- This Skoda had an issue with the alarm triggering randomly when parked, the issue was traced to a fault with the drivers door microswitch. This is a common fault with Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda vehicles which share a near identical lock design. Repeated opening and closing of the door wears the microswitch causing it to give an incorrect door open/closed signal.
A fault with a microswitch can normally be identified as the cars alarm may trigger, or the interior light may not function correctly when doors are opened/closed.
Replacing the microswitch is a relatively simple task which has corrected the issue without the need to replace the entire lock unit.

This is THE BEST video on youtube how to replace micro switch !!!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Thanks for this, but I just snipped wires on switch and soldered new one on, didn't take it apart, worked👌👍
Thanks a lot!
replaced the switch in my fabia using this great video!
Fantastic video, cheers!
Excellent instructional video
Thank you for the very useful video. Any tips how to by-pass the microswitch and just install an on/off door push switch? Can the wires just be cut and crimped on to push switch?
Professional job
it was very helpful, Thank you..
Could you by any chance do a video for replacing the drivers side window regulator. It would be very helpful. Please
Unfortunately I cannot as this is not my vehicle and I no longer have access to it.
Great video but I'm struggling to remove the cable at 2.04, any tips. I can't figure out how to release the door release cable.
It's quite difficult to see in my video due to poor access but you rotate the plastic clip 90 degrees and slide it out of the lever arm by pulling towards yourself. tinyurl.com/y8q7fwbu
Great video! Are the lock and micro switch the same as in Fabia mk1?
Following
The lockring that hold the lock in place came loose. I dont know how to put it back. How to remove the door handle in Fabia ii?
This link is for removing the lock cylinder on a MK5 golf, but it is a similar process for the Fabia.

This section of the video shows the mechanism which holds the lock cylinder in place, it might help give a better idea of how everything goes together.

hi i have skoda fabia II (uses VW parts) . i have problem with door. door open symbol is on dashboard but door is closed. i checked the lock and microswitch , it is fine. when i disconnect the connector/wiring to the electric window motor the door lock is working fine. can you help? where is the problem?
I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble with this, all I can suggest is that you test the microswitches on every door and the boot lock also. If this in not the issue then potentially there is a damaged wire at the door connector.
@@south-eastautomotive4711 thanks for your help. i will check that! :-)
is that why door says it's open when it's shut
