- Well guys I finally did it. I bought my first Supermoto!
Say hello to my 2016 DRZ400SM , I've always said I would never own one but it was too good of a deal to pass up and I figured I would give it a shot. The Grey / Gold color combination is without a doubt my favorite color combination and this thing sounds as good as it looks with the FMF exhaust.

THats why I love Jose, help you put it back to stock when you buy it, I bought a bike from him and the tire had a nail in it, he paid for half the tire after he realized he was the one who picked it up. Props to Jose! Mah man

I've had one for 2 years , rode it almost everyday like a hooligan and didn't have any trouble with it whatsoever... Then decided "man I need more power" , sold it and bought a husky 610 - biggest pile of crap i've ever owned , sold it after 2 months and only god knows how much lost money , and bought a exc 530 converted to supermoto. Drives like a charm but is a pain in the ass to maintain , and there's always some type of sealing or bearing that needs to be replaced , not to mention the fact that I'd have to probably open the engine at the end of the year.
So im honestly thinking about going back to the DRZ next year , because it's the most reliable supermoto you can get ... and about power - well my friend clutches a 100% stock drz up in 4th gear (long , stock gearing) , so maybe instead of complaining about power I should spend some time on a stunt spot :)
should consider a wr450
Try ktm 690 smc. Much more power and still 10 000km service intervals
Matt drift or a 250. Those things are agile and savage.

Don't joke about not looping out, because it will definitely happen to even the best stunt riders, you do have skills though no doubt, Make sure to wear gear when wheelieing, I know I sure will! With the 250l if it starts to come down it often wont have the power to bring it back up so I have found you have to keep it up, with my plated wr250f it is much more twitchy, but it has the power to bring it back up.
I’ve looped plenty of times haha, and yes the 250f has way more grunt.
I figured bro, we all do! I had a bad loop a few weeks ago on the crf250l the bike landed on my lower leg and ankle at 40 mph and smashed it pretty good. It was at night right after a storm and hit a pile of gravel and it just came back to quick for me to react, but I wish I would have pushed the heavy pig away from me! I had what most would consider as good boots on, but it was bad enough for me to order a pair of low cut reinforced motocross like boots yesterday, just in case. I have off road racing boots but I don't want to wear them all the time.@@AdventureDaily

I bought a DRZ SM in like 2007 i think. As soon as i got it into 2nd gear i said to myself.."what the hell did you just waste your money on??" because it was such a slug. I did all the mods besides replacing the carb and it was okay. Sold that and in 2008 bought a 2004 DRZ E still in the crate. Bought a parted out S model frame and title and plated the E. It is such a fun bike!! LOVE THE DRZ!!!

Got my supermoto...it is strong at 56 rwhp ( on my dynojet dyno)...MZ BAGHIRA 660CC! THE BLACK PANTHER.....USES Yamaha 660cc 5 valve engine...
It is extremely strong...kinda makes. The drz seem feel like a 250!!!😎😎😎

Yeah buddy! Good eye, I trashed those things.
Put the fcr39 carburetor on it, some say it gives you close to 10 extra hp.
Trickmustang 1994 And put Hotcams Stage 2s in it, and oof! Power in all RPMs.
This one put down 36HP on the Dyno so I’m pretty happy with it as is.
Attention Deficit The stock DRZ is at 32 HP, so what mods do you have to be at 36 HP? I'm curious since I haven't taken mine to a Dyno test yet. Mine has:
-Yoshimura RS-2 Full Exhaust.
-FCR39 slant carb.
-Hotcams Stage 2 both intake and exhaust.
-15/39 sprockets, if that affects Dyno reading.
Good to see you on a Supermoto finally. You've seen the way "Sumo is life" and already ripping those dank nooners !!! I love the DRZ400 but got rid of mine for a 701 for a little better highway and 6th gear. But I think I likes the drz better for wheelies getting there on the 701 though ;)

That bike looks GREAT.
mine had a FCR39 carb, airbox mod and a yosh full system, it rocked.
In Salt lake city, 700 E, light to light I used to pick on all the Harleys, and out drag them, they were like WTF(I don't do that now, lol)
Then the V-rods hit the scene, and my DRZ400 wasn't enough, lol.
That's going to be SOooooo fun!!
I look at our classifides all the time for a DRz400SM with a FCR39 and a good pipe all the time.
I have a KTM505 SM setup now, but it won't have the longevity of a drz. In the future I'd like a 2019 Honda 450x(I think the next gen drz) with a sumu setup. Cost to smiles, all DRZ though.

just now watching this older video, and its funny because i told myself id NEVER get a drz400, and here i am with a 2003, 3x3 mod already done. def more bike than i can handle off road, and runs like a top considering its carb'd. there are a lot of the "common issues" people talk about, but i dont really experience them. im not sure if i'd ever get an SM though. i already dont ride my street bike anymore LOL

Just look at last pic of my IG post to see a good pic of my DRZ. Right before I deployed, the rear wheel bearing got toast, and destroyed the rear wheel hub that she won't be rideable again until I come back 6 months later. I'll buy her a set of red and gold Warp 9 wheels after, and hopefully I get to ride her safely in the streets again. I already miss her and my SV650.

Yep, motor revs up ready for the last gear change so you go to shift and find there is no 6, which is a shame as motor feels like it has more to give but holding back. I went from this to street triple, MT09 then S1000r. DRZ is good but has to be thrashed and lots of gear changing...soon grow out of it unless you are a wheelie king, which Im not!

you could change up the sprocket ratio to make it strain less on 5th
but you'll lose some acceleration

Where's the 250L & DR-Z400 comparison video? I can't find it. These are my two top dualsports and I've never owned either one. The WR250R was my first pick but once you get up to that price range the DR-Z makes more sense for the sort of riding that I do. The new 250L with direct injection and dual spark will be a great deal if the price stays where it is.

I own both the 450L is way better. But the drz is still a good bike.
Love it man. The 450l isn't perfect but it's definitely a step above the rest, just my opinion. Never ridden a Drz. I had an R6 for my first bike. Soo glad I sold it and bought the 450l

They are expensive but worth it. We can't ask Honda for a premium machine and also ask for the same price as the 250l.

I got my bike loaded into the back of my truck when I was signing papers. I went to another store to get my bike ramp and helmet. Got my bike home and went to unload it and was like what the hell! I’m 5’7” I borrowed the neighbors4wheeler ramp and my wife helped me unload it. Just saying that this video was pretty cool until I saw you easily walk your bike up into your truck. Not sure we can be friends. I’ll still watch and like all your videos, but you loading your bike was a burn to me lol!
My son turns 5 in a couple days and is getting his first motorcycles. One gas, one electric, he still wears 2t pants.

How tall is Jose, I’m also vertically challenged and was a bit worried about geting one.
I’ve had one for two years and I’m 5’7” and it’s totally fine with that height. The person who got me into supermoto was a 5’2” lady who had hers lowered so it’s definitely doable. Very fun bike!
