This performance was the reason why Best vocal award was being introduced in Juara Lagu or AJL. She didn't win anything that night but she was the talked of the country. Every newspaper was praising her performance that night and said she should win an Award. She might not won anything but she overshadowed every singer that competed that night (including Siti). Liza's first album came out around 1997 a year after Siti's and she was celebrated as Siti's closest competition by Malaysian at that time due to her similar sweet, powerful vocal as Siti's but Siti's stardom was just massive at that time knocking down every newcomers in that era. For Liza hanim u can try to find "Gelisah Mimpi", "Getaran cinta dijiwa" her debut in her teenage age. Liza hanim is one of the singer that has strong, solid vocal. U can check Ziana zain also, she start singing earlier, senior singer. The song "Puncak Kasih", " Kemelut Muara Kasih", etc also show her strong and high voice.
This was 20 years ago.. This was AJL. The same competition where was Ernie Zakri. Liza is legend same goes with Siti Nurhaliza. They were in the same batch in the industry when they came out. During this time Liza still bachelor and now she has 5 kids at the age of 40. And she is still amazing as before.

Yazik... In malay language we have the vowel /i/ is the simple close front unrounded /i/ used the tip of the tongue... And we have two sound of E, first the close mid front (unrounded) /e/ sound. Second is mid central /ə/ or schwa voice, mostly schwa place in the first or second syllable and rarely at the end of syllable

Having said that however, just so you know, the Malay language in Malaysia is so varied in terms of pronunciation from one state to another. For example, if you were to learn the Malay language as a foreigner, most likely it would be the standard (Kuala Lumpur) version. Armed with your newly acquired language, you will definitely feel like you're in a different country when you visit Kelantan in the east coast or Perlis in the north. Not only the pronunciations will be different, the intonation will throw you off balance as well ;-). Liza's "E" could be habitual in nature influenced perhaps, by her "local" Malay language...perhaps.

Yazik... In malay language we have the vowel /i/ is the simple close front unrounded /i/ used the tip of the tongue... And we have two sound of E, first the close mid front (unrounded) /e/ sound. Second is mid central /ə/ or schwa voice, mostly schwa place in the first or second syllable and rarely at the end of syllable
Back in those days as Siti Nurhaliza & Liza Hanim debut, the vibes were like, in my opinion, Whitney & Mariah or Brandy & Monica. Both Siti & Liza were champions of singing competitions, started at the same recording company and got songs from the same composer, but each have their on distinct personalities and colour. Both are audience favorites when it comes to live performances.
I can't say exactly who their inspiration is, but it could be Aishah. She is a legendary vocalist!

Hi Yazik...hope you're well. On the "E" sound, it was her own. We generally pronounce "E" just as you described. Having said that however, just so you know, the Malay language in Malaysia is so varied in terms of pronunciation from one state to another. For example, if you were to learn the Malay language as a foreigner, most likely it would be the standard (Kuala Lumpur) version. Armed with your newly acquired language, you will definitely feel like you're in a different country when you visit Kelantan in the east coast or Perlis in the north. Not only the pronunciations will be different, the intonation will throw you off balance as well ;-). Liza's "E" could be habitual in nature influenced perhaps, by her "local" Malay language...perhaps.

Lots of people said Liza Hanim career was overshadowed by Siti Nurhaliza back then.. Let’s face the facts here.. Siti Nurhaliza came into the music industry first..When she started her career it was Ziana Zain has been top the charts in radio and tv.. Siti has managed to toppled Ziana at her peak and years later one by one singers appeared with the voices and songs similar or almost to Siti Nurhaliza.. Liza Hanim came to the nearest similarity..people made a long list of comparisons between the two and Siti Nurhaliza has the upper hand.Why?
1st - Siti Nurhaliza has more fan base due to her seniority.
2nd - Siti Nurhaliza is a beautiful,polite,humble with ‘clean controversies’,modesty and people love her conservative styles and self expression.
3rd - Siti Nurhaliza doesn’t sell sexy or skimpy appearance like those hookers look alike Hollywood singers (yes,I’m talking about J’lo,Rihanna,Britney etc) or fall into bad media coverages.Malaysia & America has different marketing styles due to religion (belief).All she did to her success up until today is just her impressive talent.
Not that Liza Hanim doesn’t have all these but she came 2nd especially people back then always said Liza Hanim is a copied of Siti Nurhaliza and majority didn’t pay attention much on second place.. (Malaysian music industry is just about 1-3% of the Hollywood)

Liza on other hands, only focus on ballad songs and not much popular songs that she has..

Most of the comments would compare Liza to Siti or other well-know singers. For me, they are all great and beautiful singers who each has different music genre to cater to for their fans. Apparently, I believe, Dato Siti has a wide range of studio albums and has been exposed to the world various times through her live performances and concerts. I wish Liza Hanim the very best in the music scene and of course I wait for any new material of hers.

Hi Yazik...to inform you..Honestly Liza Hanim is one of our best Female that we have in the industry. unfortunately she debuted in the same year/ close with Siti Nurhaliza. ..Yet people said she are try to clone with Siti Nurhaliza....But for myself she have her own trademark...She have a very loud and strong ,Round voice...Same like Siti Nurhaliza..the reason why ..for Malaysia...after Siti Nurhaliza boom in the industry..there is a lot of new artist are trying to being like Siti Nurhaliza....so in other way Liza Hanim get the splash... then she unable to get on her moment during that time.... but you know what there are under same recording company during that time....hahahah
