The Apple Watch Sport Loop was one of my favourite styles of strap for the Apple Watch. But there are a few things I wish I'd known before I bought it. When I first wore it, I was really disappointed. Check out my review to find out why, and what I think about it now, after 8 months of wearing it!

Ronan! The main man himself! Great video, always great and helpful to have videos likes these that are informative and reliable for viewers to help guide them along their way. Great work, keep it up!
Cheers Will! I’m delighted you enjoyed the video! I’ll definitely have more reviews coming soon… …ish! 😂😂
I have the trail loop and the ocean band for the Apple Watch ultra. I like them both, but I think I favor the ocean band which is the complete opposite of what I thought was going to happen.
I’ve tried the Ultra on with a trail loop and it’s lovely! I haven’t seen the ocean band in real life yet, but it looks really nice!
Thanks - I bought an apple watch but it was a S/M strap and it's really tight so this video helped with my decision
Thanks for watching! I’m really glad my video helped you out.
Could have been a 30 second review. He likes it but wears the Solo loop more.
Well said, wasting so much time
Thank you dude. Screw these useless video makers
Dragging out a video to get monetized
F**king legend 😂😂😂
thank you for saving my time gentlemen 👍👍👍👍
Great review! I like how the sport loop looks but what holds me back from getting one is I’m wondering how quickly it dries. Does it take long to dry after a workout or say after washing your hands?
I guess it would depend on how wet it was and how damp/cold your environment is. But in my experience, it usually dries within about 10/15 minutes.
@@ronanhutchinson Useful info. Thanks so much for sharing!
I’m happy I can help!
Thank you for this informative video. I am currently wearing my wife’s old series 3, to see if I can get on with it before I purchase a new Apple Watch. But it has a sport band which is driving me crazy, it holds water and sweat under it, and one strap hole is too tight and the next is too lose. So I think I’m going to need infinite adjustment. I tried on the Milanese loop but found it uncomfortable, and the watch just slipped about. I’ll have to go and try one of these on next. Thanks again.
I love my one. It’s really comfortable, and you have the option of making it as loose or as tight as you like. I’d highly recommend it!
@@ronanhutchinson thank you for your very quick reply. Yes I think it could be the one for me.
Got myself a 3rd party sports loop band for 10 euros. I wanted an olive green one and I couldn't find the official one in that color anymore, so I got the 3rd party one. Basically looks the same, except the edges are the same color (dark green), and it felt soft and comfortable from day one. Anyway, feel good I saved around 35 euros, Apple's profit marges are insane sometimes, especially in the accessories department.
That’s awesome! I’m glad you were able to get the colour you wanted. That’s good the band was soft from the beginning.
Apple products are much cheaper in America. It’s not even close. iPhone 14 pro in America is the equivalent of €950 here. When if you want to buy it, it starts at €1339. It’s drastically different prices In nearly every currency when converted
As far as I know, a big factor in the price difference is that in America the price doesn’t include tax. But in Ireland the VAT is included in the price. Because the tax varies from country to country the prices change. Apple may charge a little more or a little less from country to country too. But the tax is the biggest variable
Hi mate, which one did you buy?
I can’t remember what colour mine is called. But it’s grey with a blue stripe up one side. It doesn’t seem to be on the Apple online store anymore. But there are some really nice ones there. The new midnight one is 👌🏻
Thanks for the video. Most band bother me, I've been debating these.
In what way do they bother you? What I really like about it is that it’s not irritating on the wrist, and you can choose how tight or loose you want to wear it. It’s a great strap!
@@ronanhutchinson A whole lot of things bother me about watch bands lol. Here’s my brain dump on it:
The overall material is one, but it sounds like this be fine after a few days to a week or two. One of my big problems it’s just finding the sweet spot between the feeling of something strapped to me, and being too lose. This may be good in that case too,
Also, I hate it when water and stuff gets under a band when I wash my hands. I’ll often take my watch off when I wash my hands, and forget to even put it back on.
I believe people typically wear their watch on whichever “handed”they’re not. I’m ambidextrous, and use certain hangs for certain things, so I very often snag my watch and band on stuff, and it overall gets in the way.
One of the biggest ones is just resting my wrist down on my computer or desk with the band one is uncomfortable.
Overall, the solo loop is the only band I’ve found that will allow me to even want to wear a watch. I had sold my original Apple Watch after a few months, because I couldn’t stand any of the bands, then decided to buy a another watch a few years later when Apple announced the solo bands. However, I do find myself taking it off, and I don’t wear it around the house, I only wear it when I’m going out places… When I remember.. i’m sure this is all mostly an OCD thing lol.
I’m with you on the whole water getting under the band. I actually think the sport loop is much better for that than the solo loops. The braided solo loop is nicer for that too. I’m mostly right hand dominant, so I keep it on my left wrist, but I still clip it off stuff all the time. (I think I’m just clumsy 🤣) I have some pretty bad scratches across my watch face! But I don’t really have any of the other issues you have. It can sometimes be uncomfortable if I’m typing on my laptop. But I think I’ve gotten used to it, and have gotten better at angling my hand so my wrist sits comfortably on the desk with my watch on.
So you wouldn’t need to use any detergent to clean Sport Loop strap? Thanks!
Mostly no. But, I do use soap occasionally, and that does the job.
Very helpful review, thank you!
Thank you! I’m glad it helped.
Thank you! Very helpful!
Great! I’m glad you found it useful!
If you purchase an apple watch with a different strap from apple store, would you get the normal strap as well?
No, as far as I know, (and can remember) you only get one strap with the watch. When you order, you have a choice of certain bands that you can include. That’s the way it works on the Irish store anyway.
@@ronanhutchinson thanks man
very helpful to choose my sport loop (charcoal)!
Thank you! Im delighted to hear you found the video helpful! Enjoy your sport loop! I think you’re gonna love it! I really love wearing mine.
Thanks for the review… I got mine 2 days ago. But for me it’s hard to find the ‘sweet spot’ of tightness. After a couple of hours use it felt to tight even when is wear is just a little bit looser. I hope it’s the stiffness you was talking about. Does that goes away like it fits better to your wrist?
Hey, the stiffness definitely goes away. I used to find that my wrist hurt if it was too tight. But now it’s much better. I think you should be able to loosen it just a tiny fraction so that it’s not too tight, but also not too lose. Once the nylon relaxes, and softens hopefully it’ll be much more comfortable for you.
Thanks for a detailed review.
Cheers Paul! Thanks for watching. I’m glad you liked it!
Does it keep the watch from flipping around to underneath your wrist? My sport band never has that happen and it was so much better than Casio and other watches that the watch always flipped around.
Hey! Thanks for watching. Yeah the watch has never moved position on my wrist with the sport loop. I’ve never had my watch turn around using it. It’s also really easy to adjust if it’s too loose or too tight. Hope this helps.
Quick question… since the sport band has velcro.. does the velcro wears down? Meaning overtime will it not stick the more you wear it and taking it on and off. Please let me know thank you!
I haven’t had any wear on the Velcro. It works perfectly the whole way around the band. It may happen eventually, but it hasn’t started at all for me. So I don’t think it’s a pro with them.
@@ronanhutchinson oohh okay. Thank you for that information. Very useful information when trying to decide which band to choose.
I’m really glad I can help! Personally, I think the sport loops are lovely bands.
Hi I want buy the white , how difficult is to clean up ?
I’m not sure about the white to be honest. But I wash mine under a tap with some soap and warm water, and it always comes up looking like new. But mine is grey, so it probably hides a lot too. I’d hope the white would also clean up well, but I’m sorry, I can’t give you a definitive answer.
Looks like you installed the band upside down (pull up to attach vs pull down) compared to how these come when you buy the Nike watch with these bands.
You’re not the first person whose said that to me 😂😂 I never realised there was a right or wrong way to use it. Personally, I prefer having it the way I wear it in the video for putting it on and taking it off. But when you wear it, I find it makes no difference.
Did you wash it to make it softer, or did it just get softer over time? How long did it take to get soft? Thanks!
It just got softer over time. I have washed it, and that makes it look like new again. But the softness just happens naturally.
@@ronanhutchinson ok, thank you!
How do you wash it?
I either wash it if I’m wearing it in the shower with body wash, or I just wash it under a tap with soap and warm water. Either one does the trick and only takes a minute or two.
@@saragaviria6319 I hand wash it in the sink, then let it air dry.
Thanks for the information.
Glad to help. It’s a great watch strap!
I like my Sport Loop for casual wear but for active wear I keep a set of knockoff Nike Sportbands for when I'm out running
Nice! I’m a fan of the sport loop for casual wear too. I really like my solo loops for running and exercise.
Yes bro, great review. I really like the sporty look but to be fair, the nylon will probably last longer. Good work dude
Cheers Reece! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I really like both styles. I do think the solo loop’s a bit more basic, and the sport loop’s a little more fashionable. I’ll have to come back with an update in a year or so, to talk about the durability, and how they’re holding up!
@@ronanhutchinson hey Ronan may I ask now about the durability it’s been almost a year ?
It’s held up really well. It’s almost like new! I feel like it might have slightly faded, but if I wash it, it comes up perfect. But I also rotate it out with my other straps, so it’s not being used every day. It’s still incredibly comfortable though! I’d still totally recommend it.
Love the video! This video helped persuade me to give the sport loop a shot - just got it today and it feels soft and flexible out of the box, very happy :)
Excellent! I’m glad you like my video! And I’m even more happy you like the strap! Which colour did you go for?
Would you recommend it to make you sweat in hot weather?
I wouldn’t recommend it to make you sweat. But I find it’s really good in hot weather. Sometimes if you get water, or sweat under the solo loop, it doesn’t dry, and can give a little bit of irritation on the skin where the band covers. But next the sport loop is breathable, it generally tends to dry out quite easily so this doesn’t happen. Hope that helps Ali!
It’s my favorite band!
I really like it too. I love the solo loops too though. I’m genuinely torn between them!
Really really nice, but you did fit the bands on the wrong side the loop goes on the bottom😉
😂😂😂 I like to wear it on top. I didn’t realise there was a difference… it’s very comfortable either way.
which one do you prefer out of the white sport loop and the black sport loop (both nike)?
I definitely prefer the black. I think it looks really cool, and long-term I think it would wear better. The white is lovely, but I feel like it would be a real struggle to keep clean. What about you?
@@ronanhutchinson I agree, I wasn’t sure which one to buy, but I think I’ll get black
Nice! I think you’re gonna love it!
@@ronanhutchinson yeah, I’m getting the se with it
How are the Velcro hooks performing? Do you notice any loose threads caused by putting it on and off?
Hey! No, the Velcro hooks are excellent. There are no loose threads from them. The strap is still perfect.
I would only get it if you plan on replacing every year, it gets worn out after a while. I have had a surf blue sport loop for one year, and only wearing it for around 6 months, it is pretty faded, and the place where the hooks attach is pretty worn out.
Interesting. Thankfully mine hasn’t started to wear like that yet.
IS IT ITCHY OR NO??? ANSWER FAST. I RETURNED THE NIKE SPORT LOOP BECAUSE IT WAS SO FING ITCHY PLZ THX
Hey. No, I never had any irritation from it. But I did from the sport loop.
The solo loop makes my wrist feel sweaty and makes me hate wearing my Apple Watch
Ah sorry to hear that! I haven’t had that issue, but clearly it’s not for you. The sport loop won’t have that problem. I’d say the braided solo loop would be good for you too, but it’s twice the price of a sport or solo loop!
My problem is I have a very large wrist apparently - looked at buying Apple Watch today but the it would not fit me - so looking at the elastic type ones but have nerve damage in my wrist - so I need something that does not fit tight with pressure feeling. what is the largest wrist that this would fit please?
Hi Margaret. Sorry to hear you’ve got nerve damage in your wrist. The largest solo loop band size depends on whether you get the 45mm or 41mm watch. The 45mm goes up to size 12, and the 41 goes up to size 9. My advice would be to follow the measurement guidelines on the Apple website, and consider going up a size. The solo loops are really comfortable, and do loosen over time, but just be careful not to wear it too loose, as if the watch stops detecting your wrist, it will lock itself, and then it won’t give you full functionality.
@@ronanhutchinson I think I would go more with the sport loop as that looks more adjustable. I THINK the watch I was looking at was 41mm as I felt the 45 was a bit heavy to wear. I will find the measurements on the apple website...surprised they do not have a much larger one that comes with it.
I think you’re right. The sport loop is very adjustable, so you can wear it exactly to you find it comfortable on your wrist. The Velcro tabs will latch onto any point on the strap too, so there is no defined attachment point. It also comes in plenty of lovely colours, so I’m sure you’ll find something you like! I love the sport loop. It’s a really comfortable strap!
Love my 3 pack for $26 on Amazon
Nice! There are some great straps there!
Very thorough and helpful, especially that the "out of the box" irritation issue goes away after a few weeks, plus how to clean the strap. Thanks.
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching
I’ve got an 8 with a Nike sports loop band. It’s stretching out! I can’t wear the silicone type bands, I also can’t afford to keep replacing bands.
Interesting. I have a a few solo loops, and a braided solo loop. They’ve all stretched by a few centimetres. But the solo loops still fit really well. My braided loop feels a little looser, but not so much that my watch comes away from my wrist and locks. Because of the way the sport loop works, you won’t ever have to worry about stretching though. You just adjust the Velcro strap to whatever point in comfortable on your wrist.
@@ronanhutchinson it’s not staying put while I’m exercising, the band starts to loosen just enough for the watch to move around on my wrist no matter how much I tighten it. And I’m not doing anything crazy, just indoor yt workouts aimed at older folk since I’m an older folk.
That’s wild. I’ve never had that myself. I find if I over-tighten my band my wrist gets sore. But it doesn’t seem to loosen on its own. I’m sorry to hear it’s not working as well for you… 😔
My favourite straps are definitely the sport loops - to me they are super confortable and I love the look. I also like the braided solo loop. You are wearing yours backwards - I mean, not that it matters and I don't think there's a right or wrong way to do it, but I think it looks and feels odd that way - but you might think otherwise :) Thank you for the video and review
Thanks for watching! Yeah, I love the sport loop too. I’m really torn between it and my braided solo loop. They’re both awesome. I definitely think there’s no right or wing way to wear it. I find opening and closing the strap is much more comfortable the way I wear it. (I’ve tried both ways) So, if I am wearing it the wrong way around, I don’t mind. I kinda love that you have the option of wearing it both ways.
Please try to add closeup videos of the content u are reviewing
I did…
Looks really good. Great review!
Thank you!
Mine great love it
Same here! It’s such a great strap!
Does it get loosen after sometime ?
No, I haven’t noticed mine getting an looser. Because it opens, and you don’t have to pull it over your hand, like you do with the solo loops, I don’t think it stretches out.
Does it is worth buying ?
I definitely think so! It’s one of my favourite straps.
It looks different to him but similar to others, it's not like one is leather or metal or even a different color
I have big hands so I find this strap to be pretty annoying to get on and off. I have to open it all the way and even then it needs to stretch to fit over my hands.
Sorry to hear that. I hope it's at least comfortable when you have it on... Maybe the regular sport band might be the way to go...
anything velcro or rubber is cheesey. nothing beats the Hermes band
I definitely find the sport and solo loops incredibly comfortable. But those Hermes bands are pretty nice too.

you have put it on the wrong side.
You can put it either way… as long as the connectors are in the correct way up it doesn’t matter.
Jesus Christ love you
Needs to be wider for a man
way too long
thats too much info for a sport loop too much blah blah
