I think both molly and the song deserved so much better than 17th!!!! For once the BBC got a credible artist who not only wrote an amazing and current song but was a great ambassador for the UK! Molly did us proud and i hope this isnt the last we see of her because she truly deserved better! I for one will be buying her album when it is released later this year. #teammolly
We could have the best act BY FAR and we wouldn't win because Europe doesn't like us. I don't see why as we sing a lot of money into both Europe and this song contest. Should pull our funding, then we would win.
evilmingz well, that's true, but I just hope UK will not withdraw from the contest as I like British entries almost every year. And UK definitely introduces something interesting and high-quality to the contest.
@@samuwhoa Probably the only two times in the last decade we ever actually had a chance of doing well. We did good in 2011 with Blue but 2014 and 2017 we really sent good songs. The rest of Europe just really doesn't like the UK. 😂😂😂
@@luchoney5868 A study came out a few years ago that indicated that ESC fans are more motivated by positive bias (like Greece voting for Cyprus) than negative bias. You guys just need to up your game (i. e. send more songs like this). You have the biggest music industry in the world - act like it!
I love how the UK tries to win, but we've done so badly in recent memory that the British people just think 'We won't win, but let's see who we can beat'.
Still annoys me to this day that this song didn’t do better or even win! The song has such a good meaning to it, Molly sings it with passion, you can hear it in her voice. The production as well deserves big praise.
I'm just a random internet user from Indonesia that read and heard Conchita from 9gag and jakarta local radio this morning....so I checked what is the hype......and I ended up watching the performances and this particular performance: I'M IN LOVE!!!!!!! This performance is breathtaking :"
Molly.. she had a great chance of getting into the top 10. Here's what i think should of been done. First off.. The staging should of allowed her to walk onto the stage from the back as the music got bigger, with the backing singers on one of the walkways with the drummer on one of the islands. As molly started off with the line "I've been tired of this thinking" she would of then went to another camera for the next line "So i've drowned it out by drinking" then snaps back towards the main camera at the front with the next line "Tastes like a bitter pill but i'll just wash it down with the taste of something sweet that some doctor gave me now" then she would of had a camera going around her as she followed it with the next lines "This is a madness, I'm not giving in. We're shining like diamonds with love in our hearts.standing beside you i've a feeling that i'll never walk alone" from the word alone the camera snaps away to a full shot of the stage alight with flames with molly moving along more being fluid for the song.
The tone of Molly's voice is amazing,I wish we could have used Australia's staging for zero gravity with this song - I still get goosebumps when she raises her arm and those lights rise ...
I'm from Singapore and due to the time difference, stayed up all night just to watch her perform only to be disappointed that she got 17th place. However, I'm very proud of her for singing her own composition. Such a talented girl. No gimmick whatsoever. The support she got this year has been tremendous. Well done UK!
+lolatthisname Sure, because they would of sung it better and given the song and performance some guts and soul for the entire song rather then the last 30+ seconds, infact, removing the stand and letting her move around would of probably given her 5 places alone.
No, you are missing the point! Everybody hates the British and in spite of the fact that we have some of the best talent for actors and singers in the world, we never win Eurovision because of this. The style of the song was why more was put into it towards the end.
Should of got higher votes but its Europe what do you expect.....UK will vote honestly regardless but rest of europe are voting for there neighbouring countries UK should pull out of the Eurovision its a waste of time and money even entering
Beverley Bennett Not every country votes for their neighbours. the Scandinavian countries have given loads of low points to eachother over the years (sweden gave norway 3 points this year i think) yet norway won 2009, sweden won in 2012 and denmark 2013. UK did not deserve top 5 because the performance was severely lacking in energy. But you can keep making excuses if you want.
This is the UK's best entry in years, at least since 2009. Finally, the BBC seemed to get over their 'where-are-they-now' mentality of entrants, and a good song and singer just went for the UK. And this was so intriguing, especially as the last song in the running order; there was so much atmosphere about this, and the chorus was great. I'd switch this and Russia's places around (and definitely should've finished higher than Belarus).
The United Kingdom sent in a fine entry this year, and it's no shame to have reached the 17th spot considering how many great entries we had this year (with Greece as the only 'dead duck', The Netherlands was my pick for the win). Just look at Slovenia; theirs was a classy, lovely song and it ended up in penultimate position, so 17th is good. Love from a Spaniard in the US.
I know, Slovenia was a masterpiece, and the catchy Portuguese song didn't qualify, and the UK is the one who's crying When Netherlands failed, they blamed themselves. Look at them now!!! If UK keeps whining that they lose, they'll get nowhere.
What annoys me is that if this song was sent by a country like Sweden or Azerbaijan who always do well with sometimes mediocre songs, this song could have won..... (I'm not even British btw)
I hope you all will still support Molly and buy her album! She deserves success. I think she may have performed better if the UK hadn't been one of the favorites. She had more pressure on her than a UK entry normally does. I hope she is not too sad :(
The sound levels are the killer for me. You can tell this was intended to be absolutely epic, but the sound is completely flat. It needed lots of reverb and depth. Zero impact, aurally.
I don't get how this didn't get top 10, it didn't even come on the left side of the board. This is definitely the best song the UK have sent to Eurovision this century
One of my favorites and one of the few contestants who made a great performance on stage! She deserved to be on top 5 at least! Anyway, thanks to ESC I know about Molly and I'm thankful for that!! Greetings from México! =)
that was a great catchy song, and what a beautiful voice colour....love it 😍 on the charts it was in UK 23, Scotland 15, Austria 63, Germany 94, Sweden 31, Denmark 37
Great music, meaningful lyrics, beautiful and talented singer, amazing scenography, . This performance should have won. It was hands down the best one that evening.
The song was amazing, the singer was good, the backing vocals were wonderful, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? like come on europe ! It deserved to be in the top 5 or even win the contest... UK's songs are always underrated.

don't you worry. you know how to make quality music in the UK and it doesn't matter at which place she ended up.
At least Molly doesn't have a beard

If we did, they'd have issues funding it tbh. Last I read, our tax payers front £200k-£300k towards the contest each year.
Underrated :( still listening in 2016, I think It's best British entry in last decade... :D
+YpsilonMuusika Mod Mark would be proud of her.
For me the best entry from Untied Kingdom asf
SHe should have won
YpsilonMuusika yeah it sure is
2017 :)This chorus is so memorable, really.
Drummer had his time of life!
This drummer is so BEAST😂
THAT DRUMMER IS SOME MAD YOLK
He was a tutor at my university. Such a solid drummer!
MASTERPIECE in comparison with the other UK's songs

Lmao
It's 2017 and I love this more and more every month

Didn’t giving this huge masterpiece a victory and placing it so low will forever be the biggest crime in eurovision!!
My favorite UK entry of the decade. Very underrated!
Still listening in 2022. She deserved better!
United Kingdom , Greece , Montenegro & Italy!
THE MOST UNDERRATED SONGS THIS YEAR!
greece? montenegro? italy? If these are underrated then every song in esc is underrated :D only UK is underrated like every year

She has such a different and interesting voice. I love it :)
Best song the UK has ever sent.. This doesnt look like a UK entry, it looks like a Denmark-Ukraine vibe .. Excellent

She was robbed
Molly we love you!!! no matter what the jury and televote says you are awesome!!!! thanks UK for sending this beautiful and talented woman
This was such a Eurovision-style song and if any other country performed it would've at least been top 5.

BUT... If it was San Marino, it wouldn't have even qualified.
Excellent song.
Michael .Green we’ve got no chance of winning it now because of brexit

One of the most powerful and meaningful songs out of the festival, my favorite so far!
how bout the dutch one?
Floris Govers That one and Silent Storm made my top 3... Powerful and Meaningful. Plain and simple!
I still remember watching this three years ago. I was nine and it was the first time I'd watched Eurovision and I loved it so much!!!
I was 15 yrs old when i saw my first eurovision and this was my favorite song.
Greetings from Italy 💛
My winner of Eurovision 2014, so sad, She should won , Love from Spain ;)
Thanks for the 5 points though. :)
I loved her performance i even downloaded the song on my phone go molly xx
One of my favorite Eurovision songs ever!
I’ve had this song in my head for years
Deserved to do better... when i saw this performance i was certain UK would finish on the top half...
+music is life and love I thought UK was going to win... Maybe this year ;)
Molly has talent, experience, self-confidence and her staging was visually very good... That was completely brilliant! 12 points from Turkey
My all time favorite song on Eurovision still sad it didn't win, Molly is amazing

Still love this song)) It was so underrated :(
The last time Austria won Eurovision, England won the World Cup.
Not all over yet, Brits.
Well we saw where that ended lmao
basically austria needs to win the world cup so uk can win eurovision
oakkent didn’t they win the other year with conchitta
oakkent Austria have no chance of winning the World Cup USA have more chance and that’s slim but if that was case I would be team USA
Should've come in the top ten. Underrated because we're one of the five countries that get to semi final because we help Eurovision!! Not fair!
I mean final
No, Italy gets good results nearly all years
+Collision SC- yeah, I suppose that's true. 😔
Kevin Bloomfield Also, France gets good results when they try. Notice I said when they TRY

Such a catchy chorus and amazing song
Three yrs later (2017) still listening 2 this and still baffled that it didn't win?!?!
Love her rasp! 😍 it's glorious.
Forgot how good this staging was too!
Top 5,I love this song and singer, I love UK from Spain
i still listen to this song !
Why did the UK get so little votes!? This is an amazing song!
Because we only border one country. God knows why we are still funding this!
Richard Dawbarn because eurovision is fun and awesome and the winner was right this year. and we got 40 points which is pretty good for us
Richard Dawbarn Yea, and that proves how corrupt this show is...
Austria song was better than ours :/ they really deserved to win
kelly w Maybe... but this song deserves more than 40 points
3 years later and I'm still in love of this song.
