    I wish Kyle wouldn't try to normalize 100K vehicles. Companies can price these things however they want but we need to quit accepting it and vote with our pocketbooks

      Try to ignore many things Kyle say and do. They’re irrelevant to over 90% of EV drivers. For him this is a way to spend his time and make a living doing it.

    • @Icayn

      Kyle is right, if Rivian and Tesla, decide to charge 100k for a truck, then GM comes along and gives you a bunch more features and value for the same 100k, why are people whining about the GM product? Where was the whining when Rivian and Tesla made 100k trucks? Like he said buy a cheaper spec if you can’t afford the 100k model.

    • @Crazypostman
      @Crazypostman Před 21 dnem +1

      @@Icayn I get what you're saying but there's plenty of people like me that are refusing to pay the price. I've had the invitation to purchase a cybertruck since the first week of January I would really like to have one but there's no way I'm paying the markup. I would like to have the new cars but if the prices are going to stay crazy I'll either keep my same car or buy something used.

      I think you are doing the right thing in waiting. EVs depreciate fast but degrade slowly, no engine and transmission wear and tear to worry about. Battery degradation has proven to be minuscule in GM and Tesla BEVs. Used is the way to go with EVs.

    • @kyliefan7
      @kyliefan7 Před 18 dny +2

      The EV is really for a couple or a new family because it seems to sacrifice legroom for trunk room! It’s about the size of a Bolt EV with a larger trunk storage. could work for me!

    • @s2hill
      @s2hill Před 18 dny +1

    @s2hill Před 23 dny +8

    1:01:35 from the fully charged review this is dramatically larger than EX30 with regards to leg room. The rear was huge comparatively speaking. And he is like 6’2” with front seat set for him. Much wider also which creates better space inside.

    The EX30, as lovely as it is, has next to no rear seat legroom, and that is a deal breaker for me. The EV3 has loads of rear seat space. It’s no contest!!

    I would like to call it NACS (one syllable & people don't remember random numbers easily), but maybe we should rebrand it to Not Awful Charging Standard, so it's not just for North America. (Last I checked South Korea uses CCS1 too, etc...)

    EV3 looks great and very appealing but makes no sense to me and the deal breaker that it is front wheel drive when it doesn’t have an engine in the front hood. It is an EV designed the ground up so really no excuse for not having it rear wheel drive so that is why the EX30 will also be my preferred choice

    For whatever one dumb old man's opinion is worth, I agree that the EV3's DC charge rate is not a big deal. I drove a Bolt EV for three years and was never inconvenienced by the slow DC charge rate.
    Now I drive a Mach-E GT Performance and am not the least bit concerned about a 150 kW charge rate, mainly because I only DC charge on occasion just to be sure plug & charge is working correctly.

    Martyn my point of inlet type is you would choose the same Polestar with the new inlet type even if it cost a bit more being the next model year if you lived here. You said inlet won’t affect the price but the reality it will. You don’t face this Elon Tesla stirred pot called North America Charging. We do and yes it will effect resale value because like ChaDemo it will suffer from fewer and fewer plugs and eventually be a life of using adapters 💯 of the time. A hundred percent use of adapters eventually lead to failures we’ve already seen just a month in to adapters being used.

    People gripe about the price because the reviewers on CZcams tend to focus on them. I realize that’s driven by what the OEM’s make available. But end of the day the masses can’t afford 100k trucks.

    I bet there is minimal cost difference in the battery due to charging speed. I would guess the EV3 charging speed has more to do with the lower voltage than anything else which is an artificial decision to segment the market. Maybe there are heating and cooling concerns, but I would think having fewer types of battery packs would be cheaper than having multiple versions.

    Please please please press Palmer for a straight answer on OTA updates for performance and charging to existing (21-23) Mach-E vehicles. Ford promised it and they need to deliver a car which will be improved if they want to compete with Tesla. Improving the charge curve and removing the 5sec limit on existing cars would show Ford is committed to the vehicles and won't abandon them.

    • @loriallen67
      @loriallen67 Před 20 dny +1

      No. Many older homes have only a 100 amp panel total for the house. My home which was rehabbed in 2005 has a 200Amp panel which is pretty standard for more modern homes. But to have a 200 amp circuit is a very tall order.

      I get by with a 240V/20A circuit at 3.5kW (NEMA 6-20 receptacle). Average American's daily drive is 40 miles (~10kWh). A 10 hour overnight charge on 3.5kW gives you 35kWh.

    GM doesn't have the numbers to motivate Tesla! Excluding the Bolt (which is not made currently and would not be a good road car based on charging stats) there currently aren't that many GM vehicles that would benefit using the Tesla system. That being said Tesla/GM still need to move forward with the commitment.

    NACS is only Tesla Charger plugs and here is why: Some V3’s NACS have been ungraded to a hybrid of the J3400 standard in that they are bilingual and able to talk to CCS EV’s. These NACS V3’s can talk to CCS but can still talk to really old Tesla’s making them different than J3400 plugs out there. Charger Point J3400 are not bilingual. They will charge CCS and Tesla CCS Enabled vehicles but not old NACS Tesla’s. Tesla V3 appear to be J3400 plugs having a second language being added but are truly NACS in their unique ability to charge the older Tesla fleet which only NACS can do. Things that are different aren’t the same and the J3400 plug everyone is adopting for their inlets will never be a NACS inlet. NACS will always be a Tesla exclusive just like when it was declared to be the standard even though V3’s can mimic J3400 by having their hardware upgraded. NACS alone can charge the original Tesla’s regardless of version of Supercharger because they are simply a Tesla standard branded NACS though some NACS are bilingual for some V3’s & presumably V4’s. Electrify America, EVgo, ChargePoint etc will never be NACS, they will be J3400 talking only CCS that some newer Tesla bilingual EV’s can take advantage of. NACS is only Tesla Charger plugs and EV inlets and that’s why. It may have a catchier name but the vast majority of the public will be confused showing up at a plug that fits but doesn’t charge if we call them all NACS. Like it or not Elon called his entire network that share only a common plug shape and charges any Tesla since the Roadster, NACS. The J3400 standard will never do that by specification of design. A catchy name isn’t needed for J3400 as everyone’s app will help clarify the ubiquitous misuse of NACS. 🤦🏻‍♂️

    People who tow on regular basis want nothing to do with EVs. Not sure what this guy is talking about. Legacy has created so much negativity about EVs that it’s boomeranging and hurting their own EV sales. People who buy Tesla are normally very well informed and able to cut through the media BS. It’s the legacy auto that is going to hurt on their EV investment since they won’t be able to compete with Tesla and other EV only companies. RIP garbage legacy auto
