Mine is labeled "grimoire" but it's more of a hodgepodge collection of thoughts, spells, recipes, and workings. I keep it all on onenote (an electric notebook) so I can copy paste right I to it, move things around and most importantly be able to read it later. My penmanship and spelling are atrocious.

I have a ”Magickal Journal” more in line with ceremonial magick ( Golden Dawn, Thelema ).
I see it as differing between the two types mentioned as a lot of the rituals mentioned in it are already known, so in that case less of a textbook/ recipe and more of a journal. More a way of noting and keeping track.
On the over hand, any new rituals or exercises ( my own though based on Hermetic/ Kabbalistic knowledge for example ) are duly noted in detail ( while a ritual like the LBRP would just be mentioned with date, time and other relevant conditions ).
I guess it is a mix of a diary, grimoire and lab report. 😉
I also include personal daily life as may seem relevant as well as dreams to see if there might be any correlations/results.

Hello, I’m French and I’d just like to make a small, tiny, correction in an overall great video.
The word grimoire originated from the word gramaire not grammaire (the second one mean grammar the first in means book of magic) it was originally translated to grymoire in 1165 - the 14 (cycle, era?? I’m sorry, English is very difficult 😥)
but overtime became the word grimoire.
In the Middle Ages “gramaire” became grimoire due to the belief that those who practiced magick and were witches were worshipers of the devil. The word grim comes from the word “grimer” or griffer. This can mean a couple of things like the devils claws and such. This word has sadly been forgotten through time. So basically the word grimoire is a mashup of the words gramaire and grimer 💛
Great video, I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. You speak very clearly so I find you very easy to follow along with compared to other English CZcamsrs, keep up the good work

Being Norse Pagan and a practitioner of Galdr and Modr or the Frenzy. I would say think of the Book of Shadows as your journal.
    Notes
    Data
    Information
Your Grimoire, or Tome is what has been researched, then applied as the textbook personally speaking to your practice.
Remember, rather Alchemy, Wicca, or any practice of mysticism. In the end the text, or codex that is your grimoire or tome. Is the sum of all of your knowledge or even knowledge of what you practice. Rather as a group, or solo.

I would also state that it is called a book of shadows because it would be a book hidden in the shadows, hidden from prying eyes that could end up with you being persecuted in some form if it was seen by others. Wondering if you "still live at home" or if you're an "autonomous" adult... Either way, I agree with Sarah Beee... in plain sight works best. If it's "hidden" then it can be found. That dramatizes and makes it seem like something that needs an intervention. I was raised pretty deep in Christianity and though I still hold the light of Christianity in the roots of my spiritual walk, I've opened myself up to the light in other spiritual belief systems too. My mom, who's recently re-devoted herself to Christianity, comes over my house and loves the vibe (she doesn't know/find the crystals, fountain, candles, spiritual reference books etc abnormal because they're out in the open on display.) - Whatever you decide to do, know that this is yours, your path, your life, your spiritual walk. BLESSED BE, Kindred.

I have a separate book for spells and magical techniques and workings. 9and other reference books as well but those are the two main. so yes if at a yule observation there's a working I want to do I've got out both books. if I'm just doing worship, then it's the one book.

I would guess if you don't believe in Christianity and only believe in some of the stories, you can do whatever you want. One of the whole beliefs in Christianity is that there is only 1 true God, and to go against him/it would be heresy. At least that's what I took from it. You can believe in a God and not exactly be religious, whether it be Christian, catholic, Jewish, or any of the other million systems. Just go with what you feel in your heart and don't let one old story bring you down. I fully believe there is not a "god" that is judging you-only universal knowledge which is much bigger than any religion we've ever heard. Make your own! Have you ever thought that ALL gods may have existed? Or maybe they do because we believe they do?

    • @PinkieJoJo

@@AngieCee1 I just watched several videos about Christian-Paganism. Believing in God not as the one and only god but the God above all other gods and incorporating some pagan beliefs and practices within the context of Christianity. Mystic Christ incorporated into historical Christ. Catholicism (which overall I’m unfamiliar with) has a long history of magick and rituals And all Christianity has deep roots in Paganism even though so many try to deny it. So, I am starting to think one can truly believe Christ is the way (for them individually) and not the only way as God is the creator of all (including of the other gods). Hence why He says we shall not have any other gods above Him. Idk. Just my current thinking.

You can call it whatever you want. The book of shadows is actually a book that is kept in the shadows, hidden from prying eyes, yes it comes from wicca but that does not mean you can’t call it that. Blessed be.

There’s absolutely no difference. BoS is a Wiccan term, and grimoire is a historical term. That’s it. Any difference to modern practitioners is entirely preference
