed jeeps that were all capable onroad and off, now that they are showing all these concept cars I'm pretty sure I have bought my last new Jeep. In 2015 my wife wanted a new Grand Cherokee I was shocked to find there is not a tow hook anywhere on the vehicle, dealer said they could not install one due to the optional grille package on the vehicle. These execs don't get it! I dont want designer plaid, I want a utility vehicle!
Amen! Stop trying to turn them into luxury cars! I'm loving the skinny tires and steel wheels and the stripped down shortcut concept. I'm not excited about 12" screens and crap.
Thank you!! Jeep Model description start at 11:11
I need a set of those flat fenders for the gladiator, come on Mopar, release them!
We'll pass it along
I want that Gladiator loved the “Ginger Snap” Great Video
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
Thanks, Gary
Thanks for taking us along for the presentation.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great meeting you at dinner that evening, Rick! -Shaun
Same here!
Please make the Extended Cab Gladiator like the prototype. You'd have that market wrapped up. Like the retro white steel wheels.
Keep the 392!!!!
Right! Long live the 392!
Am I the only one who doesn’t like any of these? Jeep seriously needs to get back to its roots with a low tech, no frills, just the essentials Jeep. The regular Blue Collar consumer can’t afford any of it. These kind of new models are part of the reason used car prices are at an all time high. Just my $.02
Thanks for the great coverage. Did you get to see the new premium soft top that Bill Peffer referenced in his protion of the presentation?
We didn't see the top, but Collard got a close-up view of the 392 Final Edition (the bum did does all their Moab photography).
@13:47 Dana 50 axles?! Who hired this clown?!
Maybe he mis read the cue card for a D60, but it's still 5 lug...
Great to be out with the Jeep team today.
Awesome I love it
Thanks!
What AWESOME concepts!!! Thank you for sharing this with us! I can only imagine how unbelievable it must feel to actually be there!
Thanks for the input. Yep, fun to drive
I was hoping to see a two door long wheel base modern CJ-8 with a Hurricane in line 6. Better yet if it has a manual transmission and no extra electronic BS. I don't need or want a friggin TV screen in the dash.
CJ-8 with a Hurricane; great idea. Its the new mill for the Ram 1500s as well. "Electronic BS," we're kinda stuck with it from here on out. Thanks for the feedback.
I would like to know what brand of air lift suspension you’re using on the Gladiator High.
I’ve been looking at some for a 6 door LJ limo that I’m working on. Checked some Accuair ones out at KOH that look promising.
Good question. We'll put out a request the powers that be and hopefully get an answer.
@@Gone_Gpn
Thank you. What I'm working on is a flame red 2006 LJ with a soft top, strached into a 6 door limo, 4.6 stroker engine, Atlas 4 speed transfer case, 35" tires, most likely going to 37" when I get the Currie 60 axles installed and trying to have rear steer. Putting PRP seats and upholstery in it, still need to stiffen up the frame, add long arms and some tall air ride suspension or 14" coilovers, replacing the gas tank with a 32 gallon tank. Trying to keep the body parts looking mostly stock. I have 3 other well built Jeeps, but having fun with this 06 LJ LIMO right now.
Nice work
Dear BLM closure isn't management...
Agreed, Tyson. One of the biggest challenges in keeping trails open is that of the millions of OHV users only a small fraction get involved in land-use legislation at the local, regional, and national levels. If everyone did, or at least join/support regional associations, the BRC, etc., we would have much greater clout/voice in the political arena. Thanks for the input.
Maserati is such a successful brand, good thing they got this guy as the head of Jeep, because he knows so much about them and building a strong brand image. What a joke!
I’ve never felt more disconnected with Jeep in over 20 years of owning them after hearing that intro from the new guys. It’s getting hard to defend modern Jeep to other off-roaders.
Whats the name of those gold wheels on the red Rubicon 392?
I was hoping they would have brought the JL Overlook concept vehicle, I really had an interest in that one.
We think they had it at the Walker Drug Jeep display. We also think they should bring Safari back.
Plaid inserts still, why is this still not an option! 😫 At least WetOakley or a Levi’s should offer plaid seat covers by now. 😊
Lowdown and Lower Forty should have a sand drag comp
Right!
Stelantis must have cut the prototype budget by 100% or they hired the wrong team..cAuSE rAcEcAR
The designers lose credibility when they keep calling Jeeps “cars.” They need to learn their own branding.
Was thinking same thing
Seems like they ran all the Jeep people out of Jeep mgmt
Please make the "Lowdown 392", I would order one.
Right, and Lower Forty as well.
BLM "we are lucky enough that the Bureau of Land Management allows a lot of recreational use" Thats nice of them to allow the people to use the peoples land.
Yeah and they never stood up to them like old Jeep would have when they closed 317 miles of unproblematic trails.
@@coloradomallcrawlers when you have jeep execs and engineer leads calling the wrangler a car, they do not understand the longterm impact to the industry.
We get your point, Keith, it's been a continuing battle for 50 years. But folks like Melissa, who is a contract 'monitor' is great to work with and simply needs to abide by the regulations passed down the chain. Thanks for the input.
the white steelies and the red steelies. anyone know which wheels these are?
Right! We'll try to find the answer.
Hey what about various Jeep limos meaning a fully capable Jeep Wrangler limo and the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer limos that would be cool
Saying Jeep didn't have a hemi in them in 2009 is wrong. They had them in the Jeep commander.
Good point. I suppose everyone has forgotten about the poor old and short-lived Commander.
@Gone_Gpn thats what i drive daily and do some trails with. I'd love to make it out to moab with it one day.
The new high ups know nothing about jeeps! Kept saying those 2 cars back there...
I thought the same thing. I have NEVER called a Jeep a car. It’s only if you aren’t part of it that you would do that over and over.
@@stevetritle2101 they just sound so out of touch...
They don't know what jeep cult is . Seems like they are having a hard time
Hey Natan. It's a slip of the tongue. Chris Collard here; I'm the guy that shoots the concepts, new Ram Trucks, and lots of other OEM vehicles. We in the industry, even if we are Jeep guys (I own a `52 Willys and the Expedicion de las Americas CJ-7 in the background), have a tendency to call everything a car. When I'm radioing in for the next vehicle to take is place for a shoot I'll say, "Next car please." I'm still here in Moab with the exec team and will mention it do them. Thanks for the comment. C-
@@adventurearchitectsllc9058I’ve owned 7 wranglers (6 bought new from the dealer) over the last 20+ years. I’ve probably only called my Jeeps a car 1-3 times over that time. But it’s not just that… this whole presentation has really caused me to lose confidence in current leadership. This is coming from someone who doesn’t really label stuff appropriately either (we’re not true mallcrawlers)
Hoping very soon the gladiator will get the hurricane engine that will make it a tow beast
We can only guess the Hurricane is coming, it is the new mill for 2024 Ram 1500s. Collard drove one a few months ago and was pretty impressed, even towing a 7,500-pound trailer.
What's up with the short-cut😢
Short Cut is one from about eight years ago and they brought it back.
Please make the 392 version of a Gladiator. Please please please. Its time.
We keep dreaming of that one!
The designer sounds extremely disconnected from the Jeep world oh and they aren’t cars they are Jeeps!!
Wow just reading the comments I guess everyone in here is prefect and never said something wrong
Yep, pretty rough on the new guy. Collard replied to one, let him/her know as a commercial photographer in the auto biz they everything a 'car' or 'vehicle,' doesn't matter if it's a Corvette or Ram Power Wagon. Hope never slips up on a video or we'll have to fire him:)
Even that Redtail RTT is more expensive than most rigs out there.
Thats the first new Grand Wagoneer that ive truly liked. I didnt like the white wheels though. They clashed.
Thanks for the feedback
Jeep absolutely needs to design the bed of the gladiator to be adjustable in length. Its not good at being a truck or an offroader. GM/Chevy is already patenting deigns. FORD is rumored to be doing the same. Jeep cant sell these little trucks as is, so they need to do something.
I wonder if he’s gonna make it past the layoffs.
The Grand Cherokee is nice but that’s gonna cost over $150,000 as equipped. Also in the Jeep why take out the radio screen and leave speakers and subwoofer in?!? That’s wild
Those men (the new CEO and the head of design) do not give me confidence that Jeep is in good hands moving forward. And that spokes person is one of the worst I’ve seen. She looks totally out of her element.
"BLM Monitor..." 🙄. Welcome to the future.
Hey Will, don't be so negative :) Love you to man:)
Maybe it was that whole “allow” talk.
I like the retro green and white. but seriously... who is going to be able to actually afford a new vehicle??
No FC!!!!
Nope, we were wishing they had the Mighty FC on hand.
These JEEP ppl can’t stop referring to a Jeep as a “car”, that is worrisome
Sorry, but you can tell that the heads of Jeep don't embody the Jeep spirit. Perception is reality. If they call it a car and have to TRY to call it a Jeep to fit in, then 99% of the time, it's not a "Jeep" to them.
Edit: oh, and.... saying it's in a "race stance," just proves that they are out of touch.
Exactly… this was embarrassing.
Carbonated, no computer, strait axel, soft top.. Only thing I need is a heater.... Don't want air bags, camera, touch screen... If that's no legal, sell it as a off road Only & I'll register it accordingly.. 20,000 or less.. hahaha!!! (I'll buy 2)
Love it, a stripped down 2-door Rubicon...UTV?
@@Gone_Gpn yes, Rick. I am struck by how many comments are about Jeep getting away from its heritage. If you want stripped down, buy a CJ 2 and then tell me how much fun it is to drive to work. My first Jeep was a 1957 CJ5. It was about as much fun to drive around town as a ox cart. It was only fun off the road. This company can't build products that the public will buy that are not practical for everyday use. Get over it... Only complaint I have is the guy who kept calling the Dispatcher a Willy's. Makes me cringe...
These new PR/Marketing people for Stellantis are going to fucking ruin EJS and Jeep as a whole
If marketing needs to lean so far into the past to get the emotions that the original vehicles used to elicit, you are not designing well.
More Jeeps to be grossly overpriced and not sell. Hopefully Stellantis prices in the realm of reality soon before they run C.D.J. into the ground.
No one cares about the executives blowing their selfes we want to see the jeeps
Hey Damon, thanks for the feedback. Regarding showing presentation, we wanted to share with you and other Gone-GPN fans what we media dudes experience, and folks that want to skip ahead to the rigs can do so. Jeep on!
When your head of design for Jeep brand calls them cars. LOL. Surprised no one shanked these frauds.
The shortcut is the only one I could afford. But as with most new vehicles, I am sure the stripped-out version will cost only a few bucks less than the base models. MFG will claim that the parts they upgrade offset the cost of the features removed. I call that typical BS. The axle cost is negligible in cost. Of course, it is more, but it is not 10k more. Hell, they do not even list the tech specs of the drivetrain anymore. The most they get into on the website is the gear ratio.
Shortcut could be a win if it comes with 2.4l NA 4cyl, LSD axles, soft top with half doors, and price tag under 30k including BS destination charge, which we only have because dealers are still allowed to be monopolies for automotive MFGs except for Tesla and Rivian who do not require new cars to be picked up at stealerships. And I am not pro EV.
🥱😴
I love my jeeps, both new and old, but if I hear "increased content" again I'm going to 🤮. I hope the cheaper equivalent trucks and upcoming next gen 4runner gut Jeep sales. They need to backtrack their pricing, not bloat their vehicles with more weight and things to fail.
All they want to do is raise the price up, up and up some more. What people really want is a Jeep without all the extra tech - too much is lost turning it into a street vehicle. Jeep forgets who their core base really is. It all comes down to the ownership mismanaging the brand and not understanding the American market
Ok ok ok…but when are we going to get Quality and Reliability?? Ugh!!!!
Stelantis needs to hire Jeep people, not these corporate types.
P.S. I hate that they used the Willys name.
All you need to remember Stelantis is an Italian car company. Jeep is a convenient cash cow that keeps them afloat. The American heritage of Jeep means very little except as a source of income. They dont live in Toledo... At least I got my diesel Gladiator before they dumped the oil burner. I'll be buried in it!
When you mispronounce Willys...🤔
Give them a break, two weeks ago they didn’t know how to spell it. They’ve been too busy adopting the mass psychosis of EV mamdates.
This!!!!! Makes me sick to my stomach! John North Willys rolls in his grave every time someone says Willy's... 🤦🤦🤦
Stellantis put their people in charge of Jeep and they just don’t understand what the brand is. This does not bode well and it’s no coincidence to me that this is the weakest year of concepts for the JL at EJS… give us a more efficient smaller v8 as a regular option and let’s start putting some Dana 50’s in the Rubicons and 44’s across more models. You’d sell all of them in a heartbeat.
It's disappointing to watch. Not exciting options at all. Is either Jeep is now lacking ideas or poor sales from their overpriced inventory has tightened up their budget. Do better Stelantis!
Way to do nothing for a year
Mr Engineer Designeer. Jeeps are not cars. Go to Chevy and design Blazer cars.
Our pleasure
Dear Fiat.
Leather doesn't belong in Jeeps. 😉
Bill needs to find a better place to be over paid not at Jeep!
EV thing .. not so much 👎🏻
As a Jeep owner, I see the JEEP brand is circling the drain. It fails to just make affordable, reliable rigs as they were meant to be w/o excess frills & stupid techy gizmos that break. Jeep has lost its way becuz it's trying to identify as a Merc, BMW, Cadillac, and anything else not worthy of the Jeep history. Just put her to rest already, Stellantis!
How come Miss BLM wasn't booed out of there? I still can't believe they closed so many trails here in the Moab area. It seems to be a trend across the US. Makes it harder to vote for Biden even when I hate Trump so bad. Keep the trails open!
Hi Toolam3, Melissa is actually a licensed BLM contract monitor; required for commercial shoots. Collard says she is super cool and always easy to work with. However, she still has to play by the rules that are passed down the chain.
I have the $$$ set aside to buy a Jeep, but not until they take those POS Fiat engines out, and put the inline 6 or a small block V8 back. You shouldn't have to rebuild your engine 50k in at the cost of 10k, it's an insult to the Jeep name.
Head of Jeep knows nothing about Jeep. Sad.
The worst jeep "concepts" ever.
Worst than SEMA builds. Confrats
