I've seen her described as dark folk pop. Well if that's what you call incredibly powerful, beautiful music that puts 90% of the pop radio to shame, then so be it. Wow! We often read of singers putting everything into a performance of a song, but Aurora is doing more than that here. I believe she is pouring her very soul into every word. Such a sad but powerful and hauntingly beautiful song. A truly stunning performance by a beautiful human being. And by the way, Aurora's dress is absolutely gorgeous.

I sort of feel as if soft universe and it happened quiet are two sides of the same coin. Like one has a good ending and the other turns bad and shows how love can become toxic and dangerous. And I think these parallels are made clear by the lyrics in soft universe “speak to me” and then in it happened quiet “don’t you speak over my voice” and with the same image of the bed turning red in both songs and yeah that just my interpretation
Or it’s possible that soft universe is about her recovery from what happened in it happened quiet like in soft universe to begin with everything is sharp and hurts and she needs a soft universe to protect her and she begins to get what she needs and heal from the abuse she suffered before in it happened quiet

I agree so much with you, I've always felt the same regarding these songs. Also, the fact that Soft Universe comes shortly after It Happened Quiet in the album makes it feel more like the second idea you proposed, and I really like that, sort of like an optimistic "Whatever abuse you've gone through, you can overcome it."

One of the most hauntingly beautiful songs I've heard... and this performance in particular is so emotional. I've been trying to understand the message being conveyed... is it about abusive relationships? How one partner's abuse or rage painted their world red, painted their sheets red. I don't know entirely, but this is why I love her music because it's deep with meaning and I have to pause and just... enjoy the mastery of it. She's still so young but with so much depth to her soul and her message. I'm thankful to enjoy Aurora in my lifetime.

As the lyrics really are free to be interpreted, I got my own painful and yet perfectly describing interpretation of this song. Its some years ago I was raped by my own boyfriend, I was barely a woman yet, and the lyrics perfectly describe the contradictory feelings, memories and thoughts I was going through after that. I don't want to go that much into it, but maybe you can understand my interpretation.
i only see this interpretation as well. i always sing, maybe nearly scream with aurora, emotionally and nearly cry. i was raped by many more than just one boyfriend... this song captures just that... too beautifully and painfully
I was raped too, and even though this is the first time I listen to this song this is exactly what I felt. Maybe it's because of my own experience but the only thing I can think about while listening to this is about those dark times.
I really feel for everyone who made the same or even multiplied experiences as myself. I wish only the best, because you beautiful souls deserve only luck, health and love. I think it connects with with Murder Song in Murder Song it about her lover “killing” her and leaving her dead with a broken heart as she tries to justify that wasn’t his fault and he did mean to do it. In this song is shows her rising up and confronting his actions, I feel like rising up and healing is a big part of this album with songs like Queendom and Churchyard.
The pitch changes in this live is so beautiful... and her expressions 🤯 its like she is living that song. This song is so dynamic, from telling a change that happened quietly in whispers to shouting vengeance at the end.

This is so much more powerful than the album version.
I do however love that It Happened Quiet and Churchyard go back to back in the album. It Happened quiet feels more emotional and coming up from abuse, specifically rape, whereas Churchyard comes from a more vengeful and angry place, recognizing the abuser for what they are and turning away from them. Listen to them back to back, they are powerful together.
The way everything sounds at 2:58 is just out of this world. What an incredible artist!

Everytime she sings this song live it feels like a different song every single time. It's amazing.
This song and especially this version help me with the pain I was going through at the time. I was so hurt for such a long time by a close person in my family that SA’d me for years and I prevented things going further and when things were quiet it happened again but instead of being being young and quiet I was barely a new adult and couldn’t be quiet anymore. I spoke my truth and my family tore itself apart and it drove me to the darkest point of life where all I did was cry and be numb with no feeling. I lost so much family and so much family got hurt. I lost a friend and I isolated myself so I wouldn’t lose anyone else, it tore my insides apart and I couldn’t breathe or think. And one day the very year this video released, I saw it on my recommended page and heard it on a whim, and feel lucky soul cry for it felt like someone understood my pain,my sorrow, my fight. It helped me get back up and when I was learning music It helped me to calm my sorrows. I sing it whenever I’m down and helps me cope with my past trauma it’s been 8 years since I became brave and although I have my moments I’m much stronger than I was then and aurora helped me with that in my journey to healing. Honestly a legend and our beautiful mystical fairy queen 😭 thanks aurora and thanks for the person who posted this years ago it means a lot to me y’all saved my life 🥹💕✨

This is the second time I watch this performance (I have already watched the entire show at this church) and wow!, it still gives me goosebumps!........I've just been listening to Aurora's music for almost two months now and I think this is the best show she has ever done!......a really outstanding, astonishing, emotional moment it was!.......I hope she goes back to do shows like this one in the future cause this kind of gigs are the best in my opinion.
