I feel the same way. Since discovering him I’ve made a discipline of feeling as deeply as I can when I play, and it’s opened things up so much creatively…playing feels less like an intellectually punishing puzzle-solving effort and more like pouring my heart out to a loved one.

I'm really, really impressed with Fender's marketing team, the artists they feature from Julian Lage, Tom Morello to Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine and countless others, all innovators. Also embracing guitarists' guitarists like Ariel Posen and Josh Smith. Staying relevant in such an impressive way. Compare that to Gibson's CZcams channel artists these days and their spokespeople... Anyone know what I mean? Even the visual side is so clean and sleek.

A fellow musician friend recommended this video to me near Christmas in recent months, and I'm so glad I watched this! As someone who hadn't found a way among many to actually understand what notes are on which fret positions, I struggled so much with practicing. And around the time I checked out this video, I spent a little time thinking about the guitar, and suddenly it hit me that practicing those single notes on the left hand like in the video would really help me! Recently I've been able to find some melodies I sing on the right fret positions, and I added the right hand. It feels amazing☺️

I think his perspective on creating art is so right. Just working on a piece of music and then just letting what comes out, come out. So often I'm judging what I'm doing as its happening in real time, and I think it's so important to live moment to moment whatever it is I'm playing, and just be okay with the fact this is where my preparation has lead me. I'm thankful for him as an artist. He's inspiring.

I have his song list from the night. Handwritten. Going to frame it at some point.
He had Jorge Roeder on Bass. He's a fantastic bassist. I'd like to see him discover or meet Don Thompson. I'll look into work he's done.
Dave King....wow. Sometimes in rock, the drummer makes the band. Well, in this trio, Dave King plays some wicked traps. My belief is that Dave really enjoyed the Vancouver show. The audience absolutely loved him.
I'd love to see the Trio do a really killer rendition of Blue in Green. I think Lage and his Trio could turn Blue in Green into a tasty cool Jazz Feast.
