  • In this video blog from our Extended Series we are taking a look at a requirement for sales order picking in advanced WMS warehouse. This requirement can be fulfilled using two distinct processes. View the video for the full story and my amazing Pink Floyd t-shirt :)

I can't thank you enough for this amazing video! Would you mind making a video to help me understand the connections between wave, location directives and load shipment? Appreciate your response

Thanks Sruthi. Sure, Every time you release SO to warehouse system will create shipment (usually one per order). These shipments can then be combined into a wave (collection of shipments) based on wave template. Once wave is processed, warehouse work will get created based on logic defined in location directive (which location to pick items from and put them to) and work template (how many steps to complete pick and put).

@@nextoneconsulting thanks for quick response. I've got another question. Let's say that demand based replenishment is updated in the work template. However we don't want the warehouse worker to stop the sales work and do the replenish work because the replenish work is going to delay the rest of the order picking.. do you have any suggestions around this? Can the warehouse user park this type of orders and take the next? I am talking about batch or the wave picking for group of sales orders..

Hi Sruthi, Usually demand replenishment work is done by different group of warehouse workers, not pickers. Sales order picking work will be unblocked as soon as replenishment work is complete. The only other way around that would be to pick directly from those bulk storage locations eliminating need for separate replenishment work to bring inventory to picking only locations.

    Hi.. I have a question..
I have a situation where I have to combine transfer orders and a few sales orders that's going to the same store.. (customer will collect the item from the store)
How can I handle it in advanced warehouse? Your advice is much appreciated..

Hi Sruthi, have you tried to create shipping wave template that will process and generate both sales and transfer warehouse work to achieve what you are looking for?

@@nextoneconsulting but a wave could be either sales or transfer but not both right?
