If you want to reset your BIOS password on your Toshiba Satellite laptop, then this video is for you. I am resetting the password on a Toshiba Satellite C855, but it works on some other versions as well like C850.
Clearing BIOS password for other laptops may be different

Thank you! I did it on my Satellite C850D - 138 and it worked great. I did a test a couple of years ago, I installed Ubuntu and it didn´t work very well. Yesterday I took this laptop again and I forgot my Supervisor Passwort. Thanks your instructions I find out to access the bios again.

Several years ago I did this with succes. I think it's very brand and type related. And for a pity, there are no new Toshiba's on the market since 2016. I got two of them and in the near future I will buy a Dynabook laptop. I hope it's near the quality of my Satellites. Thanks for helping my knowledge of IT alive.

I didn't realise you had to have the laptop plugged in, power it on, all while shorting the jumper pads.
Did a full dissasembly on it just to take out the CMOS battery which didn't work.
But doing this DID work, I wasn't expecting it to.
Now I just have to figure out why I have 5 more screws than when i started LOL
I always end up doing this on laptops.

    • @aer8nadam
      @aer8nadam Před rokem

I used to do the same thing
Then I started saving the foam padding that is in some of the stuff we buy like inch thick stuff that is easy to poke holes into and I will either follow the numbers on the back of the laptop or draw a rough detailed sketch of the back and location of each screw and ever since I don't even have any leftover screws
Good luck to you on your next one

Peoples young kids playing with laptops is never a good thing, messing with the bios and forgetting what they actually typed in that day.
Same with the windows account password, kids are a bloody pain for locking machines out.

I know on some old lappys there is a 8 pin i2c serial memory for the password, but that is 'Old hat' now, well i think it is.
I've had repeat offenders with the same machine 3 times locked out by a wrong windows password,.
They don't half look sheepish when they did it again lol.

Hi. Thanks for the video and information. I’m not totally certain whether my issue is exactly the same so would like to check with you. I don’t want to change or remove the password.
I have a Toshiba Satellite L50-A laptop, and when I power up, it goes past the Toshiba screen to the “enter password” screen (which I now understand is the BIOS password), however when I type in the correct password and then try to enter it, the screen stays stuck at this screen. Nothing I do will allow this password screen to change.
I cannot even hit F2 to enter the BIOS screen.
I keep finding various tutorials about Toshiba issues, but so far haven’t found any that I think specifically address this issue.
Would you have any advice on this problem for me, and why the screen stays stuck here even when I enter the correct password?
Also, if the BIOS battery (the CR2032j needs replacing, could this be the cause of my computer not letting me get past this screen?
Thank you for your time, it is much appreciated.
    Glenn.

your cmos battery will reset the bios if you leave it out long enough its much easier, that is the whole reason the battery is used, to save bios settings so if you remove it the password will reset, it is impossible for it to save the password when there is no power to save it, it is just a matter of leaving it out long enough, its no different than doing it on a desktop computer
