Alopecia just means hair loss. The specific type of hair loss they're talking about is alopecia areata. I have androgenetic alopecia. It sucks, but I'm grateful that I found a doctor who prescribes dutasteride and oral minoxidil. I'm sympathetic toward all people who have hair loss disorders. I hope this newly FDA-approved drug turns out to be a game changer and helps people with this disease.

I believe I am suffering from Alopecia. I started losing hair when I was 16 and I am 31 years old now. The reason I believe it is alopecia is because I starting to experience beard loss too now.
You are right. Mine started at 13 as well with a small patch that grew back quickly. Alopecia starts in a small circle. It then goes in the direction of your hair pattern. Just like when a Barber curs your hair, he follows your hair pattern.
@@gh4081 Supposedly this pill can give us full regrowth man. I had patch on my beard that closed up but now a different section of my beard is falling and my hair on my scalp is slowly still falling.

Is this work on androgenic alopasia?
No not at all. It doesn't help grow new hairs, it just helps people with alopcia to stop their immune system from attacking their hair follicles, so it can grow normally. It doesn't grow new hairs.

Alopecia areata is more likely to affect women, but it can also affect men. Male pattern baldness is androgenic alopecia. The only FDA approved drug for that is finasteride, which is only approved for men, but sometimes it's prescribed off-label for women with androgenic alopecia. Hair loss drugs usually aren't profitable enough for the companies to have an interest in getting them FDA approved. I use dutasteride and oral minoxidil off-label, but unfortunately, those drugs aren't going to be FDA approved because they're not profitable.

Minoxidil 5%, microneedling (I recommend a microneedling pen since it's better than the roller), there are tons of new treatments in pipeline but do your best to keep your daughter's hair so that it can still be cured.

It works for both men and women IF you have alopecia areata which is an autoimmune disorder. If you have regular male pattern baldness then it won't work. Your best bet in that case is finasteride and minoxodil
