  • In this hunt, we are looking at a bundle of toonies ,loonies, quarters, dimes and nickels. We found lots of good coins, including a silver dime and a nickel with some awesome machine doubling.
If you see I find coins you would like to have in your collection, I am always up for trades, send me an email at :

Another great hunt! I like the “scavenger” hunts maybe even more than full boxes of one denomination, because you get such a variety

A silver coin always makes a hunt a little more exciting. Good luck.

Awesome finds my friend! That 1980 DD would've been the star of the hunt for me, I've checked so many of them and have not found 1! Great hunt and good luck on the next one! PS, congrats on 50 subs!

Congrats ! Some awesome finds. I don't collect twonies but you finding those Bill Reid's makes me want to. :) That silver find is awesome too... look at how black it is with tarnish! That is amazing. That 1980 Nickel... I am no expert but what I understand of doubling is that, that is more likely a Machine doubling error rather than a double die. DD's should be identical in where they double and yours is on the side and the one in the picture is on the bottom. Plus...it has that shelf appearance, where a double die, the doubling should be roughly the same thickness. The funny thing is, as I look at that Coins and Canada website, I think the doubling example they have on there is ALSO machine doubling and not a double die. It has that shelf look rather than equal thickness. One of the other tricks I saw was that if you see the doubling all over the coin rather than localized to just one part, that is also a sign of machine doubling. I'd keep it anyways, as I am surely no expert, but I think it is machine doubling and I think the coins and canada website is also misleading us. I just checked and PCGS does not show a variety for the 1980 nickel, so I am guessing that there is actually no variety for the 1980 nickel that we should be looking for and someone has made a mistake on the coins and canada website.

I asked a few persons on various groups, and the same conclusion came out ot it, I will keep it as a loyalty coin but unfortunatly I don't think it is nothing special

@@mathGaud Yeah, too bad. I had been checking for that one too So I remembered that the doubling was on the bottom. Ah well... one less variant we have to look for! :) Great hunt though.. you are getting a ton of nice toonies.
