Former VP Bukenya briefly held

Police at Kakiri in Wakiso district this evening briefly detained the former vice president Prof Gilbert Bukenya alongside his supporters. Bukenya was later released after he paid a fine for a traffic offence involving his supporters. Police says Bukenya’s supporters who were traveling in a mini-bus on their way from Luwero refused to stop after traffic cops stopped them.
This aroused suspicion. Prof. Bukenya stormed Kakiri police to rescue his supporters but was held for an hour. A legion of his supporters rushed to the police station demanding his release. He was later released after being cautioned.
