My great grandfather fought with this regiment in WWI, and was one of the few survivors. What a horrible battle, in a horrible war. He received a hand written note from the King. God rest these men’s souls.

Yet you diminish their sacrifice by saying it wasn't their war. It was their war as it was a World War and they answered the call. Now if you said WW1 shouldn't have happened at all then I would have agreed with you

Respect to you, sir. Much is said (and rightly so) of Newfoundlanders & the Scots for example who fought at the Somme, but not much is mentioned of the other Battalions such as the Essex Regiment or the Royal Berkshire Regiment who also fought in this battle

    “Former country” the CBC says,
Like Hell, we’re still here and and we’re still a country despite what the deconstructionists in Toronto and Ottawa would have us believe.

And yet we disrespect their unknown soldier with a canadian flag on his casket we couldn't let him have his moment as a pround newfoundlander the right flag is the red ensign of newfoundland not the canadian flag or the canadian red ensign this is akin to calling a cape bretoner a nova scotian.

It seems the Canadian Government has not learned from history and will send NATO 1000 troops to Latvia for a new NATO brigade
