Will you come with me? Won't you come with me? There's no better place to take a long strange trip with the Grateful Dead than right here. We've got music from every single studio album and a bevy of live albums, to boot. There are celebrated live performances from the 70s and 80s and official videos with more skeletons than you can shake your bones at, an exclusive seaside series on what's to come from the band's rich catalog and details on meet-ups all across the promised land. If it's community you’re after, try your hand at our yearly DEAD COVERS PROJECT competition and connect with fellow Dead Heads around the world. Heck, keep your eyes peeled you might even catch a glimpse of Pigpen on keys, Jerry in a GROOVE, Bobby tellin' tales, Mickey talkin' space, Phil and friends, Bill on the beach, or anyone from our extended family.

It's all happenin' right here. Subscribe and you won't miss a thing.

This band brings me so much serotonin and nostalgia. My dads been listening to Grateful Dead since high school so I’ve listened to Grateful Dead my whole life. This makes me feel like I’m 5, sitting on my dads lap while we drive his Tahoe down to the creek to go fishing on a hot day, and it makes me think of helping him fix old cars in our barn/shop, or riding down a dusty dirt road with no AC, or late nights hanging out at our shop. I’ll always and forever be a deadhead.😂

So we had to carry him to the stairs then Steve said he would never let me in again so I left but have no memory of that ! 😥🥲🌹🥀👻I told him what death was + that I saw ghost when I was younger so if he wanted to b earthbound to become a ghost he could ! So he did + visited me 5 times as one but I couldn’t c him but felt him ! The last time he came to me he lay on me + kissed me goodbye! My hearts been broken ever since he left us anyway but that was almost worse !

I was there for all three nights. It was first known as The World, but now it's called Hollywood Casino Ampitheater, or something like that. Great shows, lousy venue, and fascist security guards who tried to stop people from dancing and having a god time. Thank God the band never played here ever again! (Even though Bob Weir did do a solo show a year or two later) Nobody knew these would be Brent's last shows. Thanks for posting and sharing.

I was in the crowd that night. I remember it so well as sadly I met Brent M. between drums and space. He walked through the crowd with not a soul realizing, at least no one made an attempt to say anything. Not me......I said hey Brent I really appreciate all you do for the music! He thanked me, shook my hand and made his way in to the soundboard which was located immediately behind me. I have reflected many times about that night, for a number of reasons, but this was very close to the end of his Playing in the Band forever.
As far as this show goes watch the great highlights of Scarlet/Fire at about 1:14.00 Wier and garcia at their 89/90 peak was quite a powerful thing, and this was a good show. Earlier in the year I was at 3/21/90 & 3/22/90 in Hamilton ON, Canada where the boys blew the lid off that joint.
As always the show is in the eyes of the beholder quite literally!
Cheers to all my bus mates.

Didn’t get GD until I heard Touch of Grey-then I stumbled onto Scarlet Begonias-this magical melodic tune of ‘the girl, the flowers...the heart of gold band’-Jerry’s voice, guitar that sounds like a bell, the organ-all of it captured my heart. I can picture the west coasters just moving to this grove in Cali back in the good old days-it takes me there. In these concerts they go to Fire on the Mountain-another great jam.👌😎

Not to be a dick and correct you but his name was Brent….. and he played keys. Perhaps you are confused with Billy (Bill Kreutzsman) no big deal but is funny because by the time the 80’s shows came about and touch of grey, that really killed us all a bit, stores started selling yarn bracelets and tie dies at department stores! Uff! I will say that some of the best live sets ever with Jerry were the Alpine Valley shows around 87? I dunno it’s a bit fuzzy after all these years but Tinley Park as a venue BLOWS! For a roadie or a fan, the audio throw major sux outta of that shed and there’s only one way in and out! For everyone! It’s a shit location, I dread it! For me, the best of the Tinley run, especially as it was local for me at the time. A month later and me and the same college bud moved into a sweet greystone in Wrigleyville. Loved the Birdsong, and pretty much the entire 2nd set. Guiding my buds, I claimed there would certainly NOT be a Playin, yet we all enjoyed another one, directly after the last show at Deer Creek. Also, a post-drums Crazy Fingers?! This was a fine show to share with my friends and we attended several more until the end!

As someone who came of age in high school in the mid 70's solidly in the Keith & Donna era, I've never understand the Touchhead era Bias towards Brent. He was certainly the right guy at the right time, Keith was a zombie by '78, but his playing was more Rock than Psychedelia, & songs simply Sucked (but so did Keith & Donna's & Vince's to be fair, but there were simply so many more of Brent's), & maybe I'm biased against him cause he was there for the worst of the Speedball Jerry era (84 - 86) & top 40 Cheez era (87-88). The GD certainly went on to at least another 13 months of top notch music after Brent's passing, it wasn't till after Bill Graham died Oct 91 they really started to fall off. Even so I'd rather hear 92-94 over 84-86

You are probably the only person in the world who would prefer 92-95 to 84-86, as this was literally the pinnacle of their career playing wise. Brent was the best singer, player and band mate. The only things he wasn't good at was songwriting and self control. You are the one with the bias, not Brent fans. You have something against people who came on board after you did, obviously. That's probably hundreds of thousands of people. Simply put, your opinion is ridiculous and troll worthy.

The original Motley Crew. I’ve heard Grateful Dead music over the years. I can see watching these shows why Dead Heads are a thing. It’s like a Holy Ghost Revival. Every soul is getting blessed differently at every meeting. No two concerts are the same. I’m jealous that I was never able to be a part of it. Not to degrade but I’ve seen Phish and Widespread Panic. The Holy Ghost don’t flow with them like with the dead. It’s a beautiful thing.

I had just gotten back from the summer tour and had no idea what he was talking about. Very sad news indeed. I recall Brent had been carried onto the stage that last night in Chicago on his piano bench and we thought it was just a joke or something. The boys had been chipping and partying a bit from what the rumors were. Such a brilliant talent and I felt the band sounded at top of their game 89-90 and Brent was so powerful and skilled.
