    I just laugh out loud every time I hear anyone complain about High End Audio or anything else for that matter as being "OVERPRICED." There's no such thing as any given item being overpriced as long as there are enough buyers, no matter how expensive. Period!!! A lot of us are so quick to proclaim something as being overpriced just because we can't afford it.

    • @theaudioanalyst
      @theaudioanalyst  Před 7 měsíci +4

      Your point is very well taken. Don't hate because you cannot, or choose not to, afford something. There is no reason anyone should spend beyond their means. And while we have all heard really pricy products that are underwhelming - or worse, one should not attack or belittle something they likely have not even heard just because it is expensive.

    Greetings from Denmark. Love that You know what You are talking about. I find that Michael Børresen is absolutely genius. He has this amazing ability to think out of the box and create some class leading products. The Børresen M line is awesome but the asking prices are extremely high and out of reach for most people sadly.

      @theaudioanalyst  Před 9 měsíci

      Hello! As to the ATS Acoustics Corner Bass Traps in each corner behind the speakers, they were not necessary to begin with, but...they were affordable. I hear no need to do any more than they offer, nor has any other speaker or equipment designer, industry expert, distributor, retailer, musician, reviewer, or audiophile who has visited. The room really does not load, so... Please see my website to understand more about the room, its treatment, and the sonic results. www.theaudioanalyst.com/reference-system/

    Hi Greg enjoyed the presentation. How close is the M-3 position setup to your Ultra 9 position

    • @theaudioanalyst
      @theaudioanalyst  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Thanks, Russell. Interestingly enough, that is a revealing question; they are extremely close! The M3 tweeter is "centered" some 6' 8" from the front wall, and just an eighth of an inch less than 2' even from the side walls. My U9 tweeters are "centered" 7' even from the front wall, and 1' 10" from the side walls... I've been in this room now for eight years, and yes, this IS a consistent and repeatable pattern! 😏

    Interesting, Greg how does it compare with your ultra 9 speakers, or is there any spectrum of sound that is at least the same, because it plays a role in which sound suits you better, but everyone has their own taste. Probably the lowest spectrum, despite the space technology, does not have to be compared with the 15" unit because it is limited both by air movement and also by the size of the motor behind the diaphragm.

    • @theaudioanalyst
      @theaudioanalyst  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Hello, my good man. Sadly, you are going to have to wait for my full review to get that skinny. I will say that my U9s play deeper - by something like 10 Hertz. As well, at this point, just shy of 130 hours of run-in here, my U9s are also capable of a more corporal sounding soundstage, with more convincing layering and depth to the sound staging and imaging characteristics. But, then again, the U9s - and any VSA with its ambient retrieval system - is going to best any other speaker in this regard, no? But the M3s are a STAGGERINGLY GREAT performer, offering perhaps the lowest "self-noise" of any speaker in my experience! And their resolution, and resultant transparency to the sources, is freaking world class...if not benchmark setting.

    What makes your room so good for acoustic reproduction? is it mainly dimensions?

    • @theaudioanalyst
      @theaudioanalyst  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hello. In the simplest of terms, yes... See this section of the description from my website about the system... www.theaudioanalyst.com/reference-system/
      My new music room occupies the north end of the west half of my basement, in a room that is 46′ X 13′ x 7′ 4″. Further, I have two different sized and asymmetrically placed doorways opening into another equally sized space, one that is 40″ wide by 78″ tall, starting 11′ 10″ from the front wall, another that is 34″ wide by 77″ tall, starting 28 feet from the front wall, both of which act as aperiodic vents. This large space also houses my small theater at the south end by the fireplace.
      Some quick calculations reveal the room is about 600 ft2 or some 4300 ft3. Based on room length, it can support full development of frequencies down to about 24Hz, with primary axial resonances at about 44Hz and 78Hz. But the room is amazing sounding, and exhibits remarkably little loading. In fact, during a visit to install and set up my Von Schweikert Audio ULTRA 9 loudspeakers, Leif Swanson, Chief Designer at Von Schweikert Audio said, “You seem to have some pretty cool things taking place with the room. Good length for the bass waves, and those doorways. I notice very little change to the bass walking around the room. You definitely scored with this room.”

      @theaudioanalyst  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Thanks, Marcus! As I suggested, this is going to be an interesting audition... They have been running now, non-stop, for a bit more than 60 hours. And while they had plenty of run-in time on them, after ANY serious move such as they went through, I prefer to give a product, especially speakers, a full 200 or so hours to re-settle and run in. When not listening to check in on their progress, I'm running my favorite burn-in track at moderate volume... Yet at this point, I can tell you that they do some things EXTREMLY well!

      @theaudioanalyst Many thanks for link. Back in 80's i did get pleasure of spending some time with someone that had a system of $100000 ( 80's price).
      Speakers were Tympani, but only used middle panel.
      Volks satellite tweeters
      Altec Lansing bass.
      Amplifiers mono block by H&R audio
      Custom built.
      The turntable can't remember name.
      Heavy base and plater with vacuum pump. The arm very strange. In 2 parts.
      Massive horizontal movement and at end a secondary short vertical movement arm .cartridge unknown.
      On top of the cost of system he built a special room to the ideal dimensions with treatment. Also dedicated power from street cable. Played Star Wars theme.
      Never seen anything like since.
      Myself Dali and NAD about 20 years old.

      @theaudioanalyst  Před 2 měsíci

      Hello Justin. Clearly - YOU understand what I’ve been espousing ALL ALONG - right from the start. As I said any number of my episodes, perhaps most clearly in E128: My Reference System - Recorded - Again, starting at 1:01 (czcams.com/video/COhN1MrdUNc/video.htmlsi=Gk6LUcTSl1rz98ZZ&t=61) I say, ”As a computer engineer with certifications from both Microsoft and Apple, someone who has been in the computing world since, and started programming in, 1971, and who recently retired from the IT world, I truly wish people had a clearer understanding of what they are REALLY hearing when they listen to any RECORDING posted on CZcams or any other media platform.
      But before I share the recordings, I want to reiterate my position, one I’ve held from the very beginning of this "listen to how the system sounds by watching this video” craze. What you are hearing IN NO WAY accurately represents the sound you experience in the room and of the system being recorded. It simply cannot be accomplished with any real level of fidelity.
      Listening to a recording of a system - in my room, from a show, at a retail showroom, in ANY online recording - and what you are hearing, AT BEST, is severely restricted by the combination of the signature of the recording mic or mic’s, then the limitations of each of the following; the media sharing platform’s available audio codec/s, and by the way, I've shared a link to CZcamss details in today’s description, their computer’s, or worse, their phone’s, sound card, and their choice of speakers, whether that be decent headphones or worse, the speakers on their laptop, those connected to their desktop, or their tablet or smartphone.
      Will recordings made using the same recording chain, played back from the same media platform, and using the same playback chain allow you to detect differences? Most likely. But you are NOT hearing the system that was recorded. By that I mean there is virtually ZERO fidelity to the acoustic envelope generated at the original location, you are hearing a limited facsimile of that performance. Any differences you perceive are STILL not directly indicative of the actual soundscape created by the system that was recorded. You are actually hearing the limitations imposed by the entire recording and playback chain, period.
      And addressing the “…recordings made using the same recording chain…” part of this problem, can represent a HUGE hurdle, ESPECIALLY across different channels, as EACH CZcamsr uses their unique gear, and often, will use different gear across the creation of their recordings. Just to illustrate that point, the Sennheiser shotgun stereo mic I’m using now is conspicuously different, though considerably more portable and convenient to use, than the pair of large diaphragm pressure gradient condenser microphones, in an ORTF near-coincident setup, feeding a professional Digital Audio Workstation that I used in E88: My System - Recorded.”
