I really appreciate the kind words and shoutout. I wasn’t expecting that while I was watching this video.
That thing really ran a long time! So light no doubt. I could have only dreamt about performance and run times like that back in the 80s and 90s….Those original shocks were shockingly bad but the oil filled units seem great… kept the bouncy charm of the Grasshopper.
Can’t wait to see what kind of speed you get out of it down the road. It might be a bit much for a Grasshopper but I had great luck with a cheap (under $40) Surpass Hobby F540 4370kv 60a combo in my vintage Raider. It rips at over 60 mph (when it stays in the road).😂. Just turn the punch down and let it rip!

I'm very sure lighter shock oil will do the trick to keep her more stable. She was quite stiff but still kept that old school drive style from back in the day. I'm thinking about going crazy with a Hobbywing XR10 60a esc with a 10.5t brushless sensored motor combo like in my Kyosho Optima.. With lighter shock oil and the right terrain could make all the difference but time will tell.
You deserve the shot out brother cause you was the one that resetted my vintage world of rc. My Kyosho Vanning was stolen years ago as you know and you came in touch and reinighted me. It costed me a premium but was well worth it. My next video on that beast will be soon and I will give you a shout out that too. Just waiting on it to dry up cause of the rain and snow..

@@nwirc LMAO! That XR10 60a setup would be an absolutely nuts! I don't know much about the Grasshopper and if a 3650 fits well. I went with the F540 for a couple or reasons. My understanding is that as it has the fins, it is really a 380 sized motor in a can with outside diameter of a 540 (the fins stick out to that diameter) but lighter and with less torque. Even with the punch turned all the way down in my Raider (which is by car my lightest 1/10 RC car but I would guess might weigh more than a grasshopper), it has plenty of power for accelerating but isn't too hard on the gears (I still usually ease into the throttle unless off road as the Raider does not have the strongest gears... the only thing I don't like about it is even on the weakest setting the brakes are a bit strong). I think I have read the Grasshopper has a fairly strong trans from a vintage perspective but IDK... the torque of that 3650 might just be absurd!🤣 Whatever you do, I am for sure going to tune in for it!!
I have a Hobbywing 3600KV 3650 QuicRun in my Ultima and it has way more torque that the motor in my Raider.... but both actually have a similar top speed with the tallest gears I can fit in them. No doubt the Hobbywing setup is much nicer though.
I for sure was excited that Vanning kit was exactly what you were looking for and everything worked out well for you! I will be looking forward for to that one too! Thanks again and I will have to give you a shoutout in one of my upcoming videos! IDK if you will gain much but it can't hurt as you have a great channel!

@@nwirc Well I guess if a 550 fits you will be good with that Hobbywing setup lol! czcams.com/video/ZTMNAxaUJtM/video.html
They also ran a cheap brushless setup in this video.

Thank you. I couldn't believe the runtime I got with it without any heat issues. That little 3s lipo is perfect for this.

An upgrade I recommend for grasshoppers....bigger tires. I put monster beetle tires on my G2 and it's awesome. A little bit of a Mad Bull feel.

Those chinesium shocks look great on there. I gotta find a grasshopper and a grasshopper 2. Got a hor, and the kids got the rising fighter.

@@nwirc oh it is good but never hurts to keep spares or upgrade to get 20 mins per battery. Jejeje longer fun time
