I wrote this song after I lost a pregnancy in 2015. I didn't ever consider sharing it until recently, when within a month three seperate couples I am friends with also experienced pregnancy loss. Within the same month some other friends of mine found out they couldn't conceive ...and another friend experienced her second elective termination ...and another couple received news that their only child who is not even 12 months was terminal. It felt like my heart was breaking all over again because as Mother's Day approached, their arms were empty and I know what that feels like. I wanted them to know that I will never stop seeing them as parents and I hoped that by sharing this song they would know that even though it might feel like they're alone in their pain, there's a whole lot of people who get it and are sending love their way. I honestly believe God is keeping your babies for you, and you will meet again. 💞
This is a very spontaneous video! A group of us were doing some work together and at the end of the night I asked Kathy to help me film this song. She sat with me for about 15 minutes (!) as I played her this song a few times through. She quickly picked up the harmony and lyrics, and we hit record. This was totally scary, but we did it anyway! It felt right 🙂

If you are not familiar with the term rainbow baby, it refers to a child that is born during the grief of a lost child. There is no rainbow without the storm, hence "rainbow baby" or "rainbow pregnancy". Celebrating and feeling joy at the same time as grieving and feeling pain can be a difficult and confusing experience. It can be helpful to talk to someone you trust about what you are feeling.
