Cheapest thing is the easiest to win, each key hole is set up with a minimum amount of money they need to win them - the cheapest shoes ($250) will need about $350 put into the machine to win them. The game is nothing about skill, it is just like a slot machine, it will only pay out when enough money is put in to cover the price (plus lots of profit for the machine owner)

For the prize that got stuck at the end, could you have asked a manager to get the prize out for you? I remember I won something in a crane game, but it was so big it got stuck and I couldn't get it through the exit. They were nice and opened the machine and took it out for me.
