Hey guys, so this was an awesome trip and a fun tourney with a bunch of great fisherman and friends. Again it was just for fun. The rules were to catch the biggest redfish, trout, or snook on the salt strong lures to win the belts. Or who ever caught the biggest fish on the pink Fred Jerk Shad no matter what it was would win the Slot Machine Rod. But in the end of the day it was just a couple of days fishing and you’ll see in this video I fish with bait. None of those fish count in the tourney. I just used bait to have fun and make the most of the trip. Even if I caught the fish on zman, strike king, or Rapala lures etc for example it still wouldn’t count. I just wanted to clarify because some people commenting didn’t understand that. I was fishing for fun and for the tourney on and off. The bite midday was non-existent so we needed to use bait to catch something even if it didn’t count. I hope you all still enjoyed.

Salt Strong needs to create a new "Cobia" and a "Spanish" belt just for you, Rich.
Salt strong introduced me to the CZcams world of fishing. Met a few guys on an island in SW Florida when I was a young buck. Showed me some ropes and ran around catching pin fish for them. Salt Strong I believe had just gotten off the ground. Absolutely mind blowing how they’ve exploded and brought everyone with them. I now live in FL on that same island and miss seeing their flag being flown.
I’m fairly new, like 1-1.5 years as a sub to them and as a Florida resident. god damn is smart spots useful. Got me right on top of some reefs in a completely new area last weekend while seeing weather and tides and depth. Was using it on my kayak like a mile out hahah. Seeing all that info in one place is so damn helpful. That’s before you even start to dig into their videos, articles, and tackle shop. I would be no where with out them. FG knot, how to find spots, their rod/reel combo, it’s all primo. the mulligan paddle tail destroys as well. Won’t use anything else. has caught me a few species of grouper, overslot snook, bull reds (got my first few this week on the gulf coast) and mutton snapper, just to name a few of the highlight fish.

@@FishAholicTV The fishing guides & people there are very helpful & friendly..I lived out there for awhile & I also was a construction contractor out there for almost 30 years. Many celebrities used to fly in just to eat there & also of course during Tarpon season,, fish as well.

that little clear rubber bead on that hook is designed to be slid up to the plastic to prevent the tail slipping down the hook, you had it up by the eyelet doing nothing.

What's your camera settings? Why people when they get a bite press shuter button on camera ? Thanks
That is the GoPro Hindsight function. I don’t use it. I prefer to have it recording the whole time. A lot of people do use it because it can save on storage. Especially if you are fishing and filming all day and have a lot of slow time. Then after 30 seconds of recording it deletes the footage unless you press the shutter button.

Congrats rich, i spent the weekend at jupiter and only caught a croaker which is tough i didnt really know any spots im from the west coast its great to see healthy waters here and great fish. I would love to see you try fishing Sarasota where my local area is. Ive caught some big fish recently
Thanks so much!!! Yeah I was out that way last year. Made a tripletail video in that area but sadly I filmed a couple vids right in the Sarasota area and caught only a few little snook and trout. The footage probably was sacrificed to make room for some other footage on my SD cards hahaha.

That's kind of a once in a lifetime sorta catch there with the cobia! Wild stuff.
I’ve heard from charter captains and old salty guys that if you see a spotted eagle ray jumping, always cast in front of it. I see that pretty often inshore. Cobia supposedly follow the rays just like they follow sharks. No luck for me yet but it makes logical sense I think.

Mr Nole Yakin, do you think I spotted that cobia from two miles out and knew it was coming…? Haha common man. That was the fish won the slot machine rod. The 28” redfish that won was about a mile away from the cobia while I was randomly casting around. All the fish caught using the drone didn’t amount to anything to help win anything in the tournament. I know I know you’ve said it’s illegal now many times. Educate the public on the laws then if you are so stuck on it. It also was a tournament for FUuuuN. Again fun. Not for money, a new boat, or anything of that nature. Fuuuun. I guess you didn’t watch the whole video.
I know know it was to long and boring for you to watch so I’m sure you skipped around. Sorry to make you suffer and to put you through that. You know how long we were out there? About 12 hrs the first day and 7hrs the second day. Drone batteries have roughly 20 to 30 minutes of flight time and I have three batteries. It’s not like a had a drone up in the air the whole day following me around tracking fish as I’m kayaking and fishing around. Sorry you had a bad day. No need to take it out on me. Tight Lines I hope you go catch a cobia in 2ft of water so you’ll happy.

How did I cheat…? I caught all the fish that counted with the artificial lures they had to be caught on. I just caught bait to fish with to catch additional fish for the video because I knew during the middle of the day the bite would get tough. I don’t think you watched the whole video. I know I know it’s a long video and I’m sure it had some boring parts so you skipped around. It’s not a B.A.S.S tourney for a bag of money. It’s just a friendly tournament for fun amongst content creators.
Again please put a link in the comments about it being illegal I’m sure it will educate others. I’m not originally from Florida so I didn’t know that was even a rule. I didn’t spot the cobia with a drone and my biggest redfish of the day was caught just randomly casting around all on lures. This was a friendly competition and it’s not like I’m commercially fishing keeping everything I’m catching by using the drone to find the fish. I’m not in a tournament competition for high stakes with a pot of money. I’ve competed in many many tournaments before fresh and salt and if that is a rule in a tournament then I leave the drone at home. Or if it’s only artificial allowed on board then that’s all I bring. This was all for fun and bragging rights.
