Kurt, when you are in Bulgaria try to talk with the young people about where you need to go! You will see the difference in how they will navigate you on English etc.
Japanese thought that Bulgaria is bigger than China when they've been told that Sofia - Varna train is 8 hours.
🤣🤣🤣 we dont have 300mp/h trains unfortunately
@@smileyp5112 I know.You have 80km/h BDZ.....lol

I've binge watched a few of your travels so far and I must say I am impressed with how you travel. You don't use a guide and immerse yourself in the language and culture which makes each and every video a pleasure. I myself travel frequently abroad for work but it's inspiring to see you travel for leisure so freely and create such great content! Keep it coming my friend and safe travels!
the train is an outdated german Interregio. this paintjob was last used in 1986, its the last paintjob in the old bundesbahn color scheme. seeing these old trains makes me nostalgic. of course they still dont have TÜV anymore, but its nice theyre actually still in use and serving people just fine. they still do the job. one of the last models you were able to actually pull down the window entirely. in some waggons you were allowed to smoke. for me this train is like a timecapsule greetings from germany
Schön gesagt
why i love the comment section ! cheers
there are newer trains in Bulgaria but the most are these old ones...
srsly best train ever i miss them Y.Y

We have Bulgarian yogurt in Austin Texas - White Mountain brand: (with L. Acidophilus, L. Bulgaricus, S. Thermophilus, B. Bifidum). It is packaged in a 32 oz glass jar, and is wonderful! 😋

I went to Bulgaria in the 90s and it was brilliant. Went to a Balkan town called Sliven which was unreal. Had so many wild times there, in Varna and the resorts. The people were generally friendly but there was a whole lot of mafia and dodgy things going on. Hats off to this guy; he goes all around the world and doesn't give a f*@k . It is a really raw, unpretentious and real travelogue, which is the best way. Plus he clearly likes a drink 😃
I saw "Varna" written in cyrillic at the first sight at the screen with yellow characters. I guess you were just overwhelmed by the general confusion there... I guess we would've had an absolute memorable video had you sat down with the "kaputt" tramps! A pitty... You are anyway a legend Kurt! That is soooo entertaining to watch and I like how you roll. Alcohol, haircuts, random streets... I would watch that again and again for decades in every corner of the world!
Not everybody knows Cyrillic, you know?
Kurt is cool , my kind of vacations
I like how 95% of the comments are with grammar or vocabulary mistakes.
WoW bro you've been a lot till you get my home town Varna.... Much respect 😂
I love when you do a BORAT impression 😅😂👍
Dont cry. Its good our train in serbia is in worst condition... and you cant belive that you will sit there for 7 hours. Me and my friends had great time in train like that. You can smoke, drink have music. Great time 🤣

Bro I swear I like seeing this channel, why because I just like seeing other people travel to other places
You are a superhero once you have completed the journey from Sofia to Varna. Next time, take a seat in the sleeping carriages. Vodka is also cheap, but I also drink from it 😃👍

Blagodaria in bulgarian
Just a reminder to all, who say that Bulgaria is "not proper Balkan":
The Balkan peninsula is called that way because of the Balkan mountain (Stara Planina nowadays) , 80% of which is in Bulgaria.
of course, Greece is also Balkan
long live the balkans
Here in Colombia we travel by bus. When I travel from my town to Medellin the trip lasts at least 13 hours, sometimes 15 because the bus stops very often to take people. However, I prefer more traveling by plane because it is faster!
I was in Colombia last year, but distances where to long for me and security to low to go by bus. From Bogota to Santa Marta I just took the plane, which was already more than an hour but definitely comfortable. Had some exhausting bus rides in Yucatán, Mexico just a few months ago. Greets!
@@simonlippok40 Great to know you visited Colombia! 😉👍🏽
I wish if I could help u there cus u fi d it so difficult to understand their language. Cos ur english is easy to understand for me. Keep it up n al the best
haha as Bulgarian it took me some time to realize why the side of the rail tracks was always brown-ish. "They use so much oil and it leaks" I thought..
Now days new cars have sealed toilets, but I still like the old ones because of the specific bouncy ride.
Bulgaria is like some Emir Kusturica movie.
I was just in Bulgaria. I took train from Sofia to Plovdiv. Just that simple ride was very confusing on what track it was. Nobody speaks English lol. I also took the train from Veliko Tărnovo to Varna in sweltering heat. That was a hell of a train ride
I was in Bulgaria in May of 2017 and took the train from Sofia to Vidin . I had been warned that in Bulgaria and Macedonia that many people have a phobia against a breeze from an open window. But it was already summer weather and the train had no a/c. Since the windows opened , I opened the one nearest me a crack.. A man sitting on the other side of the center aisle train quickly came over and slammed my window shut. I opened it slightly again and told him to change his ( unassigned) seat. He did. Other than that small thing, I loved Bulgaria.
Macedonia is in Greece.
@@Alexander-bj6vj Did I say it wasn't? North Macedonia is also a separate country.
@@kellygreen5556 so you were talking about Greece?
Man, when I saw that toilet. I lost it 🤣🤣🤣 it’s a damn hole

There are two routes from Sofia to Varna. The first is yours from Sofia to Varna via Gorna Oryahovitsa. And the second is from Sofia to Varna via Plovdiv. That's why the woman asked about Plovdiv.
Man you are crazy to go alone in this country … i love it

Nice video! This train reminds me of the trains I rode on in the 1980 traveling throughout Western Europe. I am sure these are those same trains, these are probably not Russian ones. May times us backpackers would be sleep on those hallway floors, disgusting now to think about!
I think the carriages are built in Bulgaria. The locomotives are mostly the electric Skoda 68e made in Czechoslovakia
@@vasiliansotirov6976 I noticed that in bg most trains are skoda

Love the channel, your travels. Kurt Caz Bingo Card: Food = check, Booze = check, Train toilet draining onto the ground - Soviet hygiene practices at its best. Random stranger? Why did it remind me of a train in India/Africa - packed - only old white people
You may not have realised the positive feature of this train: windows that you can open. Modern trains don't have them, only AC ---> Borat: "very bad".
You travel with fast train 2615 i think. Its interesting how you aksed peoples in english and they understand you right in some cases, but answered in bulgarian.
8:20 - one of the women asked you if the train goes though Plovdiv (city in south Bulgaria) and the other one after that said Pleven (city in North Bulgaria), both are big cities, with familliar names. I still hadn't seen all of your videos in Bulgaria, but if you haven't been to Stara Zagora or want to go to the seaside again, I would be glad to help out :)
Thanks
When are you planning to visit Turkey?
I am one of the veiwer of the guy, I like his expression and movement. I want to know his name and country .
10:23 What is the Bulgarian word for 'levitate'?
These toilets have been working perfectly for two centuries now.
Vodka in small bottles usually is 38.5 grades instead of 40, which is pretty boring to find out.
Fun fact these train carridges are from East Germany. BDZ is going to get new ones soon from Siemens.
Can u try again but this time u can come in (Svishtov-Свищов) it's not one of the biggest towns but our town have so much places u can stay, play and do other things for a low price... We have nice coffee bars , darts and billiard rooms and yeah...im one of the national team players on field hockey we have 3titles for republican champions and 1 for EU champs 16y.o...
these trains were actually produced in Germany many years ago. But they still last.
Its sad to see people who work at the train station in Sofia the capital of Bulgaria doesn't speak English. For the tourists must be very difficult.
Go to Germany and then talk about no english speakers...
@@cesarantunes3816 I was in Germany. I was in Erfurt, Veymar and Jena. Everywhere I was, the people who worked at the train station, bus station and the taxi drivers speak English.
It's very important when you are in foreign country, people who work at the train or bus station to speak English. Now I live in Czech republic and in the beginning i had to speak only English. But in Bulgaria this is kinda normal not to speak English.
did u try MASTIKA brandy?
I feel like a good move might have been to look up the words for “train” and “train station” in Bulgarian at some point, rather than just saying them with a rolled R 😅
Our trains are mostly old german trains from the 1970s and 1980s with old Skoda locomotives, the little new trains are the Siemens Desiro EMU and DMU from 2005 - 2008 and the new ten Siemens Smartron locomotives that BDZ(Bulgarian State Railways) bought before maybe 2 months and will arrive between January and May 2021
