- Spent 3 days walking around the hamfest (Wed-Friday) and made videos of the majority of the stuff we saw. It was a great hamfest, although down in attendance a bit from last year. Each year seems to be this way, sadly. Hope you enjoy.
Don't forget to check out the Rock Hill SC hamfest Oct 7th, the Asheville NC Radio Museum Show Sept 9th, and the Clingman NC hamfest Sept 16th, all coming up. After that, not much coming up until Charlotte in the spring.

Haven't been to a swap meet in a while. Cool stuff. Thank you for sharing. Neil, K7WK
This has to be the best filmed ham fest ever. And im a tough critic. I like it because you show the prices, and you talk through the video. Im going to subscribe now.
That looks like a wonderland for electronics geeks and tubeheads like myself. We used to have a electronics fleamarket once a month here in the SF Bay Area, but that went away a long time ago. Picked up a lot of great stuff to satisfy my hoarding instincts. Lol.
It's a very nice place. I enjoyed it. thank you.
Nice sale, enjoyed. Good to see ya again.
This was a great Hamfest. Very glad I made the trip to attend. I scored some serious deals. Looks like you really did well too :) Great video
Thanks for sharing
This looks amazing. I might take some time off from work and drive (from Texas) out there for the 2024 event. Might be nice to get away and meet some new people!
Hey Mark. I saw you walking the fest, but you never stopped talking long enough for me to say hello. 🙂 I picked up those RCA theater amps you referenced. Also a nice Sansui receiver. Not a ham guy, but found some cool stereo items. I didn't know it at the time, but I also captured your table of offerings in my video as well. All the best, hope to see you next year, wherever the fest may be.
It was good to see you there again this year. Sadly, I agree that Hamfests are dwindling overall. One thing I’ve seen is the infusion of CB equipment. I told my CB pal that it is called a HamFest, not a CB fest! Lol
I still like to go, but find that I really don’t “need” as much as I once thought I did. I mainly look for vintage audio gear. As always, I appreciate your annual recap of the event. Brad AE4BP
I love the old stuff at the hamfests. I catch myself buying stuff that is reminiscent of my younger days on the air. I like to get the stuff running again but once I do, I just can't get myself to get on the air much. Maybe when I get "really old" at eighty, I may become more active. Was off the air for 29 years and cranked up my old Swan 350C and got right on CW. 'Still remembered the code well. Lots of broadband noise in my area, likely from solar power inverters or some other square wave stuff. I'm rural and shut off my entire house and I'm still getting the noise. 'Bought a mini spectrum analyzer and I need to get off my butt and figure it out but it's coming from some other place other than my property. Thanks for the virtual hamfest tour. Brings back lots of memories.
Please do a video on your new tower 👍
We were looking for you!
A 33GY7 is compactron tube containing a diode and a power pentode used for damper and horizontal output in black & white television sets.
2:10 I bought that Astron, had a bad cap. I was going to fix it but someone wanted it.
3:04 Still need to test that tiny vx-1r.
21:28 Little one was $10 never seen that type before.
39:58 Cable puller likely from the power company.
47:00 YCARS Hi Philip, Richie
I only read technical stuff myself. LOL Hamfest should get together with more vintage radio and TV guys.
Fine job documenting the end of an era. It's not that ham or classic audio is dying, it's that people don't go out anymore. Amazon and streaming services being prime reasons. The death of malls came first, pretty soon there will no longer be any store fronts. Why bother when you can sit on your ass at home.
Omg.. id give mark a not so blank check to grab me some of that bootie... never seen anything like that near me.. that high voltage power supply .. cheesh.. a box of tubes for 10 bucks? I think im scheduling my vaca next year around ham fest
The hamfest vulture strikes again..
Im in the next county over and have never been
Have you started your amp repair service up again. I have a Scott 222A that needs repair. I'm in central NC
Not until I retire in another 2-3 years.
@clinteastwood457 I saw your post after i posted and thought youtube changed my name(last name is Norwood)
Thanks for your response. I'm in central NC. Do you happen to know of any techs in the area that you would recommend. I have a HH Scott 222A that need service
Mark, I believe that this years Hamfest is probably down, because most folks are having to be in survival mode. With the costs of everything, who can blame us, when we try to save a buck!
